Speaking of Kerry Von Erich....who thought it was a good idea to put a Kerry Von Erich, Kevin Von Erich, & Texas Tornado in a legends set together...just asking for a set to tank.

You can understand Mattel's reticence to try again with a Legends-type line... it just seems, with the success of the Flashbacks at retail - and the influx of big names like Hogan, Flair, and Sting - that they'd be more of a demand/market for them this time.

Well, I haven't seen any basic flashbacks that are impossible to transfer to elite yet... Well I could understand gold dust, or say doink the clown, Gonzalez jyd...
I understand, I'd be pissed if they released red lod as basic s because then mdt would always reply, we already made a red lod lol... Or anvil, earthquake etc
But guys like Sid, warlord, Hercules , Paul Roma, etc ... I'd rather get them as basics then not at all. And really only if possible to turn into an elite with Mattel parts only, as little paint as possible
But understand I'm not supporting basics, just stating that's the only way I would ever accept them... Especially with new heads of figures already made as elites.... Like piper and Dugan

If not it's own line, they should expand flashbacks to basic 2 packs and a set of six every couple basic waves. Some flashback wrestlers have simple attires that wouldn't sell for $18 but would sell for $10(Mr. Perfect, Jake Roberts, Vader, early Shawn Michaels, Rick Martel, hopefully Flair and Hogan someday...). As long as business is good, I guess I can't complain too much about the great stuff we get. Basics and basic 2 packs is a terrible idea. What about us elite only collectors? So we miss out on legends because they get the basic treatment. No thanks stick to elites only please. That arguement goes both ways though. I am a basic collector only. There are about 60 characters that have been made in Elite style only that I don't have in my collection because they didn't get the basic treatment. Some big names in there as well like Andre the Giant, Dusty Rhodes, the Road Warriors, etc....

Bill is not the only one in charge at Mattel. Everything is on WWE to give Mattel the go ahead to produce various figures. Bill also has to get the OK from Mattel to get various legends contracts, ETC. I'm sure if Bill had the authority to release Scott Hall/Razor Ramon he would, it's good for business and it would sell really well. Just give it time. Mattel back then also said no to DX but obviously WWE changed it's tune and we got the NAO after a couple of years.
Bill is probably irritated because this always gets asked 24/7. Scott is looking great these days and DDP has helped him get back into shape. Hopefully Scott one day can get in the good graces of WWE and show up on Old School Raw and that will be a good sign for a figure.

It comes down to a sales thing. I don't know if a whole line of Flashbacks does well. Throwing one in here and there in another series is probably the sweet spot where it does the best.

Oh ok...it just was a weird visual at retail and when they went clearance at Target there was a ton of the marked down.

I had to remind myself that I'm here to have fun and talk about figures with like-minded people of the same interest. Not start a manhunt of an innocent bystander because I want a Scott Hall figure.

I posted this in the thread about belt packs, but here it is again: You are right, it would appear to me though that if the legends line or legends type line would ever work again (like classics did) it would be with the addition of mega stars like hogan, flair and sting. Coupled with already stars that have in savage, warrior, hitman, Austin, rock, cena, hbk and Andre. IMO, Mattel could run a 10 set series and have no less then 4x A+ level stars in each set. Thrown 2x crush's, road doggs and xpac's level stars per set and wow, u could make one hell of a 60 flashback superstars set.

Another reason a new Flashback-type line might work now is that it would have a LOT more star-power than the Legends line ever did, which I think would help boost sales. The Legends line didn't have guys like Diesel, Bret Hart, Mankind, Edge etc. - and they weren't allowed to make older versions of (then) current guys like HBK, Undertaker, Triple H, Kane. In a new line we'd have all these guys AND hopefully Hogan, Flair and Sting (along with big-hitters like Warrior, Macho, Stone Cold, Rock). How could it fail...?

i wish the Matty Collector thing worked.
the DC collectors got alot of the figures they wanted that way. The He-Man collectors get all the ppl they want.
but they do WWE...........and nobody bought them

Scott Hall doesn't have a legends contract........and Mattel won't pay out of their own pocket to sign him.
Thats the only reason i can see, why they haven't made him.
It has nothing to do w/ "good graces". There are 3 different versions of him in the WWE videogame. WWE had no problem w/ 2K signing him.

I realize that Legends as we knew it will probably not come back. However with the WWE Network, there will be an emphasis put on legends by the company itself. My suggestion would be expansion of Flashbacks into battle packs and maybe a heavier presence in the basic line. Flashback 2 packs in elite form will probably fail with retailers due to the price point. So elite legends are probably gonna be relegated to the status quo.

Here are some flashbacks I'd love to see. The first list includes people currently employed or previously made by Mattel, and the second list is future possibilities and guys Mattel should be looking at signing.
Wrestlemania 23 Batista with World Title Summerslam 2004 Randy Orton with World Title Evolution HHH with Purple tights and clean shaven headscan. Hunter Hearst Helmsley Halloween Havoc 1997 Eddie Guerrero Halloween Havoc 1997 Rey Mysterio 2005 Eddie Guerrero with smiling headscan, blonde highlights, green tights and "I'm Your Papi" t-shirt. See Jakks CS17. Exactly like that but better! Roddy Piper with removable jacket, t-shirt and kilt. We need a good ELITE Piper. Red LOD Animal Red LOD Hawk
Ric Flair - Any version. Maybe start with an NWA era flashback with blue robe. And then in a later series, give us a Royal Rumble 92 Flair. Hulk Hogan - Wrestlemania 3 era, nWo era with removable headband and shirt, and current era with real boas are all must haves. Hell, I'd even buy a Mr. America Exclusive. Ken Shamrock - One of my favourites. Give me a Shamrock in green attire with a grunting headscan. Adam Bomb - Yeah it might not sell much but it would be an awesome figure, you have to admit. Goldberg - A WCW version AND a WWE variant. This would sell huge. I'd buy both! Raven - This could be such a good figure. Ideally, an ECW version with leather jacket and ripped jean shorts. Shane McMahon - I can't stress how awesome this figure would be. A Shane McMahon with a cloth red Shane-O shirt. Yes! If Mattel wanted, they could do a variant where he has a blue shirt. Umaga - WWE won't allow it which is sad but this figure would be beastly in Mattel form. Just imagine it. I'd buy one. Ultimo Dragon - Wrestling Legend! Mattel needs to get the rights to him. This would be such a badass figure. X-Pac - To complete the DX collection... well kinda. We still need Chyna. Sting - Surfer Sting, Crow Sting, Wolfpack Sting, there's so many possibilities. Jeff Hardy - If he's really gone from TNA then Mattel need to strike a deal with him. We need him in our collection. Matt Hardy - See Jeff. A classic Hardy Boys set would be amazing. Lita - To complete the trio. Bob Backlund - Not many people would buy it but I would be all over it! We could get a 70's Backlund or a 1994 crazy Backlund. Steve Blackman - Black attire, red shoes, kendo stick and removable white gear. Rick Steiner - 1992 era with removable lettermans jacket and head gear. Scott Steiner - 1992 era with removable lettermans jacket. Scott Steiner - WCW era with blonde hair, goatee and chained headgear. They can put him in black shorts or the white singlet. Razor Ramon - We desperately need him. A Razor in purple or green attire with removable vest and chain would be awesome. Scott Hall - Preferably a Wolfpack version to match Nash. And they could do a variant with the black nWo attire.
I'd buy all of these.
