I can see as to why the UFC would bypass Punk being on TUF from a financial standpoint. If Punk does indeed get the beating most people think he will, they'd rather it be on a PPV where they can rake in the PPV buys rather than on national TV.
From a fan of the sport standpoint: I can understand how some fans could feel that giving a guy with no MMA background (other than a couple years of Jiu Jitsu) a walk on spot onto the UFC roster could delegitimize the sport.
The adventurous side of me however says bring on the blood bath.
