These two things have been exploited for longer than they existed in the first place! Attitude was what, '96-'01? So it was around for 5 years, and people have been nostalgic for it for 14? Same for the Monday Night Wars as a whole. ECW is just about the same, it lasted for 8 and people have obsessed over it for 14. I say this as someone who grew up with that stuff. We need something new! You can't live in the past - you can only go to the museum so many times.
Even if the product now isn't perfect, ugh...

I kind of get what you're saying. I think I might agree. I mean, I still like those eras, but I've moved on.
I haven't moved on from the 80's though.

It's because wrestling was on fire at those times. People are bound to mention it.
I really wish people would talk about the Ruthless Aggression Era more though. It's on par with the AE to me.

I guess my views on the '80s are the same as the other eras, but I do love really early wrestling, like turn of the century, all the way to probably the '30s/'40s, mainly because of the historical value. I could read about that time all day, and I love the A&E documentary with Steve Allen as the narrator. Obviously, those times are long over. But, that's different from the Attitude/ECW people because they want to re-create those times or pretend they're still living in them.

I do agree with this. If people are going to be nostalgic, at least mention RA. I like that era a lot, mainly because it hasn't been run into the ground.

When the product becomes as popular as it was during that time period then people will stop talking about it.
You had millions of viewers every week. Millions. Everybody was watching wrestling. It was everywhere.
Until it explodes like that again, people will always look back at the Attitude Era and remember it fondly.

I've unfortunately seen a good chunk of ECW and about 80% of it is garbage, hasn't held up well, or really was never good in the first place. However, thanks to Rise And Fall of ECW, it's a revolution in the eyes of ignorant marks, and some of the wrestlers who took part in it as well.
The Attitude Era pretty much copied ECW's storytelling (who in turn copied Memphis) without learning from any of their mistakes. As such, the AE until 2000 was a lot of crap and some good stuff in between. I honestly believe ECW is better then a lot of the Attitude Era even if the wrestling was only actually good sometimes.

A lot of us were kids during that time so nothing will ever match that magic for us. The same thing will happen when the Cena era kids grow up and look back on it just as fondly. I'll never get sick of it because it made me love wrestling.

If you look at 3 of the biggest stars of the Attitude Era, one is one of the biggest box office draws in the world and in every movie, one runs the company, and the other is the biggest superstar of all time. Still hard to avoid it.

I get why it's looked at a good amount, but it does get annoying. Like, there was just a Monday Night Wars series, why is there need for a new DVD on it? Where is the RA era stuff?

basically anything before 2000 in the world of wrestling interests me far greater than after. as the years go by, i find my interests going further and further back. i'm a chronic original ecw fan at this point though. it's just such a raw product, ing amazing. could NEVER exist in today's times and makes you realize just how long ago the 90s were now in terms of change...both good and bad.

The Attitude Era ended 14 years ago. Time to move along.

Yup.
I'll take match quality over anything else....always.
The Attitude Era has some gems but it is not that good from an in ring standpoint.

For the most part the only people I hear talking about the Attitude Era and original ECW are the people saying that everyone talks about them too much and needs to move on. Can anyone post a link to one thread where someone says that they want WWE to go back to the AE? TBH I think you people are making up a problem that doesn't exist in your heads and then getting angry at your own fabrications.

Ive said it before....I refer to that era as the "Bandwagon Era" It was a time where people who werent real wrestling fans were watching wrestling because "it was cool" when wrestling went back to being "not cool" they all left and went to the UFC. Yes I realize some stayed over and there are many such as my self that are fans of both but if you notice when wrestling was "cool", UFC was an unknown. Once UFC got big the wrestling bandwagon shrunk and UFC became a huge thing.

I personally grew up in the Attitude and Ruthless Aggression eras so those were the high points for me.
If we're talking current product, then no I would not want to see either return to now. At the same time something needs to happen to shake up the current product. I feel like it hasn't been this stale in a long time.

It's a little romancisised but compared to the product today The Attitude Era was better storyline wise.
