Just watching the Bret Hart wrestling with shadows documentary.
Forgot how good this was...
Over the years there has probably been a ton of threads dedicated to this documentary and here's another.
For those who don't know this was just supposed to be a documentary documenting Bret Hart but it caught the last year of Brets career in the WWE including the Montreal screw job. I don't really want to mention that but just a few notes from the documentary.
1. Bret Hart was one good looking dude 2. Bret took himself too seriously neither a knock or a compliment 3. Vince Russo looked like an overweight lesbian with a goatee 4. Pat Patterson is/was a genius
"Go play with the Headbangers" - Great quote, Bret to his kid.
A fan of Bret or not and Bret was my idol as a kid this documentary is a must for all wrestling fans.

Weird observation I'll always remember about Survivor Series 97 is that in the opening video package it showed Shawn Michaels making his ring entrance for that's Main Event.
I watched the PPV on replay but also stuck with me HBK walked out with the Euro title folded up in his arms. Odd

One of the best wrestling-related documentaries ever.

One of the best wrestling-related documentaries ever. I think it is, hands down.

I loved it but it made the Screw Job look like a fix. I agree! This is why I think the screw job is a work.... well that and many other reasons. Mainly the British Bulldog telling a few of my friends who are wrestlers that it was a work, so that kind of helped.

However, my question is if it was a work.......why did they wait SO long. The hatred seemed all to real to me with Bret writing his book, not doing anything with WWE until 2005ish.

Well for one, Bret couldn't do ANYTHING really up until 2005. From that concussion to the stroke he had, to having to learn how to walk all over again and such, he wasn't ready to be 'Bret Hart' until 2005. Hey, it could very well be real, but I just find more evidence that it's a work than legit, that's all.

But, I guess we will truly never know.

Great doc.
I freaking love Bret. All time fav no question, but I agree he takes himself just a little to seriously and he's a very sensitive man.
Love him though.
I just can't get behind it being a work. Just don't see the over all logic and execution.. even if a few things hint that way.
Also, quite frankly Brets just not that good of an actor outside of the ring. He still seems hurt by it.
Eh.
Not related.. but when later part of his career comes up, I just get sad, cause I envision how he could have stayed healthy and eventually made his was back to the WWE to finish up a few things. I think if he'd been healthy and capable of wrestling, he'd have found it in his heart to return sooner.

Bret should've dropped the belt.
I have no sympathy for Bret. Never have. Never will.
Bret screwed Bret.

Impossible for Bret to have that kind of anguish, that kind of disdain and bitterness all by design. He was legitimately hurt by it and was never the same. Couple that with Owen, he never really came out of it.
To be fair, Bulldog may have said it was a work to just make it seem like it was all under control, y'know nothing to see here... move along....
Bret's not that good of an actor to make it look real.
It was legit.

Bret was never the same guy after it.....even before Owen. he was a wounded soul going to the locker room of WCW that was CRAMMED with political & personal enemies.
