This was them ost depressing UFC event I've ever watched. I had to sit through both Penn AND Mir get dominating victories, and Guida lost. I shouldn't have even ordered this, I ing hate Penn.

There's no reason to hate Penn.

How the can you hate Penn nowadays? I admit I had a small problem with his attitude back when he was just raw talent and not hard work, but the "new era" BJ Penn is a ing phenom. I nearly slapped myself too when BJ Penn started spazzing out because he put Diego away with that brutal cut. It was that epic of a moment. The cut was a real cringe-inducing gash, there's just no way that fight could have gone on. What's worse is that it was RIGHT above the eye. I'm honestly glad that the fight was called. Penn's sheer domination was a real sight to behold. I loved every single second of it. Can't wait to see what's next for him.

I know there is the possibility of ANYTHING HAPPENING in mma...but BJ knocking out Diego is probably at the bottom of the "anything can happen" list. Sorry to bring back an old quote, but THIS almost happened in the first 10 seconds.

Sorry to bring back an old quote, but THIS almost happened in the first 10 seconds. lol....as soon as that sh** happened I began feeling a foot-in-mouth moment.. I'll admit I was wrong. BJ is the man. Diego proved he isn't ready because he literally did no damage to BJ.

Damn. BJ is the man. I honestly thought Sanchez had a chance.

The fight reminded me of Mike Tyosn's Punch Out. In between rounds you or your opponents face gets increasingly more messed up due to the damage you take. Poor Diego. . . Little Mac just couldn't pull it off.

and it blew my mind how the majority of the board thought Forrest would win in a dominating way over Anderson Silva.... ..anyways I am completely embarrassed by my picks. Jesus Christ I don't think I have ever been so wrong on a card. Last year I did amazing with my picks this year? Not so much... Frank Mir did an amazing job. He looks huge now. I still hate the guy with a passion for how condescending he comes off towards other fighters but he really did do everything he said he was going to do. I still say he has no chance against Brock Lesnar. I would like to see Mir fight someone like Carwin or Velasquez..it'll be a nice way to see how he does NOW against a big strong wrestler. BJ Penn is a f***ing animal. I seriously think he will stay undefeated. I think GSP, Anderson Silva, and BJ are going to stay undefeated for quite awhile. Which honestly blows. Because all of the fights against "top contenders" look completely one-sided. I am a fan of GSP and Silva (not so much Penn, but I respect his talent) but it would be nice to see someone actually pose a challenge against them. Kenny Florian looked great against Guida. Wonder who he gets next...Edgar? Diego? I was thinking the same thing LHW, WW, & LW all have dominate champions that won't be beat for a LOOOOOOOONG time.

well I think Lyoto has been exposed and the belt eventually will be Shoguns...
basically LHW and HW are the two belts I think "might" change hands this year...but MW, WW, and LW I think it is safe to say will have the same champions throughout 2010.

you think a guy like Jon Jones can eventually be as dominate @ LHW as Anderson, GSP, & Penn are at their weight classes?

I don't know. I'm sure Lyoto will have a different gameplan against Shogun now that he has faced him already.

Jon Jones is a beast. I would love to see him fight Lyoto in the future. But I don't think LHW will ever have a champion as dominant as Chuck was..because when Chuck was champion the division was deep, but not as deep as it is now. Basically I think the belt will continue to change hands rapidly as it has been since Rampage won it.

I think Aoki's loyalty to Japan is unquestioned, plus, consider that DREAM is currently allied with Strikeforce.
In Aoki's post-fight win after getting the DREAM Lightweight strap, he even said, "It's not the UFC, it's DREAM" in regards to the best promotion on the planet.
As much as I love Aoki, Penn would pick him apart. The only way it would go to the ground is if Penn wanted it to- as he displayed in the Diego fights and plenty of fights previously, it's nearly impossible to take down BJ Penn. Aoki's standup is nothing to get excited over, and he's been KTFO'd multiple times.
In the end Penn would keep it on the feet, pepper Aoki with shots, and either pull out a one-sided decision or rattle the cage enough to earn a TKO.
I really think Penn's status as the best lightweight in the world is unquestioned as of right now, regardless of the people he could be facing that aren't in the UFC.

I'm surprised that more people aren't shocked at how beasting Frank Mir looked. I was stunned at how shredded he looked at the weigh-ins. He gained 15lbs, of what looks to be pure muscle, from his UFC 100 fight with Brock Lesnar. He probably walked into the cage on fight night at around 270-275lbs. As much as I hate Frank Mir, I gotta give him props for getting in phenomenal shape after getting demolished by Lesnar.
I think he REALLY has it in for Lesnar and he's gonna make damn sure that he wins the final match that they'll probably have sometime in the future.
