Hey guys, I've gotta get this off my chest because if I don't, it's gonna drive me nuts. I just do NOT understand the hype for "The Notorious" Conor McGregor. I really don't and I'm literally shaking my head. The guy is a decent fighter from what I've seen, but he has NOT faced or defeated a top 5 guy in the UFC. He is ranked at #5 and his upcoming fight with Dennis Siver (ranked #10) WILL be a lot tougher than he anticipates. He talks WAY too much sh*t and I just don't understand it. Had he defeated Chad Mendes or Ricardo Lamas or Frankie Edgar or Cub Swanson, then I wouldn't be saying a ing thing, but fact is, he HASN'T!! He hasn't beat any top fighter for him to be doing THIS much sh*t-talking. My buddies have been sh*t-talking me about "McGoat" (McGreatest Of All-Time) as they call him, for what's been like months now and I've been laughing it off. I can not wait until next week for the Dennis Siver fight. Check out this clip I just found on YouTube: Conor promises to finish Dennis Siver within 2 minutes. Oh come the f*ck on now. That ain't gonna happen. And if that's not bad enough, he's actually promising to do the same to Jose Aldo, finish him within 2 minutes. LOL. What a ing clown Conor McGregor is. He's living in dreamland if he honestly thinks he can beat Jose Aldo within 2 minutes. He won't beat either guy in 2 minutes. I don't even think he can or will beat Dennis Siver. As I said before, I think this Dennis Siver fight will be way tougher than he's hoping it will be. I don't think Conor will win and I think Siver will pull the shocker. Here's the stare-down between McGregor and Siver: I love how calm and cool Siver is during that. Conor is WAY too cocky and trust me, it's gonna backfire. Only a matter of time. If Conor beats Siver, then he gets Aldo next and I will just laugh at how easy of a fight that will be for Aldo. Conor gets to leapfrog ahead of Lamas, Mendes, Edgar and Swanson and go straight for Aldo. Go ahead UFC, put him in there with Jose Aldo and see what happens. It will be lambs to the slaughter because Conor hasn't fought someone with the calibre of Jose Aldo. He hasn't even fought someone as tough as Chad Mendes or Frankie Edgar. They don't want to put Conor with either Mendes or Edgar because they know for a in' fact he would get demolished and all the hype and money would be out the freakin' window. UFC is going about it all wrong with Conor because he will be embarrassed in the end. Aldo will crush that kid in near record time I'm willing to bet. If Conor gets by Siver, it will be a MUCH tougher fight and certainly will not be over in 2 minutes as he hopes it will and if he fights Aldo after that, God help him because he'll be in a world of hurt. A world of hurt which he's never experienced before in his life. Conor isn't worth the hype and money they are putting into him and I think it's a very safe bet to pick Dennis Siver to pull out the shocker and derail the Conor McGregor hype-train.

Well, he certainly divides the fans - that's for sure, lol. I kind of like his smack-talking to be honest... we don't really know whether he's the real-deal as a top fighter yet though, as he's still pretty much untested.
I think he'll beat Siver, but would definitely favour the likes of Edgar and Mendes to beat him... and of course Aldo. I'd love him to fight Edgar in an official no.1 contenders match and prove he deserves the title shot first - but then you can't really blame the UFC for wanting to put him straight in there with Aldo while he's hot.... the money/attendance/excitement level will be HUGE.

I'm not denying that the money/attendance/excitement won't be huge. I'm sure it most certainly will be. My major gripe is that he gets to leapfrog ahead of the other top 4 fighters in line, Mendes, Lamas, Edgar and Swanson. In my opinion, he NEEDS to defeat one of those top guys in line to be deserving of a title shot at Jose Aldo. I would absolutely LOVE to see him fight either Frankie Edgar or Chad Mendes. I don't think he'd come close to beating either one of them. And I completely understand UFC's standpoint here and why they aren't doing either match-up and risking Conor losing. Jose Aldo has already defeated the other top 4 contenders in the top 5. He's beat Mendes twice now, beat Edgar, beat Swanson and Lamas. Conor is ranked #5 as I said. So, as much as I don't like it, it kind of makes sense having Conor being the next shot for Aldo, provided he gets by Dennis Siver next weekend. I think by having him go straight to Jose Aldo will be a disastrous decision because Aldo will embarrass him and then what?? All that hype and money will be wasted. If he beat Edgar or Mendes and proved he's deserving of a shot, then I wouldn't be saying anything, but he hasn't. You put him in there with Aldo before him being tested against Edgar or Mendes and it will be a one-sided whooping and you know it. They are pushing Conor too hard, too fast and it will prove to be the wrong decision.

