Yes, I know there are a hundred Roman Reigns threads and there will probably be a hundred more before Wrestlemania is over but this can't be ignored and needs to be addressed immediately...
What is WWE thinking? I just got done watching Raw last night and need to bring up the Roman Reigns/Daniel Bryan/Paul Heyman segment. First off, I don't hate Roman Reigns. At all. I was actually looking forward to WWE proving to everyone that Reigns can be the "next guy" through smart storytelling and booking. Until last night...
So, Daniel Bryan comes out and says Reigns seemed like just another guy with the look and no heart until their match last night where Reigns showed heart and earned Bryan's respect. This was fine. Reigns earned Bryan's endorsement. I have no issue with this as it makes sense because Reigns defeated Bryan fair and square.
Then, typical WWE, they overdo it and manage to destroy the whole thing.
Paul Heyman comes out and talks about putting money on Reigns in any match even against the likes of Bruno Sammartino, Hulk Hogan AND Andre the Giant, Stone Cold and The Rock?!?! WHAT?!?! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? It would've been better if they just had Bryan and Heyman come to the ring, bend over and let Reigns "give it to them" on live TV. The crowd took a huge dump all over this and rightfully so. It was unacceptable.
If the fans have to be told these "facts" to believe in someone...then they're not ready. Period. I don't remember anybody saying how Daniel Bryan (for example) would've defeated Bret Hart, Mr. Perfect or Shawn Michaels on any given day because it never needed to be said. You believed in him based on his own merits and not because the company was saying "this is our guy so you need to believe in him and here's why".
I know it's wrestling but don't insult your loyal longtime fans with this garbage. If Reigns is going to be the guy then let him be the guy by EARNING IT.
I'm sure this post will upset some people and I'm not intending for this to be an argument thread. For the Reigns supporters, I want you to realize this crap is hurting him MUCH more than it's helping and you guys should realize this is not good for him at all.
