U.S. President-elect Barack Obama's top choice to lead the U.S. Department of Homeland Security is Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano, CNN reported on Wednesday, citing multiple sources. And there goes our chance for taking McCain's Senate seat. A poll a day or two before election day showed McCain losing his Senate seat to Napolitano. This also gives Arizona a Republican Governor. The Lt Gov in AZ is a Republican when the governor is a Democrat? That's very strange. Nope. Arizona doesn't have a Lt. Gov. So, the Governorship goes to the Secretary of State. She is a Republican.

If you were not my favorite member before, after posting that, you now are. And this is going along with a post Hulkamaniac made in another thread. What are you guys' opinion on the hate crime laws in the U.S.?

On a side note, i like how Obama is going to implement his change by placing people in his staff who have been part of the problem in Washington for decades.

We had a Republican Gov. and Democratic Lt. Gov for few terms. In a red state like this we had a Democratic Congressman keep his seat for 18 years. They just aren't very different on a local level.

Was the Lt Gov elected into office, or was it a situation like Pennsylvania when the President Pro Tempore stepped in after Knoll died? Meh.

Me personally? Not really. I would love to flood out most of the Washington insiders, Reoublican and Democrat. My issue is, you are preaching widespreading change, and your first acts are more of the same.

It is change. Change from the current administration. Change back to the Clinton Era.

Slappy, sometimes you are hilarious. Yeah, sometimes. I love the Clintons, so I don't mind at all.

I like to complain. Anyways, any word on Obama's choice for Secretary of Veterans Affairs? This one, for me, is a very important cabinet choice so...I'm anxious.

"Change" was just a buzz word that can be interpreted which ever way you perceive it.
Maybe I'm wrong about this, but I don't remember him saying he was going to overhaul the current governmental system, but he did say there was going to be a change in philosophy, which if you look at his plan there will be change.

In all honesty a government without Bush, Cheney, Rice, and Gates is a great change. (I don't exactly mean great as good, though I am an Obama supporter, I mean great as in big...by the way). Personally I would rather see Hillary in the U.S. Supreme Court...but that's just me.

I don't like the Clintons, but Bill didn't do a bad job overall.
But that is a cop out, saying, well, it is technically change. Technically Bush brought change as well. He has promised sweeping change through Washington, and going back to 8 years ago is not sweeping change.

It is sweeping change. Sweeping change back to 'the good ol' days'.
Dread, Gates is probably staying.

I'm not convinced that the "Good ol' days" were so good in the first place. Obama has stated that the first two things he wants to do is pass another stimulus package and implement his healthcare plan. How is spending tons of money that we don't have change? Seems like the same thing to me.
