This is crazy! while it is a bold act, this is what the government wanted. They've taken the bait. This is going to give lawmakers more reason to want control of the internet, so people like these won't be able to do such a thing. Anon's mindset is all wrong, they aren't teaching them that if you take our sites down, we'll take yours down...it's teaching them that they need to lobby harder since they have hard evidence of it now... Goodbye internet. There is NO reason to be happy about this. Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Anonymous is just going to make things worse for us and for themselves. How does that make things better? Why should we let the cyber terrorists win? Look, what do you guys want? People bitch about things like SOPA that obviously go too far, but then bitch when they take down websites that are BLATANTLY and FLAGRANTLY violating the law, which is exactly what they SHOULD be doing rather than passing laws like SOPA or PIPA. Copyright law exists for a reason, and without it we would be culturally dead as a society, so live with it. I think they just want to be able to download/steal whatever they want. Once the monster's loose is hard to put it back in it's cage. People think they are entitled to free media these days. The charges may be alleging that they merely claimed to be doing that, but didn't. And I would be totally shocked if this was untrue.

In other News the MPAA is mad at Anonymous for taking its site down. "The motion picture and television industry has always been a strong supporter of free speech. We strongly condemn any attempts to silence any groups or individuals. " Qoute from MPAA, not so fun from the other side, is it? So wait, the MPAA has pirated media on their site?

No, but they are strongly supporting (and probably also authored) 2 bills that will greatly hinder freedom of expression/speech.

You forgot to mention the Millions of Dollars they are giving to Politicians to vote to pass this bill. Great place to live.. our Politicians are allowed to be paid off for Bills to pass.

I've downloaded a few files from megaupload, and I really hope that that doesn't matter as long as you didn't upload files to the site. I hope they don't do this to Mediafire, i've downloaded a whole lot from there. And I downloaded Limewire. But i'm not really sure if they can do anything about that because Limewire is hosted by CNet which is owned by CBS who is one of the people supporting SOPA.

Well apparently the US government are planning to fine and jail anyone who ever downloaded copyright content from Megaupload. ![](http://www.wrestlingfigs.com/images/wfcensored.gif) .

I downloaded from Megaupload almost daily, lol. I'm really not too worried, how would they fine or jail the millions and millions that used that site, especially when a good portion of those people aren't American.

Wanted to share this. It's what's up on the Megaupload site. Let's you know what they're being charged with.

First Limewire, now this. They're taking out the major p2p's one by one. Vuze, BitTorrent, and all those others better watch out.

Was quite worried this morning when I watched JeepersMedia's video on it, but now after looking on wikipedia, it says there are 8 million users on Megaupload. There is no way they can fine and jail everyone. So nothing really to worry about.

It's actually 81 million users, but still, I understand your point, even though other people may not.

The chances of the US government actually suing that many people is extremely low. Plus it will be for downloading things like big movies and what not. The RIAA would LOVE to sue for this stuff but likely won't, their lawyers know the cost involved already. It's cheaper to all involved(including the government) to cut their losses and just let it be the warning for people.
Seriously, I know the government likes wasting money for stupid crap; but even they should know how much it will waste on lawsuits for this.
