I mean. I like Del Rio, so I'm happy for him...
I just can't believe what I saw. I'm just dumbfounded that Cena lost so easily like that.
Del Rio joins the small list of people who've pinned Cena clean, and Del Rio did it in less than 10 minutes! Just amazing.

I was SUPER shocked as well.
I knew he would lose but after a hard fought match (say 15+ minutes) not one so damn short.

I knew it was going to be a surprise, but I was hoping it was going to be either the Patriot, Jack Swagger disguised as the Patriot, Kurt Angle disguised as the Patriot, or Mr. America. All 4 of them could have worked with Zeb Colter. It would have been better if all 4 of them came out and challenged John Cena to a United States Championship Scramble match. It would have been nice to put the Shield on the Captain.

Cena lost clean in under 10 minutes in the opener and it's 2015. Just amazing.

Hey whatever, you want to bring ADR back even though you didn't know what to do with him for a lot of his last stint? Sure, ok.
But once again, the writers have proven they just don't know what they're doing anymore. You bring a guy back and have him go over the top dog...cleanly...in a quick match. Right. As usual you've made everyone else that Cena has demolished look weak as hell. But yet you scratch your heads and wonder why you can't make stars anymore. You scratch your heads and wonder why ratings keep falling.
THIS...IS...WHY!!!
I can only imagine the meeting went like this:
"Hey, Cena's taking time off...what do we do?" "Well...we have to take the belt off of him. Pick a guy who the fans LOVE and could really could use the rub. You know, Cesaro, Ziggler, or one of those guys." [Uncontrollable laughter] "Yeah, you're right...find me someone who hated it here, who we hated, who the fans hated...you know, a giant pain in the dick." "Does Marty Jannetty still work for us?" "No. Wait, I got it! Alberto Del Rio!" "Brilliant!"
At this point, I don't even give a wet fart anymore. They're never going to get it.

I thought it was Awesome! Sure he was boring in WWE for a while before he left but especially trough Lucha Underground i became a Fan of him again and him returning to beat Cena Clean. AWESOME!

He's been so much more interesting as Alberto El Patron in Lucha Underground and AAA than he ever was as Alberto Del Rio in WWE.
I was MORTIFIED when I saw that he was back.

Shocked to hear about ADR returning tonight. REALLY shocked to hear he won cleanly with a helluva lot less effort than others have put in these last few months. Figured at most Alberto would injure Cena (most likely the arm) and the US Championship would have been vacated.
I am one of those people that wished Cena's reign would have been used as a springboard for another guy. It's a shame Sami Zayn was injured in his match; felt that had the chance to blossom into a good rivalry that even could have drawn in Kevin Owens. Speaking of KO, he would also have been a stellar choice over the summer. And of course, several guys on the main roster could have benefited as well. Can't help but feel this Del Rio win is a continuation of his first run with the WWE attempting to push him to the Moon.
I'll give him a chance and see what he's able to do now. Zeb as his mouthpiece is a bit odd, but should at least improve his promos. Hope to see more development in his character, though WWE seems content on keeping guys as simple as possible. And for heaven's sake, work something other than the arm more often!

...unfortunately the match had been spoiled for me, and despite actually seeing it after I finished work, watched it with nothing but indifference...

As a natural heel the finish should have been dirty. It makes no sense to put over a guy who for the most part had a very mediocre run in the wwe. Guys like Cesaro etc. should have been put over clean rather than Del Rio. I must say though I did kinda mark out at the fact that it was surprise. Hopefully they can make his character more compelling this time around.

I never liked Alberto Del Rio and I'm not happy to see him back. I wish somebody else could have gotten that moment.

Second greatest night in the history of our sport. Greatest night was when Lesnar killed him dead at Summerslam. Killed him dead only for him to open up the show at Hell in a Cell 2015...Hmmm

this is the problem with WWE booking. Cena goes months having 5 star caliber matches with new guys, is kicking out of 57 finishers a night, is really the focal point of RAW, then all of a sudden he just drops the belt to Del Rio in the opener of HITC...it's like they TRIED to hide it so the kids won't even know what's happening.
and i think most people were still in aftershock of the fact that NOBODY actually knew this was going to happen. it was well played. the year+ off from Del Rio was needed. WWE booking destroyed everything good about the guy. Now he's back, fresh, ready to go and hopefully they won't turn him into just another boring guy who wrestles and is there.

I liked Del Rio & I miss Zeb. So this is a win/win for me.
As for the finish, it certainly wasn't the most suspenseful. But it got Del Rio the big win he needed to reinsert his stature in the company.
