That's not surprising. I guess the Pirate Bay is the next one they'll go after.

How do they figure $500 million? How do they figure ANY of these amounts they create with how much piracy supposedly costs the industry.

I buy a DVD and loan it out to 20 friends. Is that wrong and illegal? I'd guess the MPAA would think so since 20 people didn't buy the DVD. I just cost them $400 (if each DVD is $20).

I'll own up to having pirated a few pieces of major label music in my time, but when it comes to independent labels or bands putting out their work totally DIY, it's buy or go without.

Man...kinda sucks for people who used to forums full of Megaupload links to download old episodes of Raw, Smackdown and ECW (that don't get released on DVD) and still had loads left to DL. I'd be pretty upset if I was one of those people. Just saying.

Didn't know MegaUpload started back in 2005, found out about the site in 2009. Never really used it, apart from downloading update packs for EWR.

Not really that surprising. It really was just a matter of time before something happened to them.

I'm disappointed as I used them for legal downloads and most of the time if I did use it for something copyrighted it was already taken down by dmca, I'm pissed about this.

That's what's confusing me. Megaupload already had an active process of deleting copyrighted material. There was no reason to shut the entire site down.
