Oh my Gosh! WHat an awful looking figure. This is Defining Moments? My gosh the plastic jacket is utter garbage and the face....looks like big bird. What an awful job by Mattel. Wanted Sting but easy pass now. This was my one want as a sting fan and this looks like a Defining Disaster. Mattel will not steal my hard earned cash on this elite figure because that is not what Defining Moments and the extra price it costs is worth. Awful figure~! Careful now, you nearly overreacted there.

The problem with the jacket that came with the RSC American Sting is it doesn't have a blue back with the silver shooting stars and it doesn't have the shoulder tassils. And to me they are all to important of details to not to have with a 1990 GAB version of Sting. So the Jakks jacket is out of the question to me for displaying loose. And if Mattel made the jacket cloth while it could have been the right colors/logos it still wouldn't have had the shoulder tassils. So I am very happy with the jacket we got. Again my only issue with the figure from the pics we have seen are the laced boots. I am fine with the scan, because I see the snarling look he would give with his chest beating into flexing taunt. I think it captures that expression nicely. After almost 26 years I am finally months away from having an official '90 GAB version of Sting. (Over the years I had made versions of a Galoob Sting, Toy Biz WCW Sting and a Jakks Legends Sting) Exactly how I feel. I've been waiting for the longest time for a GAB Sting. And (besides the boots) Mattel did not disappoint.

I love it. I like the jacket. I like the plastic jacket on the RSC Bret, I really don't mind the rubber jackets when they are done right.

1) I always thought it was harder to do flashbacks than current wrestlers. Why? It's easy to scan a current human face, than to just go off of photos and mold a figure.
2) I don't think the scan is bad. Much like the Elite Sting, I'm reserving any judgment until I see the figure up close. Elite Sting was destroyed on the board until people started receiving it.
3) The jacket works for me. It's a matter of opinion like all of this. But, I think it works as the jacket Sting wore had so many designs to it, that I don't think it could be properly replicated.

I think the jacket looks great as is. As soon as the boots get fixed this will be the perfect sting representation from my childhood! Can't wait to pick a couple up

What was macho mans jacket made of? Pleather or something. I have it, and like the figure, but (again, I know I'm the minority) it looks baggy and weird to me. Check earlier in the thread, though, and note MDT claim that stings tassels were smaller so they couldn't make them accurate w/fabric that would clear US safety standards and also they couldn't make the shoulder thingys that small. I wonder, for those who like them soft goods, if they could use plastic/rubber to make the shoulder tassle things, strap them onto a cloth jacket, and it'd look ok?

The fig is great but I'm still not sold on the idea of multiple defining moments for one guy...

No matter how many times I look at the face on that figure it just looks bad. It doesn't look like bad paint, or bad angles. It is just a bad sculpt all the way.

Um...I'm pretty sure that's an inside joke. They gave her Dean Ambrose's crazy eyes...because....well...you know what I mean (INNUENDO!)

Alright I'll breakdown my thoughts in bullet points, oh and btw Sting is my favorite wrestler. My first initial thought, wasn't a fan of the original render for the scan same applies to the actual prototype. Hopefully, this the sculpt just photographs bad but looks better in person. I'm also pretty sure they'll reuse this sculpt/scan for a future crow version which would be cool if it looks right. Oh, and the rat tail was a cool addition. The jacket... I remember saying the jacket would be the plastic/rubber cocoon thing and a user on here giving me crap because I was "assuming things."Haha guess I was right idiot. Anyways, back to the jacket. I don't think it justifies the $25 (and up) price point especially when it could of been released in the regular fb line for less. I'm not a fan of plastic jackets (the only time being when they're sleeveless) I liked that Bill explained why and also liked an idea someone mentioned about having it being made pleather but have the tassels and shoulder pads in a soft rubber. I guess we'll never get a pleather version from Mattel The boots, I understand everyone's frustration with them and I agree. It's good that Bill acknowledged them, just curious now to see which ones they'll use. I'm not really a fan of the facepaint they chose, I do however really liked the tights and I remember Sting wore those with a different facepaint one time(which I preferred). So for those who wanted it I'm happy for you guys. I'm curious to see if he got a new torso or if it's an old one. I just hope it's not the triple h or new Batista torso. The macho or Steve Austin torso would be fine imo. Final thoughts... I will not be getting this figure. I'm a huge fan of Sting but don't feel like it's worth the money. If it goes on sale for really cheap I might get it, but otherwise I'll wait for a future release in the fb line

Woof.
Think I'm done with this line. Same problems as DCUC: no improvements with articulation, samebody, dropping the ball harder than $cam Newton with many new figures, repeating the same guy over and over and over again. And now this. Cool jacket, Mattel.