I like him. He's a solid fighter, but I'm not convinced he's gonna take the title. He needs a high profile win.

he is a good fighter who has a fountain of charisma which is very rare to find in the UFC today i don't think he can beat Aldo right now but i think he could give Cub Swanson and Frankie Edgar a run for their money

He's like Chael, it is irrelevant whether he can fight, his mouth draws people.

I love Conor. He's a character, and makes things interesting. Loved how he went into the crowd to face off with Aldo. Very interested in that fight.

Yeah... it wasn't even close - Conor totally dominated. I loved when he got in Aldo's face afterwards too, lol - love him or hate him, McGregor Vs Aldo is one the biggest (if not the biggest) fight out there... if they have it in Ireland, the place will go nuts(!). Should be fun.

Dennis Siver didn't have a chance since Conor just dominated him and the fight could have ended in the 1st if he didn't showboat. It was hilarious to see him run out of the cage and scream at a laughing Aldo. The fight is going to be in may on momorial day weekend in Vegas

After watching the fight last night, I am now pretty sure that Conor is actually the long lost third Diaz brother.
He flipped off Siver instead of touching gloves He talks trash before, during, and after the fight He taunted Siver by waving him in and acting like Siver needed to bring the fight to him
These are all things Nick and Nate have done in the past.

I usually don't root for Aldo in his fights, but will definitely root for him against Conor. I agree with Mr Old School that he is overrated.

He flipped off Siver instead of touching gloves ...to be fair, Conor went to touch gloves first - but Siver shook his head and wouldn't. But yeah, there is a touch of the Diaz brothers about him... the main difference being that (so far) he actually backs up what he's says.

Yep, me and my brother lost the bet. Oh well, it's all good. I don't regret taking the chance for a bit, as the payout would've been HUGE. I cannot and won't deny Conor looked sharp last night. He schooled Siver from the get-go. He is dominant against lesser competition, that much is obvious. I GUARANTEE you ALL that if you were to put him in there with Frankie Edgar or Chad Mendes, it would be a completely different story. I don't even have to worry about that because they are feeding him to the shark himself, Jose Aldo. Good ing luck McGregor. After Aldo embarrasses you, I will be here to tell you all "I told ya so". Until then, enjoy your win for now. You earned it. But rest assured, you will NOT win the next one. I feel sorry for you because you are in for a world of hurt now.

Aldo in all likelihood beats Conor but don't feel sorry for him, he has talked his way into a massive payday vs Aldo, he has created a buzz and a name even though he has only beat fringe contenders. Both Aldo and conor are laughing as they both will get career high paydays and massive publicity and all because Conor talks a lot of smack and is Irish. Aldo got hit a lot vs Mendes, who he had to worry about being taken down by, but its not like Aldo has proven to be unhittable so can't 100% rule out Conor. What Aldo has proven though is that he can fight in hard 5 round fights, fight back from adversity, Conor hasn't proven that yet and that is why you have to make Aldo favorite. Surprised you picked Siver though, small 36 year old fighter who had seen better days and wasn't even that good then as he lost most of his hard fights. Siver was hand picked by Dana and even given a higher rank to make Conor look good, excellent matchmaking as it was all about setting up Aldo vs Conor next.

^ We HAD to pick Siver. The odds were just TOO good to pass up. The payout would've been tremendous. I know it was a bad bet, but we were just hoping for the upset. We knew it was a forgone conclusion that McGregor/Aldo would happen, but we were hoping Siver would be the spoiler, but alas, not to be.
My birthday just so happens to be on the Memorial Day weekend, May 22nd to be exact and Jose Aldo can give me the greatest birthday present of all. A one-sided ass-whoopin' of "The Notorious" Conor McGregor. I can NOT wait for that one to go down.

Man Aldo should have smacked him in the face when Conor got in his face like that. If he wants to act like that he should become a pro wrestler!
I hope Aldo gives him a bigger softball on the head than he did to poor Mark Hominick. That was in Toronto, did you attend that fight Old School?
