Anyone else thing GSP would dominate him now? i think gsp could possibly win but i dont think he would dominate i think that chael could kept anderson down better than gsp could basically because guys like thiago alves and jon fitch could get up and out from underneath gsp but maybe im wrong i hope gsp would dominate

On another note, I am very sad to see my good friend and Jiu-Jitsu coach Ricardo Almeida get submitted like that. Very hard to watch that, but huge props to Hughes. People need to shut up about him being old and over-the-hill. He's strong as hell to be choking out someone from that awkward position.

Anyone else thing GSP would dominate him now? Considering GSP is a master of the low single, I think he'd have no problems taking Silva down and doing the same thing. I've said it all along that a good wrestler just needs to avoid stand up and shoot in on Silva for the take down. If they can keep it chest to chest and give him no space, Silva will have nothing in defense. Tonight proved that. Sonnen gave him a slight bit of space about 15 seconds before Silva snapped his legs up. I saw it, Silva saw it. Everybody else probably saw it too. That was Anderson's only opportunity and he got it. I still say he was lucky after getting beaten and pounded for 5 rounds. Key to victory, shoot in on Silva and then body shot body shot body shot. Break him down to nothing after the first round, repeat in 2nd and try for a finish. On another note, Matt Hughes made me very happy. As a wrestler myself, seeing him apply the head arm like he did was great! As Matt said, it's an old wrestling move, and highly unutilized! Wrestlers need to go back to the basics and refocus on shots and working the outside head control subs.

Yeah, I've been training jiu-jitsu under him and Renzo Gracie for 4 or so years now. It was very hard to watch though.

I haven't made any kind of decision to be an MMA fighter. It requires tons of training and lots of dedication. I have been doing kickboxing since I was 12 and Jiu-Jitsu for 5 years. I have thought about doing some amateur fights, but nothing has been certain.

That's sick man. I'm thinking of learning some kind of martial art, but I don't want to be a fighter. Thats cool tho...I wish I had taken something when I was younger.

It takes real dedication and hard training. The problem now is that I have a good job I have held for over 6 years and I don't think I would just drop that to TRY and see if I would do good in MMA, but like I said, I have thought of trying some amateur fights.

It was VERY clear the tap was made. Making excuses like that is just very cheap. Just say "Hey, I fought a great fight and he caught me in a submission, fair and square. I'll do better next time." Outside of what he said to Rosenthal, did he really go on and on about not tapping though? I haven't seen any of the post-fight interviews (if there are any)yet. I expected it to be a repeat of his fight with Paulo, but he seemed to shut himself up before going too far. Anyways, it was a great night of fights. It was really hard to see Sonnen go down after shocking everyone up until that point. From the moment he landed that first big punch on Silva, all of us were on the edge of our seats watching intently. Just an all around great night of fights, despite the bitter ending. Overall I'm just really proud of Chael. Only the people who love a good underdog were really giving him any sort of legitimate chance, and he went WAY over the expectations of ever diehard Silva fan. In reality, tonight was just a great night for both sides. The Silva fans saw their hero show the heart of a champion, and the Silva haters saw him look a little human for once while getting dominated. As much as I loved watching Chael during this whole thing, I also gotta say that I don't think he should get an immediate rematch. He fought the good fight, did great, but got finished. No controversy whatsoever, regardless of how hard it is to swallow for Sonnen fans. With his performance, Chael simply placed himself ahead of someone like Nate, as a fighter who lost to the champ and deserves another chance. -Edit- Nvm on the initial question, I took way too long to get this post out and my question was answered about Chael and the tap out stuff. Yea but he DIDN'T tap in that fight.

For some reason after watching that fight I feel the same way as I did when I found out Santa was fake when I was a kid...I pictured Silva as some unstoppable badass...but now it's like wow.

In that photo, you can tell Silva was REALLY trying his hardest to get the submission, and it paid off for him. I enjoyed the end of that fight. It was an awesome and very, VERY dramatic ending. Yeah, VERY lucky too. Anderson had a serious golden horseshoe up his ass tonight, that is for sure. Chael deserves a rematch. He did MORE than enough to prove that he does. End of story.

I've been training for 8 months, and have my first grappling tournament in November. I've been training under Marcelo Alonso for BJJ. Anyways, that's awesome to hear man.

Alonso is a Gracie black-belt too from what I hear. I almost did my first grappling tournament last year in the purple belt division, but that got scrapped. I had high hopes to do my first one this year now that I am close to a brown belt under Almeida, but we'll see how things roll out.

Roy lost, but I'm still proud of him. Any other heavyweight would have probably went down quickly.

It was an awesome night of fights, the main event was very intresting to say the least.
I thought Silva was done but he is still the best around!

It was an awesome night of fights, the main event was very intresting to say the least. I thought Silva was done but he is still the best around! Even though he won, he certainly didn't look the best, that is for sure. He got his ass handed to him for the better part of 5 rounds and in the dying minutes of the 5th, he got extremely lucky with the triangle and beat him. If he didn't slap that on, we would have a new champion of the world and everyone knows that for a fact. But he did and therefore won as a result of it. However, Sonnen looked FAR better than Silva did last night. Sonnen proved to alot of people that he was much better than they gave him credit for. He deserves another crack at the belt for sure. Hey James...One question for ya...Do you STILL think it was laughable that people picked Sonnen to win after seeing him dominate Silva for nearly all 5 rounds?? ;D

I dunno, I wouldn't use the term "lucky". Especially when there were skills invloved in securing the victory. There was no luck about it. Anderson saw an opening, exploited it, and got himself the win. That's what champions do.
When I think of luck, I think of back in the day when Matt Lindland ko'd himself with a takedown. That's luck. A guy getting th win when he clearly shouldn't have. Silva came through in the clutch, and that's why he's still the number one guy.
If there is a rematch, I see Silva dominating. He'll know what to look for the second time around. MAD props to Sonnen though. I thought he'd get steamrolled going into this fight but he made a believer out me.
