They could choose not to kill or they could go to the cops and say "Hey, this person just tried to hire me to kill."

Whichever you prefer. But they still pulled the trigger. What was this woman going to do to them if they refused? Hire more hitmen to kill them and her husband and his son? They knew what they were doing and they did it. Do we know if this woman knew right from wrong?

Do you really honestly believe this woman masterminded a complex plot to murder her husband and had no idea whatsoever that it was wrong? If so, then she doesn't deserve to be in jail at all, she deserved to be in a psychiatric hospital.

She knew that with her husband and his son out of the picture, she'd get the $250,000 insurance policy. She KNEW how to make sure that they would be out of the picture. She KNEW what was going to happen, she KNEW that what she organized was wrong. There is no way that you can rationalize this, or justify her actions as being right. Whether she was a dumbass or not... All this crying over it ain't gonna bring her back. She's dead. Her low IQ ain't gonna bring her husband or step-son back either. What she had organized is done, and now she's paid the price for her crimes too.

Was that the only determination the state had for establishing if one is mentally intellectually- disabled? Their may be other qualifications she did not meet that meant she was eligible for capital punishment. Plus capital punishment is something that a state determines, not the federal government. Plus...it's not a Constitutional matter. The Supreme Court seemed to think it was a constitutional matter when they ruled that mentally disabled people cannot be executed. It violates the "Cruel and unusual punishment" clause in the Constitution. If she wasn't killed, wouldn't it violate everyone being equal under the law?

Not at all, because every day someone is sentenced to life instead of death or death instead of life. Not everyone gets death. If you really wanted to, I guess, you could argue that even having a choice is not equal since some won't get the same punishment someone else gets. And if that argument was used (the everyone equal under the law) would be invalid since not everyone is really equal under the law.

Funny you should say that. She didn't kill anyone and she got killed. The two guys who did kill got life. Whether or not she pulled the trigger, in the case of murder setup, is irrelevant... As well it should be. Do we know if this woman knew right from wrong? Being that she was apparently mentally stable enough to have a committed relationship with a man, and raise a child... Yes, I think she knew "right from wrong." With an IQ of 71, she may not have known what was right or what was wrong. She killed him to collect his life insurance policy!! You're telling me that she knew how to setup a murder, but she didn't know that murder is bad? Really? ... Really?

You kill someone? No, you get murdered, you go to jail. That's fine. But I missed the part where she actually pulled the trigger.
