Okay, for the record.. I stopped collecting Jakks figures way back because I got tired of the half ass products I was paying full value for. Now, with Mattel I have started brand new, and bought almost everything they have put out. Great figures, but I see a lot of people don't like the headscans, which I disagree, as I like them, but see why some will say they arent as good as Jakks. Now, I also was thinking, was Jakks perfect from RA1 ? Not at all. Lets refresh. (Credit pics to whoever they belong to, none are mine)  Mattel's first shot at Orton. Scan is great IMO, figure is perfect. (Mattels first shot on his headscan, I know Heritage was first)  This was basically Jakks first Orton, only imagine it in blue. I couldn't find a pic of RA1, but generally same figure. Scan is not so good, it's also Jakks first attempt.  HHH, scan is pretty nice. Lets compare it to Jakks first HHH.(RA)   (RA SCAN) You tell me what you think.  See Henry and Kane.   (Reused Henry scan, same scan from FM.) Whole point is, Just like Jakks, this is Mattel's start, and it is very good for their first shot. Like Jakks, they will improve. Unlike Jakks they will continue to improve. I am very impressed so far, and hope I made a point by showing everyone needs their start, and this is Mattels. No arguing please, just discuss, I am just expressing a point. |

i totally agree that mattel has some good scans early on. Jakks first attempt at Triple H is horible,it looks like he's smelling sumthin nasty.

Im liking the majority of scans so far and the only problem i have is with the way some are painted, like edge, his elite was painted meh but the heritage version is good.

Yeah some people like to claim the scans are rubbish. Sure there is a small bunch of those that need work however there have been plenty of hits where the only thing that detracts is the painting. Mattel has some of the best scans.

i know what you mean. mattel wwe figures are far superior to jakks and anyone who disagrees is in denial. don't get me wrong, jakks figures were awesome when they were coming out and everthing, but as an older collector i appreciate the mattel figures more due to their scale and appearance. as jakks continued their line, especially towards the end (regardless of their budgeting reasons), their figure quality fell down the drain. (small paint apps on tights or none at all, ect.) so i just feel mattel will continue improving their line (have you seen the matt hardy and r-truth figures from elite series 2 in person yet?) and i will continue collecting them. i am more excited about collecting wrestling figures now than ever before!!! i can't wait for basic and elite series 3 to come out!!!

psssh...That Triple H scan is godawful and the dijon mustard hair makes it far worse. That Punk scan isn't all that great either. They are getting better and I have stated this recently, but I still think the first batch were terrible. The Trips is terrible, the Undertaker is terrible, the Kofi is terrible, the Batista is terrible with his peanut head, The Big Show is a nightmare, the Edge is an abortion, the Carlito is an abomination, the Primo is terrible, the Morrison is terrible...terrible terrible TERRIBLE!!!! They have gotten quite a bit better thank goodness. I hope they keep up the good work such as Jericho, Orton, Mark Hank, Kane, Beth and Santino, etc....I hope that Regal is great in particular. That won't be out til I get back to the States, but it is one of my most wanted...though the others were just plain bad.

Primo is the only one that is bad not because of the scan but his head being too small.

Some have great scans while others have horrible scans. Jakks was the same way.

im a big fan of mattel but some of their head scans were huge misses (Kozlov, Swagger, Morrison) but some of them are great. Just like Jakks they are hit or miss, some due to the paint job (Taker) so hopefully they improve over time.

personnally 75% are epic. 15% are bad due too paint. 10% are downright horrible. Triple H and taker and shawn and edge are bad due too paint. Primo and morrison and jack swagger are there worst and the only major complaints. Jacks was worse then mattels swaggers so I can get that. Primo is just way too cartoony and smiley. Morrison well he doesn't have a gigantic forehead.

Morrison's scan is really the only one I do not like at all. I don't see how everyone rips there scans so much. They are all passable. Some of Jakks were not at all(RA20 Striker). I've said before, I LOVE my Jakks collection, but I am more than happy to buy the majority of Mattel's new products.

I don't think it's the "head scan", as much as the "painting job". But overall I'm happy with Mattel's headscans. They look pretty good to me.  |

However i do think primo looks fine, it would be a letdown not doing a smiling scan for him and id say mattel did well. Swagger up close and when you can see the details actually looks alright but the hair ruins it and the paintjob ruins it but jakks was a bit off as well. Same with morrison, jakks wasnt that great either. However if we look at the numbers, these 3 out of the 20 or so scans out so far is not a bad record at all. As Y2J Problem pointed out, lots are great and some have potential but are a little clumsy because of paint with just a small percentage of bad ones. |

thank you!!! I agree! people have been bitching about the scans but this is Mattels first attempt at it! it took jakks awhile to start pumping out awesome scans. Just wait and see, I bet they look 1000x's better in a few years.

Now, I give my opinions on the ones you've bashed. Batista - Better than anything Jakks gave us, even their straight-faced scan. Edge - Cocky smirk, spot on. Punk - Another cocky style smirk, spot on. Big Show - Angry grunting scan, looks good. Look at the angry scan we got from Jakks. Terrible. Carlito - Better than the 3 that Jakks gave us. Primo - Never got one from Jakks [Micro Aggression did not count as a figure line to me]. So for the first ever scan of Primo, it's good. Morrison - The only one that I agree with you on. Morrison's isn't that great. Triple H - Have you seen Triple H, not wrestling? His hair is just as blonde as can be. So the hair color is fine. Kofi - He's seen smiling more than the serious headscan that Jakks gave us over and over. Undertaker - That scan is much better than what Jakks gave us. 1.) That damn tongue sticking out scan was garbage. You wanna call a scan garbage? Call that scan garbage over Mattel's scan. |

I personally think for the most part, the scans are pretty well done. Some aren't the best (Swagger) but the detail on the figures makes up for it, tbh.

I agree with what your saying. Mattel is within the first two months of production for goodness sakes. The only scan I have a problem with so far is the Big Show I still prefer the Jakks screaming scan. I think the painting could be better though. All you have to do is look at the Swagger Mattel gave us and then Jakks or Ted Dibiase. Mattels Teds scan is dead on it's like they shrunk down the actuall Dibiase to 6" outside of the plastic. All I have to say is................. DAMN!!!
