That's ing crazy. I think BJ is an all-around better fighter than GSP anyway, so this WILL be a fight. It's also nuts because even Caesar Gracie himself has said he has huge reservations about his fighters fighting BJ. Daaaaaaaamn.

very lame. diaz/gsp was the money fight, not condit. i love condit/gsp and i love penn/diaz... but diaz/gsp was the fight. if they wouldve fired him or something drastic like that, i wouldve bought this as a legit excuse... but to demote him from main, to co-main, makes this a really in lame excuse to get him out of the title fight.

GSP/Diaz is the money fight, but BJ/Diaz is about as perfect of a stylistic match-up you can get. Some of the best hands and jiu jitsu in MMA.

I'm actually looking forward to this fight alittle more, nevertheless I would of loved to see Diaz have a chance to have the welterweight championship belt around his waist, but beating a LEGEND like BJ Penn will make Nick Diaz withoutashadowofadoubt one of the BEST welterweights in the UFC, and if he can beat BJ, he could hang with Fitch, Koscheck, etc.

This is honestly (and I know it sounds very cliché) the most EVENLY MATCHED fight in MMA history. Both guys are monsters on the feet and on the ground. HO-LEE . I know it's not for the title, but this is the real "style" fight that Penn and Diaz need right now.

I think Penn will come in extremely determined, since like you said this is a much better style matchup for him. If not a KO then a TKO.

I'm pretty confident no one can KO Diaz after the shots he took from Daley.

Man this is legitimately ing exciting. I mean I can understand 100% why people are disappointed, with the "Welterweight Superfight of the Century" going out the window, and it's even more crazy that Diaz is still fighting on the card...right under the fight he was suppose to be in. But anyone who can't/won't get excited for Diaz vs. Penn needs to stop watching MMA. Tonight.

I guess I won't have to cancel my flight/hotel arrangements after all.

listen im very excited for diaz/penn. and condit/gsp infact... if you think im not buying this ppv, youre insane. im just a touch angry at what i feel is now a flimsy excuse, because you demoted a guy from the main event, to the co main event, because he didnt show up to the press conference. is this danas way of going "wow we may be blowing our wad too early giving them gsp/diaz... we can get buys on gsp/condit and penn/diaz... and then set up gsp/diaz for another ppv after that [or gsp/penn again]". i think its bullcraphonestly.

Think about what would happen if Diaz finishes BJ and GSP wins... that will generate even MORE hype. Try to think of the positives now. And, Condit vs. Penn OR Diaz would be a ing insane fight, knowing how these guys fight.

That wasn't directed at you hammer. So sorry if that came off that way. I'm just looking online and seeing alot of people still acting like the whole night is ruined.
On top of GSP/Condit and Penn/Diaz, we still get Mitrione/Kongo, Nelson/Cro Cop, Siver/Cerrone, Hioki/Roop.
It's one of the biggest, most explosive UFC cards EVER, and as far as I'm concerned, little-to-nothing has changed.

I don't know. I think if BJ takes his cardio training seriously, he may have a shot, but GSP's top game is too good in comparison to BJ's bottom game.
It all comes down to cardio for Penn. In my opinion, he beat Georges in the first fight, but wasn't ready enough for the rematch. If BJ came out like he did against Sanchez and Florian, against Georges, he'd have a much easier time.

Agreed.
And sticking to a realistic game plan, meaning not trying to over-power him like he did Fitch.

I'm fully confident that Diaz will beat BJ, and then end up beating GSP later on.

I will be rooting for Penn in this one. Should be a tremendous fight. Let's just hope Diaz can find the time to promote it, that's all. Seeing as he was too busy and couldn't find the time for his Welterweight title shot against GSP....I hope BJ kicks his ass.

Such a better card now...IMO.
I feel like Penn vs. Diaz is FOTY material. Both have iron f***ing chins, good boxing, and amazing bjj.
I honestly never thought it would happen, though, because of Diaz and Penn training together in the past. With that being said, Diaz wins this. He has always been a good fighter but since leaving the UFC he has evolved so much.He dictates the pace in every fight. I see this going to distance but Diaz frustrates Penn with his Boxing.
