So I've only been back to working out regularly for a couple of weeks now. It's not really anything to brag about but I feel like I'm over the hump of dreading it. I also started keeping a written log in a notebook of what I do and any progress. Actually writing it down instead of typing it on my computer or phone has sort of made me feel more inclined to stick with it.

so the last chest day I had before this I ended up having the gym at the same time as 58 year old guy who’s had a ton of experience in strength training etc. was great because he advised me about form on some lifts, but now I’ve realized that my right shoulder is still an issue as I was avoiding using it and now knowing with some press movements...
not a problem, but a necessary challenge

Took four months but finally found some steel 45s at a reasonable price used. Had to sell the home gym setup about 8 months ago to pay bills until my wife's insurance claim settled. Once it did I started rebuilding but I didn't get enough weight before the pandemic hit so I was limited on how much strength I could regain. Finally can start really training again.

My gym re-opened on May 26th. I've been experimenting with different preworkout powders, I love the newest one. I'm actually getting decently strong, there are few machines that I can't do 100+ pounds on. I have the squat and triceps machines maxed out. Which means I either need to do more reps or move over to free weights (ugh).

Today was my first day at Planet Fitness, I switched from the YMCA. Any sort of confidence I had left once I walked in PF. I felt overwhelmed, I felt out of my league. Has that ever happened to y'all after switching to a better gym?

Has that ever happened to y'all after switching to a better gym? I think you'll find in most gyms the strongest are typically the nicest. The rude ones are never half as strong as they think they are. They reflect their own insecurities, the really strong ones know the work that goes in and tend to be a lot nicer. I remember being super intimidated when I switched to a true hardcore dungeon type gym, but it fades quickly.

Terrified to take the tape off my heel. I was moving a hutch into the basement, and stepped on a corner piece of plastic and essentially impaled myself in the foot. Thankfully I realized quick enough it didn't go too deep, but left a nice puncture. The skin has mostly reattached, but it still is really sensitive, so I threw a bandage on it and taped up around the bandage to hold it in place while I went to work out. I'm on a very simple workout plan these days of "Do what I feel like since I'm not competing in anything anymore" lol. That said I still have some structure, and today was squats & boxing. The place I impaled it was the exact spot of the heel that takes the most pressure squatting, so I'm curious to see if it's opened back up again. Moral of the story, try not to impale yourself.

Started new lifting program today, currently at 215. Gonna experiment with my nutrition. Feels good to have new direction every once and a while honestly.

Last Thursday I weighed myself at a friend's house, I weighed 193lbs even. My abs are starting to come back too. There's just a little bit of fat covering a LOT of muscle.

I’m still sore as from Monday. Trying to be more consistent again. That's the cruel part. After periods of infrequency your body rewards you by trying to encourage you to maintain that infrequency. Ie your body is an bunghole lol. Tell it to off.
