Well yup this is a win for Shogun they might as well just mark it down now.............I'd love for Vera to pick out a miracle win though as he was one of my favorites at one point.

Ugh. How the hell did Vera find his way into a main event on national television?

looking at the rest of that card...
machida/bader, browne/rothwell and lombard is still supposed to be on it vs an unnamed opponent. all 3 of those fights wouldve been a better choice for main event than shogun/vera. machida/bader specifically.

I think it is a horrible match for shogun but he does need a win...
I am EXTREMELY disappointed he turned down Glover...but it does make sense why he would.
Vera has fantastic striking his biggest problems in past fights has been his opponents have been to scared to stand-up with him. They neutralize his gameplan. Which is a knock on Vera for not being well-rounded but Shogun isn't going to take him down....this will be a stand-up war and I wouldn't be surprised if it was FOTN.

I actually like this fight more than Shogun/Silva. Vera's one of those guys that hasn't really lived up to his potential... he looked like the next "big thing" at one point. I'd like him to put up a good fight but if Shogun gets him to the ground, it will be a painful night.

Should have been Shogun vs. Machida II as the main event.
Vera being put against him is just laughable.

And Bisping has been injured.
Lombard will step in to fight Tim Boetsch at 149.

Should have been Shogun vs. Machida III as the main event. Vera being put against him is just laughable. Fixed that for ya And Yeah I don't see Shogun taking this to the ground at all its gonna be a stand up war and I really doubt that Vera will be able to stop Shogun especially after seeing the fight with Henderson who has arguabley the best KO power in the LHW division.

It was early in the morning, give me a break! haha
I think it's a really silly match-up, but I can see what UFC is doing. They want high-action for the FOX cards now.

Im highly anticipating not only this fight but the whole fight card. #1: Its FREE with some big star power #2 Vera despite his last few bad performances has great muay thai and you can bet all your marbles that on National tv, he;s going balls to the wall and meeting Shogun in the center of the octagon. #3: They'res many potential KO and FOTN's.

I actually wouldn't count Vera out just yet. Lol why not? As others have said this main event is a joke, and the ratings will be a bigger joke.

UFC aired a special on Fox earlier today called "Road to the Octagon". I'm sure it'll be up on Youtube soon enough.
