I think each conference should only get one team. Say if Miss St wins the SEC, then we just have to assume that they are the best team in the conference and would beat Alabama/Auburn/etc again. Let these teams play each other and work it out. Give other teams a shot.
I'd say it will be:
SEC champ Florida St (assuming they win ACC undefeated) Big 12 champ (TCU) Either Oregon, Notre Dame, or possibly Big 10 champ

However now everyone is saying we need a playoff so the 4 best teams in the country are playing for the title. If Miss St and Auburn both win out the rest of the season, they both deserve to be in the playoffs. Auburn's only defeat would be at the hands of Miss St and you're basically punishing Auburn for playing (and winning) against 5 Top 20 teams while someone like say Notre Dame would only play 1-2 ranked teams.

I'd love for Notre Dame to make the playoffs, but all bias aside I don't see it happening.
Miss State, Alabama, Florida State, TCU.

I think this is why it should at least be 8 teams. This way the power 5 champs are all there, plus room for 2nd teams from a conference/impressive lower conference teams (hey, give Marshall a shot)/Notre Dame.

The first thing they need to do is realign conferences. There is no reason Florida State should be playing in a Basketball conference beating down 9-10 schmuck schools and then get a shot at the title. Stick teams like FSU in the SEC, ND in the Big10...take teams like Vandy & Kentucky out of the SEC, drop Northwestern from Big10, When was the last time Iowa St won the Big12? Drop those teams and put them in "wild card" conferences.
Put the "Big Boys" of college football in 6 different conferences and then all the other teams can compete for 2 wild card spots. Then give me a college playoff.

MAC football on ESPN2 tomorrow night (or tonight, whatever.) Ball State against NIU for the Bronze Stalk. This game is by far the most important thing happening this week in college football. #MACtion

Hey, having an uncle that went to Kent and being an Ohio boy (where most of the schools are) I always have a special connection to the MAC. That being said, I was pretty excited to see my EKU Colonels beat Miami. They're looking really good in the OVC and have a big game against Jacksonville St this weekend. Wish I was going to be in town to go to it. I keep joking that I can't wait for Missouri and Duke to just everything up and win their conference championships.

I lost my voice last night. Bucks showed up and proved everyone wrong. Sooo much talent on this team and they'll only get better with experience. It'll take a lot for them to get into playoff contention, but I'm ok with that.
If they can at least win their next three games and then presumably beat Nebraska in the title game in very convincing fashion, they'd have a better case to get in the playoff. Style points count.

Ok, so the College football play-off is officially out!
1. Alabama 2. Oregon 3. Florida State 4. Ohio State
I am hoping that Ohio State wins the whole thing, even if I am not a fan of their program. My decision is purely based on my own midwest and BIG-10 bias. People continue to complain about this system and committee, and while I will admit it is entirely imperfect, it blows the old BCS rankings out of the water.

I think they chose the right 4 teams but I really think they screwed the pooch by putting TCU @ #3 last week and then TCU winning 55-3 and being dropped to #6....That is a HUGE flaw right there. They need to extend the Big12 to 12 teams and give them a Conf championship and then let the 5 Conf champions and 3 at large bids play in an 8 team playoff.

I agree that TCU did get the short end of the stick but the game yesterday was against an unranked and somewhat unknown team. An eight team playoff will be more decisive but in the first year it makes sense to stay small. Ohio State did win decisively against a strong Wisconsin team too, and using a third string quarterback.
Bummer that the College football threads have fallen off so much as compared to a couple years ago. I would love discussion about this similar to the NFL thread, especially in such a landmark and crazy season.

OSU making it over TCU is a ing joke. I'm sorry. I've got no beef with OSU and I'm not a TCU fan but sh*t they got the shaft.

It was already a toss up before this weekend, Ohio States complete annihilation of a very good Wisconsin team clinched it.
Ironic that Urban Meyer is in charge of getting the monkey off Ohio States back that he put there in the first place.
We'll see how it goes. Cardale looked solid, he's still a wildcard about how he'll perform. OSU and Alabama have both had close games against inferior teams, Oklahoma proved last year that no one is bullet proof.

I think OSU is personally probably the better team but the formula is just so badly flawed that its truly worse then the BCS in reality. I mean, you move TCU up to #3 last week because FSU played a nobody but then TCU goes out and demolishes the team they played and drop 3 spots? I understand dropping behind FSU and going to #4 but what has OSU really done? Wisconsin is a decent team but they havent played anyone but LSU & OSU....and they lost both of those games, plus a game to Northwestern. OSU has a close quality win against Michigan St...but its the same Michigan state team that was routed by Oregon. TCU is a 1 loss team, which is the #5 team in the nation.
I put FSU in because even though they played mostly basketball schools, they did win out. Then when you go to one loss teams, Alabama has the most quality wins & quality loss so they're in. Oregon would be next as they lost to a team they later demolished which is a top 15 team. Once you look at quality wins and losses between TCU, Baylor & OSU...TCU has more quality on their schedule then the other two.

Really wish FSU would have just lost at some point to get the out of the way. That way OSU gets in and we only gave to hear arguments about TCU against Baylor. (I think TCU is the better team, but obviously that loss means something)

Being a tide fan, its got me wondering what Sabin is gonna pull out of his hat against Meyer for their fourth meeting as head coaches.
