Seems like the consensus here is that you need to cut her loose.

Seems like the consensus here is that you need to cut her loose. How has nobody said anything about how these were extras that he was going to sell. I think she might not be in the wrong if she's married to a scalper who's been promising to get rid of his extras but hasn't yet. What if they live in a small apartment and his crap is taking up a lot of space?

She's married to her best friend and love for the past 10 years, that in order to support his own wrestling figure collection, which at one point was one of the largest and most comprehensive in the world, used to sell CS on ebay. I would buy lots and piecemeal them out. It's been a good supplemental income, and we live in a three-bedroom house with a huge partially finished basement.

Also if they live in a small apartment surely she either knew about his collecting/investing/hoarding issues beforehand or she likely has just as much junk cluttering the area herself. Even if she doesn't that is still not an excuse by any means and if she really couldn't deal with it anymore than she could have left instead. According to his story if it is the whole truth and nothing but the truth then there is no justification for her actions.

So how's your basement today? How bad is it now? Sorry to hear about your wife. She was so wrong to do such thing.
My advice is, take her to your trusty priest (You are Christian, rite?) Then consult your problem to him. Hope that the priest can cool down you two. Don't choose to divorce her. You two were united by God. Don't waste His work.
Sorry I'm not try to preach you. Just give you from my point of view. God Bless

No, through a series of compromises, I scaled back my personal collection over the last three or four years selling off my complete LJN, Hasbro, WCW Galoob, OSFTM ECW collections, among hundreds of other figures. I have complete collections of my 5 favorite wrestlers still Foley, Flair, Jericho, Michaels, and Piper.

Yes, my wife and I are on the mend, it hasn't been easy. There's wrongdoing on my part too you know, things that are between us. The throwing out of the CS figs is just a symptom of a larger problem. But we are working on it. But one of the terms of the compromise was that she was NOT allowed to remove anything from the house without my permission.

Obviously collecting figures was/is something that you really enjoy and was/is a big part of you. I hope that whatever the Mrs. has to do in return is just as great and that you can both see the compromises that you have made for each other because you want each other more than anything you could ever collect. I sincerely hope that when you decided to make the compromise that you were ready to let figure collecting go or that you were able to make arrangements to pick the hobby back up at a later time ( After children, buying a large home, taking that vacation or whatever the case(s) may be. ) . I also hope that you don't let this bad experience ruin your love of collecting or your relationship if they are both truly important to you.

What if they live in a small apartment and his crap is taking up a lot of space? She knew what she was getting into. It isn't like this "habit" of collecting figures just appeared. And they're his to sell if he wants to. If you don't agree with his sales, fine. Don't bid on his auctions.

Damn, listening to some of you guys', I almost feel bad that my wife collects more figures than I do.
She'd probably hit me with Sweet Chin Music if I told her to do away with the HBK collection we've amassed for her over the past four years.

To be fair, nothing was from my personal collection, it was all multiples strictly for resale. OHHHH, so you're a scalper. And apparently not a very good one. In that case, I have no pity for you. But at the very least she could've donated them instead of trashing them.

I tapped the a** of Little Jimmy's Mama while standing in the check out line too. 'Cause I'm such a bad person for reselling.

SO let me ask the original poster this: - Where these "extras" justing lying around the house in common area (i.e. kitchen, dining room)? - Did your wife express to you that you had X number of days to sell them or they're trash? Because to be honest, if they were just lying around the house, i woulnd't blame her for throwing them out. But if they were in you collection area, that is kind of no-no for her. Also, if she said you had x numbe rof days to sell or else and you didn't do so, then that is kind of gray area. But you can revert to the above for a little more direction. My wife knows better, she has tried to get my to sell them or yardsale them. No way, We started dating in 2002. She knew about my wrestling figure "problem" before we got together. Ha Ha, she has bought my tons of stuff threw the years. So she knows I have alot of money into them. We got married in 2005 and then has our kids in 2007 and 2008. So I guess the next topic would be. "does your kids try to take your figures?" They know better. I grab some for my son who is now 4. But he is more into Dinos and How to train your dragon and Hotwheels. Any of you have kids that try to take your figures? My oldest is 3 and my youngest is 1(both boys). My youngest isn't too caring about them. he may take one off the shelf and look at and put it down on the ground. My oldest used to take some and put them down in various place sin my man cave. Only certain ones (CS 16 Sid variants, CS 25 Briscos, etc) do I really pay attention to when if he takes them. Otherwise, if they are ruined, it just gives me an excuse to hunting on eBay for them. Plus all my REALLY valuable ones, (1/100s, etc) are up high or in a case. So now worries there.
