They wouldn't be there if there wasn't a proven reason that they help save your life.

It's second nature for me, and I don't understand why it isn't to some people. It's an incredibly simple precaution that could drastically increase your chances of surviving or avoiding serious injury should you get in an accident. The five seconds or less it takes me to reach behind me and pull it around my body is well worth it.
The only time I don't wear a seat belt is when I come home from somewhere and pick up the mail. I stop at the end of the driveway, unbuckle to get out and grab the mail, and then make the 1,000 foot trek down the driveway without the seat belt on. Other than that, I always wear it.

My personal rule is if you're in the front seat, it's required. But if you're in the back, couldn't care less. i agree and it's the same rules in my car. i personally always wear mine.

While I have heard of circumstances where not wearing a seatbelt has saved someone's life I fully support the law on seatbelts. I've never really had to think about it since it's like an instinct to me, I'll look over and it'll be on. I feel much safer wearing a seatbelt.

I honestly can not believe the answers of some people.
"I'm too lazy?" Seriously?

Look, I understand that there have been instances where not wearing one has saved a life. But break that down into a statistic and put it next to the amount of people who'd be dead if they weren't wearing a seat belt. Or people who'd still be alive if they had. You'd surely see that the argument shouldn't even be brought up.
There's no reason not to wear one. None. The laws aren't based on theory. It's proven that it makes you more safe while driving.

I honestly can not believe the answers of some people. "I'm too lazy?" Seriously? Yes, I am too lazy. Its not like I am endangering anybody else's life. I'm not speeding. The only person in danger is myself, and I am fine with that.

This, but I think it's different in the US for some reason. I don't know what the reason is, but they seem more reluctant to wearing them. Not bashing anyone, just stating what I think from what i've read and personally viewed first hand.

I wear mine out of habit more then anything. I do not think it makes me any more safe or any less, its all circumstantial. I only created the habit due to the law in my state regarding said thing. I don't care whether people where them or not, its on them or not depending on whether or not it saved their life or not. Do I think I am any safer...no.
I think airbags are insane though, and make sure that any care I purchase with them, is without them soon after being purchased....

I'll take the $25 ticket if I get pulled over, it doesnt bother me.

I support the seat belt law and I'm one of the people who insists everyone in my vehicle buckle up, regardless of whether you're in the front or back seat.
Keep in mind that if you get in an accident and the people in the back aren't buckled in, they can basically become large human projectiles. That's why some accident victims get ejected from vehicles. So if you're in my back seat while I'm driving and some other vehicle rear-ends us at a high speed, you're going to fly forward... right toward me.
So even if I'm buckled in, I could die from a passenger in my back seat -- who chose not to buckle up -- flying into my head or neck with tons of force. That's why I don't give my passengers the choice.

Is it going to bother your friends and family when you're killed in a car accident because you didn't wear your seatbelt? I could very easily die if I crashed wearing a seat belt. See, here's my problem. People act like the laws of seatbelt wearing were made due to some theory and fear mongering. It's proven that they make you more safe, despite what you think or feel. Can you easily die while wearing one? Sure. You can die while walking on the sidewalk too. Doesn't mean you starting walking in the middle of the street to get where you have to go.
