I cant find a thread for this years champions league so ill get this one up and running.
Good result for United last night, should have won about 6-2 with the sitters Rooney and Van Persie missed. Pleased for Valencia, hes a quality player that just needs some confidence at the moment and some games to get him going. Kagawa got a run out last night but to be honest he didnt do much.
Did anyone see Ronaldos hat trick last night? I think hes ahead of Messy at the moment, hes amazing.

Watched the Manchester City game last night. They were good in the second half, but that was there second easiest game in the group (Plzen at home being the first). Tougher tests lie ahead for them.
Fairly routine victory for Manchester United. Missed a few sitters and had a few lapses at the back. Shakhtar away could be a banana skin for them.
As expected, Celtic lost. From the highlights it looked like they played quite well, though, so I'll give them credit for that. Milan will have their big players (El Shaarawy and Montolivo) back for the return leg, so should win that one as well.
Decent win for Arsenal. If they can beat Napoli at home in the next round they've got a great chance of going through, which I think they will.
I watched the Chelsea - Basel game this evening. Whilst I have been an admirer of Basel for a few seasons now (ever since they got that stunning 3-3 draw at Old Trafford), I really didn't see them winning tonight. I knew they would give it a right go and definatly score, but Chelsea were so poor in the second half. Mourinho's tactics are so negative and boring that maybe this will give him a kick up the ass to change that. Not pleased we've got them on Saturday, though. Can see them running riot on us.
Result of matchday one has to be Real Madrid at Galatasaray. Absolutely sensational, to score six up there. Ronaldo's form is absolutely ridiculous.

I thought we deserved a draw last night but around 65 minutes in I just knew the goal was coming.wasnt expecting two goals though.
we were wide open on the left hand side and Mexes was putting ball over there the entire time because he had figured out Samaras(the lazy bastard)wasnt gonna be tracking back.
some great saves from Forster but ah well.....I wasnt expecting a win.also Barca demolishing Ajax like that is slightly discouraging......LOL.

I know this is off topic but is anyone watching Swansea against Valencia at the moment in the Europe League? They are ripping Valencia to shreds, 3-0 up and de guzman just scored an absolute blinder of a free kick. I didnt think they could get any better under Rodgers but Laudrup is doing one better, hes put together a great team.

We were the best I've seen us this season on Tuesday. Delighted Chelsea lost twice in a week. Napoli-Dortmund was cool; I must admit I found it a bit funny to see Dortmund falling apart at the seams after a couple of their fans I know have been smug as over the past year (despite not actually winning anything). If everyone beat Marseilles whilst Arsenal win at home to Napoli and then get something in Germany then Dortmund are seriously in it.

I'd be a bit more encouraged with the Ajax score tbh. Shows have far they've fallen. Viktor Fischer is about the only top drawer player they have.

I'm assuming he meant for Celtic's next game, against Barcelona. But lets face it, they are not going to get anything from that. I think Celtic will beat Ajax at home, and should get something in Amsterdam. Agree about Fischer; so much potential.

It's nice to get a point, but it means nothing if you go and lose 3 to Ajax for example.

Not taking away anything from Swansea here but this is the worst Valencia team that I can remember, apart from maybe Canales and Banega there's no one that really stands out plus they were down to 10 men too.

Banega's attitude is rotten and suffers from "already made it" syndrome. Canales is very much hit or miss annd prone to injuries.
Not great for their 2 best players.
Amazing how far they're falling.

Valencia aren't great but even with 10 men, losing at home 3-0 to Swansea is pathetic.
Swansea were awesome.

tough one last night.I firmly believe we would've scored a draw if Brown(the muppet)hadn't been sent off.
ah well, that's that I reckon bar some serious shocks.

About time Brown got sent off for that, he does it all the ing time. Beat for pace and loses the head. Pathetic behaviour from a joke of a captain. Neymar on the other hand, is an overrated diving **** with a crape haircut.

How many more mistakes before people admit Hart isn't actually that great anymore? City would've been better off with Mancini's plan of buying Begovic.

Yeah, if he wasn't English he'd have been vilified like Gomes.

You can't deny Joe Hart wasn't a good goalkeeper. He wasn't world class like everyone was making him out to be, but he was clearly the England No.1 and in the top 3 in the Prem imo.
He has to be dropped though. Forster is in great form and Hart can't seem to go a game without making a poor mistake. C'mon G-Nev, you can blatantly see Hart's been piss AND you're an England coach! Surely you must have a say?!

Surely you must have a say?! While I agree, will him (doubt it because of Sky commitments) or Woy go and watch Forster on a regular basis? No they won't, they struggle to go further north than Manchester as it is. So until Forster can push a move away from Celtic I don't see him battling Hart for the #1 jersey for England.

I was a big fan of his well before he started gaining his current cult status, but he never was THAT good. He was good the year City won the title (but not BITW like a lot of people said). Last year and this he's been shocking. I expect an endemic lack of competition at both club and national level has caused it. I'll be shocked if he's still in between the City sticks this time next year.
