I think Gustafsson needs a couple more ranked wins before we start considering him. eh, I guess you're right. I'm just really looking forward to seeing them fight down the road

Jones would cut through Machida like a hot knife through butter if they fought again.

Awesome card top to bottom, possibly my favourite card of the year so far. Machida's the only one who I thought may stand a chance after the night of fights. I say give Gus Shogun after this to get his title shot. I still think Jones demolishes anyone at LHW but Machida is the only one so far who looked like doing anything troubling to Jones.

Can't believe I doubted Machida.
Shogun looked terrible again. The Shogun who fought Machida on two separate occasions I think is forever gone.
I'm calling it now, unless Jones gets H-Bombed - Jones beats Machida by KO in the first round. Love Machida and Bones, but I can't see Machida doing any better than he did the first time they fought.
So Happy for Swick, dude deserved it.

Come on, man. Bader vs. Lyoto was the biggest mismatch in years, if you ask me.

Anyone see that text result pole after the main event? 13% voted for Bader to get the shot....
Awesome card, exactly what UFC needed on Fox. Couple great KO's, a great slick submission in a great fight and then a war. Machida getting the shot was expected after how terrible Shogun looked against Vera. I'm sorry, and I love Shogun, but that was the third straight fight he looked terrible in, cardio wise. If you know you're signing on for a 5 rounder, at least train for it. He looked dead in the second. Nothing in that fight would lead me to believe he'd do any better against Jones than he did before. I just don't see that Shogun of old anymore.
As far as Machida destroying Bader, it was expected pretty much and he did it with one punch. STILL not enthused at the possibility of him fighting Jones, but Gus and Glover aren't ready yet. But if Hendo wins at least its a fresh match.

Shoguns cardio has been terrible in the ufc outside of the two Machida fights.
So Machida gets the winner of Bones/Hendo and Shogun gets the loser?

The thing with Shogun lately... he looks/seems totally gassed, but still manages to perform (the KO here and the last 2 rounds against Hendo) - unless you overwhelm him a la John Jones, he's always going to be in your face. I don't think any of the 4 guys tonight would stand much of a chance against Jones though... he's just on another level - the one guy who could possibly do something is Hendo and we'll be getting that soon. I still strongly favor Jones, but you can never write Henderson off. am I crazy for thinking we should have Shogun vs. Machida before either get a title shot? and the winner of Bones/Hendo vs. Gustafsson? I'd prefer something like that - or maybe Teixeria Vs Gustafsson for the next title shot... at least it would be someone new. I like Machida, but don't really think he deserves a rematch after one fight/a quick win over Bader.

Here we go again. Teixeira is a great fighter, but do you REALLY think fighting on the Facebook prelims, beating someone who's not even in the top 20 (Kyle Kingsbury, who was also coming off a loss before fighting Glover) should really grant someone in the top 5-10? Come on man.
I'm a huge fan of Glover, but that is really nonsense putting him in there with the elite already when he hasn't beaten anyone of name.

...I meant if he beats Rampage impressively, then have Teixeira fight Gustafsson for the next title-shot. It would be a new/fresh challenger... I don't think many people are getting too excited about the thought of Jones Vs Machida 2 or Shogun 2.

I also want to mention how much I love Joe Lauzon, used to be I complained that he seemed to constantly be getting big fights without really being deserving. Now the dude is legit one of my favourite fighters, guy always comes to fight and I can't name a boring Joe Lauzon fight off the top of my head.

What a great night of fights. Joe Lauzon has been one of my favorite fighters since the guy debuted, and god damn did he have a great performance tonight. Varner was game, too. Back and forth all the way. Excellent fight and Joe deserves the $100,000 he earned in bonuses. Much love for Swick and Johnson, they killed it as well. I really felt like it was only a matter of time before DaMarques landed hard and put Swick to sleep. Man, Quick proved me wrong. Bader/Machida was exactly what I expected it to be. A plodding, borderline boring Machida fight. Congrats on the KO and points again for not hitting an opponent once he knows they're asleep. No reason to hurt them. Vera showed a lot of heart, and I think he was worried about his orbital bone that was smashed in the Vera fight. What a good show from the Truth. Shogun fought like Shogun. Comes out swinging, gets tired, swings some more, looks exhausted, usually gets a win.
Awesome night of fights.

Gotta kind of give Shogun credit though. I mean, he did NOT look good when you consider the opponent, but even when Shogun was tired, he was STILL throwing knock-out punches. I have to respect him for that. Still trying to finish when you have nothing left is a big thing with me.
I think Shogun and Nogueira should coach TUF Brazil 2.
