I have to photograph a wedding tomorrow 3 hours from home, & I'll probably miss most of the show. After such a long streak of not missing events, I've had some bad luck recently. It's a 1:30 wedding, so I'm HOPING I'll be back in time for the last 2 fights.

I do believe Weidman is the future, but I just can't picture him being the guy to stop Silva. I'll stand by the same statement I've made for years, "Until someone finally beats Anderson, I can't & won't bet against him. "

Welp, I told you so. Been calling this for a long time. Weidman is a beast and will be on top for a long time, serves Silva right for showboating. Whilst I am disappointed that the superfights have lost luster, I'm happy things have at least been shaken up.

I don't know showboating makes him such a bad person. He's always humble and never insults or disses opponents unless he's provoked.
Obviously, his showboating tonight bit him in the ass but some people have pure hatred for the guy. I have fun watching Silva fight most of the time and I'm kinda glad that he got knocked out tonight to show that even the best in the world can go down when his guards are down.
Anyone ever see Roy Jones? THAT'S a showboater

If Anderson was straight focused and motivated to beat Wiedman without any of his antics, I think it could've been over in the first, probably the second. But like you said, he just didn't give a damn and paid for it. He deserved to be knocked out. But I don't think his showboating are meant to "disrespect" his opponents, I think it's more of a mental thing as many fighters forget what they're doing against Silva when they see that and ultimately lose. Obviously Silva respected Wiedman otherwise he wouldn't have hugged him for that long congratulating him. A lot of people just read into his showboating too much. |
