I don't think it was one figure. The kids just don't want legends. Jakks had their classic line......and it worked. But there didn't seem to be a large carry-over of collectors. They were either satisfied w/ all the Jakks they had. Or stopped collecting when Mattel got the license. Kevin Von Erich Volkoff/Sheik Brian Pillman Terry Funk Sgt. Slaughter Hall of Fame line Steamboat Geez... these sat at Kmarts forever! weren't early Slaughter, Hart Foundation Pillman, Classic Funk, Von Erichs and Steamboat the kinda things Jakks collectors were asking for?

Terry Funk by far, biggest shelf warmer and you can still get him for $10 anywhere online. I think the packaging overall was butt ugly as well and didn't help matters. Not sure why the hate on Kamala, I think the figure is awesome and would look amazing in a normal elite packaging, as would a lot of the legends.

Its funny how Texas Tornado wasn't a want, but has become the base to thousands of custom Hogans. He probably has sold the best!

Lol
All I'm gonna say is that if they had better talent and better timing then it might have done better. wwe and Mattel decided against hbk, taker, HHh , mysteriouo and Kane being in the legends line just because they were also current, was a bad move. They could have helped the legends line connect to a younger generation.

They wanted to cater to fringe-internet-message-board Jakks collectors and not to new collectors who had just heard Mattel--the same company that made your sister's Barbie--was now making wrestling figures. They completely alienated themselves from almost any new collector to the hobby. Seriously, I started about 4 months after legends series 1 hit retail (it was still warming), and I was majorly turned off by the attire choices and the star power. But I just thought, "it's early and they'll do these differently someday." Boy was I wrong on most all of these! We're still waiting on essential repaints. But I'm in it now and glad I am. But imagine how many potentially new collectors saw a white-top Sarge and said, "Um, no thanks" because Jakks collectors demanded obscure attires.

I'd have to say off the top of the head the fat black guy from the gimmick battle royal at wm17 what a waste who else is responsible? I think Pullman maybe too I hope to God that you're just trolling, and aren't actually that ignorant...

But imagine how many potentially new collectors saw a white-top Sarge and said, "Um, no thanks" because Jakks collectors demanded obscure attires. from what i can tell....MDT Bill was a jakks collector. U can't blame him for wanting to appeal to all those collectors that kept the Jakks Classics line popular. They poured alot of $$$ into their collections....and starting over w/ a new company is probably a hard pill to swallow. I personally didn't collect the Jakks line (post BCA). So did I want Road Warriors, Terry Funk in trunks, non-Camo Sarge, Snuka in tights??? Honestly no. But u gotta respect that they tried to entice Jakks collectors by giving them figures they didn't have yet. U can't blame them for not getting to repaints. Its only been 3 years since those figures came out. If they re-did Slaughter, Snuka, Animal, Hawk & Funk.......thats 5 less flashbacks that u would've gotten the last couple years. Maybe we don't get that Bruno......or Purple Undertaker. There would've been sacrifices. I would rather get new ppl like Lex Luger and X-Pac right now. They can get to re-doing some Legends guys later.

Having the most obscure legends in their most obscure attires is what killed the line.........3 Von Erichs in one line? ? If they had stuck to making Warriors, Nashs, Takers, Michaels, Machos, Flairs, Hogans........basically real legends this line would still be going.....

Its only been 3 years since those figures came out. If they re-did Slaughter, Snuka, Animal, Hawk & Funk.......thats 5 less flashbacks that u would've gotten the last couple years. First, no we do NOT have to respect one of the major reasons the line failed especially when we complained about it WHILE it was going on and they simply brushed us off. Second, "that's 5 less flashbacks that u would've gotten . . . " You say that as if most of us count those figures as done. I still do not have a proper Sgt Slaughter, we have the Road Warriors but NOT Legion of Doom, we don't have a very memorable Funk nor Snuka. So to me, those are still missing just as much as Hogan, Hall, Goldberg. If they gave us a Goldberg wearing jeans and polo with a mic, do you think very many would say, "Well, they gave us Goldberg, check him off the list and move on to someone else." Heck no. I'm still waiting on those guys. I'm hopeful we'll get them. At least Dusty Rhodes actually wrestled at WM6 in that polka dot outfit.
