The first woman to be executed in the U.S. in five years has been put to death in Virginia for arranging the killings of her husband and a stepson over a $250,000 insurance payment. Teresa Lewis, 41, died by injection at 9:13 p.m. Thursday. She became the first woman executed in Virginia in nearly a century. Supporters and relatives of the victims watched her execution at Greensville Correctional Center. Lewis enticed two men through sex, cash and a promised cut in an insurance policy to shoot the sleeping men in October 2002. Both triggermen were sentenced to life in prison, and one committed suicide in 2006. Mentally disabled people aren't as stupid as you think. If she made a decision like that, she should be tried as an equal. That's a pretty elaborate plan to put together for a "mentally disabled" woman.

She's dead, one of the guys killed himself, now all we need to do is hope the other guy offs himself or gets shanked in prison. All three of them behaved reprehensibly. Killing people for money? People who do that have no place in this world.

People who do that have no place in this world. Soldiers are hired killers, what's your stance on them? Are they behaving reprehensibly. |

I think all that she did to make sure that her husband and stepson died proved that she wasn't really disabled. She had the right state of mind to hire two people, put up the pitbull they had so it wouldn't attack, and let the men in. She had plenty of time to change her mind but she went through with it and now she has to answer to God for what she has done. If she has to answer to God then why were we the ones to determine her date of death? Well, why was she the one to determine the date and time of her Husbands and stepsons death? She did not seem like your everyday mentally intellectually- disabled person, to be able to come up with this intricate plot to murder two people. Seems like something her defense put together. In the end, she got what she had coming to her. |

She did not seem like your everyday mentally intellectually- disabled person, to be able to come up with this intrikit plot to murder two people. Seems like something her defense put together. In the end, she got what she had coming to her. So you are saying she outwitted several doctors and actually does not have a 71 IQ, but a much large IQ enough to fool doctor's into believing she is really disabled? She had the free will, apparently, to do this. The state does not have free will, they can choose to stop the killings at any time. |

This person is not it. Then why doesn't every death row inmate fake an IQ test to get off death row? So she was smarter than her doctor's who said she had that IQ? I mean she must have been to fool them into thinking she had such a low IQ. Well the Supreme Court were the ones to put the IQ level at 70 for mentally "intellectually- disabled." I guess she wasn't smart enough to really fail it if she couldn't score below the 70 IQ mark. |

I'm pretty sure we've executed a mentally disabled person since then. I looked it up it was the first time Virginia has executed a woman since 1912. Also, "her fate also had drawn appeals from the European Union, an indignant rebuke from Iran." My gosh, even Iran was condemning it and they kill people too, but apparently they stop at the mentally disabled. |

My gosh, even Iran was condemning it and they kill people too, but apparently they stop at the mentally disabled.  Kinda obvious it's stupid if it hasn't been done since 19 ing 12 people.. Quit thinking " nothings wrong " it's dumb, yeah she's an idiot for doing what she did, lock her up for life they didn't have to kill the woman.. *thinks to myself this is a perfect time to bring up how the Government wants to lower population* This just shows how the Government is trying to lower our population...  |

This whole debate shouldn't be over the IQ... What she did was a terrible thing, and deserves to be punished for it. I would feel the same way if it were to be anyone else.
