But I thought Mattel didn't sign anyone. They only produce who WWE has under contract right? The way I took it was Mattel gives the WWE a list of who they want to make and then the WWE says who is approved (under contract/Legends deal) then Mattel makes a deal with with the wrestler for their likeness. I could be wrong but that is how I thought it worked. Seems legit to me. I'm not saying I disagree with you. Those caliber names of legends are probably on heftier contracts so I can easily see how they would be in the DM line to accumulate more dollars. At the end of the day it's all about the almighty dollar

Oh my Gosh! WHat an awful looking figure. This is Defining Moments? My gosh the plastic jacket is utter garbage and the face....looks like big bird. What an awful job by Mattel. Wanted Sting but easy pass now.
This was my one want as a sting fan and this looks like a Defining Disaster. Mattel will not steal my hard earned cash on this elite figure because that is not what Defining Moments and the extra price it costs is worth. Awful figure~!

Hmmm... the head-scan's not that great - and as the jacket is plastic, it definitely should have come with the Big Gold belt. Overall, not as good as I was hoping/expecting, but still a nice figure.

I really hate that face, it looks like that one basic John cena head. Although I won't damn the sculpt until I see it in person
I am slightly interested in those tights... They would work decent as a base for some rockers customs

I like it, I like the one JAKKS made for TNA a few years ago better though I have these Jakks Stings. I like them. DM Sting looks OK. Will pick it up. The boots are off but that is my only complaint. Maybe we will get lucky and Amazon will have it real cheap like they did with Taker Jakks wins this round LOL. I'll buy two anyway. Here's the RA style Jakks one released in the TNA legends line with cloth Jacket for the win!

I like the IDEA of cloth jackets, they dont look great though in this scale. You can have details on plastic that would look bulky and gaudy on cloth. Shirts and track pants are fine though

I have said this a few times since the relaunch of the DM line. We are paying for the name as all these guys are the big names...which probably cost Mattel more to sign. Hogan Sting Razoqr Flair At least with both Sting's they were actually defining moments in his career. I find it funny people are bitching about the GAB Sting being a DF while many in the past have said they wanted Goldberg as a DM. They then say to justify a guy in plain black trunks as a DM he could come with two titles. (Which would have to be WWE belts as they don't have the rights to make WCW Titles) If they did that it would still be an Elite. Elite Series 10(?) Big Show had two titles as a regular elite. These new DM I feel we are paying for the name and honestly I have no problem with that. For the most part they have all looked fantastic. Yup...and that's probably why the first Goldberg we get (IF we ever get one), will be a DM. Cost.

These are images of a pre-production sample. Most of our official images are from such samples, which are the last ones I review before they are finalized.Sometimes I am able to catch late errors before production, as with the Renee Young figure. The boots are being changed to be more accurate. The 1st run will be the laced boots. The rest of the run will be corrected boots. Jacket being molded was an aesthetic decision based on the facts 1) Sting's arm streamers were much thinner and more numerous than Macho Man's. If I used a SG jacket he would have streamers the same size as Macho Man's, which I did not want (they have to be a certain size to avoid choking hazards, no way around it). 2) I would also have lost the epaulets on the shoulders. If I would have produced a SG jacket with wide arm streamers and no shoulder epaulets I would have heard the feedback as well I am sure. Well I'm back on board if they're going to correct the boots. It might not seem like it, but it's kind of a bid deal. Sting always wore those kinds of boots and I'm pretty sure he was the first to do so. When I ordered my first pair of wrestling boots 13 years ago, I noticed that they had an entire section of those style of boots and they were called Stingers. You kinda have to nail that on a Sting figure. That would be like giving Hulk Hogan giant yellow kick pads and everyone is like..."Well, let's just be grateful that we're getting a Hulkster!".

The face reminds me of Christian.
I'll pass, but it's not bad...just not great.

I don't believe the figure is worth the price. Razor Ramon and Hogan actually came with a belt along with other accessories, so I see why they were DMs. Unfortunately the new surfer Sting is just bland, and only comes with a molded jacket. I'm going to wait for a sale before I even think about purchasing it.

I've learned with Mattel (especially after their e39 Sting) to not judge a scan till I see it in person. Because more often than not, they look much better once you have them in your hand.
The boots do annoy me though.

The problem with the jacket that came with the RSC American Sting is it doesn't have the shoulder tassils and was fitted for a much large DA figure. And to me they are very important details on the jacket to not to have with a 1990 GAB version of Sting. Plus it will be huge on the Mattel figures...So the Jakks jacket is out of the question to me for displaying loose. And if Mattel made the jacket cloth while it could have been the right colors/logos it still wouldn't have had the shoulder tassils. So I am very happy with the jacket we got. Again my only issue with the figure from the pics we have seen are the laced boots. I am fine with the scan, because I see the snarling look he would give with his chest beating into flexing taunt. I think it captures that expression nicely. After almost 26 years I am finally months away from having an official '90 GAB version of Sting. (Over the years I had made versions of a Galoob Sting, Toy Biz WCW Sting and a Jakks Legends Sting)
