Even though TNA is calling Angle the IWGP Champion now, it's not true. Lesnar was not the champion. He was only in physical possession of the belt. NJPW stripped him of the title close to one year ago.

Its cool for a few reason: 1. Angle is bringing the title back to the states as stated fromTNA. 2. gives him yet more credibility as cha,ion and consequently a bit more credibilty to TNA 3. People will wonder if Brock will show up ;D 4. Could open up negotiations with IWF which i believe TNA has a small working deal with anyway 5. Sets up intrigue for Angle possibly taking all the titles in TNA..as he stated

Is it possible that Lesnar actually could show up?

TNA better think about their decision to let Angle show up on TV with that title. They could be seeing a serious lawsuit from New Japan Pro-Wrestling if he does. That belt was NOT Lesnar's title. So, he had no right defending it.

But New Japan Pro-Wrestling won't give them clearance, because Lesnar was not allowed to defend that belt, nor is he allowed to call it the "IWGP" title.

Inoki owns the belt so he can do whatever he wants with it.

I don't follow New Japan Pro-Wrestling but what is this situation with Lesnar? He got released/quit a few months back due to "visa issues".

Lesnar was stripped of the IWGP title by NJPW on July 15, 2006 due to "visa issues", i.e. he didn't want to drop the title.

TNA's working with one of the Japan promotions over there. I think it's NJPW (who owns the belt). So, you never know if they'll allow them to carry it out.

I think TNA has clearance otherwise they would not have said anything about it. TNA usually doesnt say stuff about what there workers did/did not do in japan. I think this is part of a developing storyline as I eluded to with Angle winning tons of belts

Maybe New Japan and TNA are doing a dealie similar to when Tazz beat Mike Awesome for the ECW title.

I wonder if TNA will get clearance be able to slightly show some of it. I mean remember Jarrett's title win in Canada? That was long before TNA live events so I think this could be huge mainstream to people on the bubble about TNA who go on name value alone.

According to Wikipedia, Yuji Nagata is the IWGP Champ since mid April. You'd think Angle would have to beat this guy in order to become IWGP Champ...
But wow, I love the idea of Kurt Angle sweeping up a bunch of titles... as a huge fan of both Angle and Lesnar, this match came out of no where. Does anyone have a video of this match, if not, was the match any good?

According to Wikipedia, Yuji Nagata is the IWGP Champ since mid April. That's because Nagata IS the IWGP champ. All Angle is, is the TNA World Champ carrying an extra, meaningless belt that is a lawsuit waiting to happen.
