I think he's pulling a Griffin on this.
Then again Belfort has done nothing in the UFC to warrant being able to pull a Griffin.

After UFC 72, Griffin has stated he will never ever ever etc fight out of the US as it disrupts his prep.

If UFC wants fighters to fight in certain places, they'll do it. Belfort was going to fight in Abu Dhabi, so I don't think he REALLY minds fighting outside of the U.S. unless there's something extra for him to gain.

I think it's been more a recent thing of Vitor personally. He has been about with training camps etc and he recently moved his entire family to Las Vegas so he could focus on training and competing there for the title shot he thought he would be getting!!

He has been with Xtreme Couture for awhile now. I'm not too sure he cares about a title shot. He said he didn't plan on waiting for Silva to get healthy, and always planned to fight in November.

Shall we get back to the topic at hand? That being the fact that Sonnen doesn't really deserve a rematch.

Shall we get back to the topic at hand? That being the fact that Sonnen doesn't really deserve a rematch. That is not a fact but rather your opinion. First of all, who is there for him to fight? Belcher might be done. Vitor still needs to "earn" it. For the record I think he has. However, Sonnen went out and threw Anderson a beating. Rib injury or not, these guys never enter a fight 100%. So trying to cite that has evidence is a moot point. It is my opinion that he should get a rematch. Maybe Anderson will dominate Chale like he has done to every one else. Maybe the outcome will be the same as the first fight. I think we the fans deserve the right to know though. So we can have a clear awnser as to the rib injury really effected his preformace, or is Chale really that good? A rematch would awnser all those questions. I do not see what rematch would hurt. I think people just want something to bitch about. So really, what would a rematch hurt?

In my opinion, it's a fact that he doesn't deserve one. He lost, he tapped out, he said "I can't continue to fight any longer." He quit, and he himself even stated that. He flat out said that he at first didn't remember tapping out, and that the ref more or less had to "wake him up."
I see the point you are trying to make, and there isn't much else in the MW division that could actually pose a threat to Anderson, or even an interesting match up. As far as Vitor still needing to earn a shot in some people's eyes, that is why I think the best decision is a Sonnen vs Vitor match.
It gives Anderson enough time to heal, gives Vitor a match without waiting longer, gives those that don't think Sonnen should get an automatic rematch a "#1 Contenders" match to prove who deserves it, and gives Sonnen a chance to prove once again that he deserves a shot more than anyone else.
As far as the rib injury being a moot point, I do agree. That's why I'm not against a rematch. I'm against an automatic rematch. I want to see those questions answered, and I don't think a rematch would hurt at all. I'm just in the mind of people earning things.
