Yeah, backwards compatibility is at the bottom of my very long list of griped with Xbox One right now.

I am not really worried about BC. I mean there are still some current generation games I want to play later this year and with Dark Souls 2 not being cross-gen, I will be playing something on it next year as well.

Vice President of Microsoft stated in an interview that the Xbox one will have a requirement to be connected to the Internet ONCE PER DAY. What a joke. This console generation belongs to Sony. The wii u has no 3rd par support and the Xbox one has too many strings attached. Sony also patented a way to block used games but so far they are remaining quiet about that. If Sony goes this route with the ps4, dear lord. Once a day? that ****. What if you don't? Not everyone has the time to play video games (can it even do that?) every single day. How does the best console of the last generation turn into what's sounding to be the worst of this one? If I end up getting any of these next consoles, it's looking like it'll be time to take my business back to PlayStation.

This sounds like its turned gaming into work, what happens if I dont connect to the internet on a day? Why do I HAVE to have things like kinnect, I dont have kinnect now and I never planned on getting it so it really is something extra that im paying more for that I wont need. Its like buying a pizza and they put apples on it because maybe some people like apples so every pizza should have them, Im not paying for apples!
Backwards compatibility isnt the end of the world, I will keep my old Xbox to play old games on it. Xbox seems to be loosing many customers, maybe if they targeted their product at the appropriate target audience then they could have a successful system.

Backwards compatibility isn't a deal breaker but it SHOULD be a big deal to developers of new consoles. It allows current consoles to continue to thrive from previous generations of consoles' games.

No BC is a big deal especially since that means all of the XBL titles you purchased will soon become unplayable. That is why I always feared digital only. I see a new system by a new developer coming out in the next few years or video game piracy reaching new heights.

The single worst part is the used games robbery. I refuse to call it a 'fee.'
If I give my buddy BioShock and say "Dude, try this out, it's amazing," he shouldn't have to pay full retail price.

They are trying to damage control by saying you don't have to pay the fee if you log on to your Xbox live account at your friends place but that defeats the purpose especially if your friend is an achievement whore.

It really kills it for a guy like me. I usually wait until games drop in price, go on sale or buy them used. When I'm done with the game I sell it and take that money to buy more games. Nobody is going to want to buy used Xbox One games when it's going to cost them another $60 on top of whatever they would buy it for.

Forgot to post my thoughts about the console on Tuesday so I'm going to do so now.
Thought the reveal was very disappointing. They focused way to much on stuff people will hardly ever use it for like voice commanding (which I'll never do as if I ever upgrade, I would buy one without the Kinect, like I haven't got one for my 360), streaming your television provider through the Xbox, Skype calling and playing with your fantasy sports teams while watching sport games through your Xbox. Also, EA are pretty much up Microsoft's ass now, which is really annoying. That little presentation was bullcrap. Remedy was the only part of the reveal I pretty much enjoyed, their games pretty awesome. A Halo "Television" series doesn't excite me as I have never played a Halo nor am I really a fan of the franchise. Call of Duty, while it looked, from a graphical standpoint, pretty amazing, once again, it was just all of them kissing Microsoft's ass.
From what you have probably read, yeah, they didn't really sell the Xbox One to me, but it all depends how they do at E3.
Also, the stuff about the pre-owned games is stupid. Like, if I bought the game and say my friend wanted to play it and try it out, so I let him borrow it, he will have to pay a fee just to play it? The more I hear about this console the more I am against even upgrading at all, PS4 or Xbox One that is.

Cannot avoid Kinect my friend. Every Xbox One will ship with it, and it has to be connected and activated for the system to function, period.
Oh, and all that xbox TV stuff they were showing off? Not available outside of the United States at launch

Not available outside of the United States at launch Yeah, forgot about the Kinect thing, that is pretty annoying. Why force people to have it and use it? The TV stuff I don't really care about. Sure, I sometimes use my Xbox to stream my Sky app, but that's because I have my Xbox in my bedroom were I don't have a Sky box, if I had it set up in my living room, I wouldn't use that app at all.

New report is saying NO FEES to play used games Citing "sources familiar with the system," Polygon reports that the Xbox One will not require a fee to play used games. Instead, the console will perform regular online checks to verify disc authenticity and ownership. Polygon's sources note that used game sales will continue, as Xbox One game ownership is determined by an on-disc encryption code. Once a game has been sold, traded, or otherwise activated by another console, access to the previous owner's installed content is revoked and transferred to its new owner. Microsoft's Major Nelson addressed recent speculation regarding the upcoming console's ability to play used games in a statement released earlier today. "Xbox One is designed to support the trade in and resale of games," Major Nelson said. "Reports about our policies for trade in and resale are inaccurate and incomplete. We will disclose more information in the near future." Polygon additionally reports that Xbox One voice chat and party chat will be powered by Skype, according to an unnamed Microsoft representative. Recent rumors suggest that Skype will also enable remote play sessions. "Skype technologies are used in Xbox One which improves voice quality during multiplayer game sessions," Microsoft's representative wrote in a statement to Polygon. "Skype can also be used to call any of your Skype contacts for voice or video chat exclusively or while playing a game. Additionally, we have improved the Kinect hardware, from microphone configuration to dedicated audio processing, which contributes to providing a high-quality voice experience whether you are chatting in a game or through Skype." source: www.joystiq.com/2013/05/24/report-no-fee-to-play-used-xbox-one-games-skype-powers-voice-c/

this is why the internet is awful. everyone is soooooooooo quick to "report" everything, that more than half the time its false info...then people react on that false info (selling Gamestop stock) and all kinds of craphappens now it comes out the reports are wrong. why do we all have to do everything in 2 seconds? why can't people just have some ing PATIENCE and no be so reactive?
