What are the results waiting on? Well Drakz is away so we only have one owner to compile results. Not everyone's turned their stuff in yet I imagine. Just because you were quick to the draw doesn't mean everyone else was. Chill, brah. You'll see results soon enough.

Every show, I find myself disheartened at the complete lack of feedback everyone here gets. While it doesn't tell an entire story, it does cause one to wonder if more than the requisite 3 to 5 people who offer feedback on every rp (two of which are the guys calling the shots) actually bother to read anyone else's work. I know for a fact that one current active roster member outed themselves as having not even bothered to have read their own opponents rps on a couple of past occasions this week, and so it really does make you stop and wonder.
I'll be doing it anyway, but I'm challenging every last writer here to read and respond to every RP for the upcoming PPV.

I'm currently waiting on one match, which I know is getting done as we speak (I hope), and then we're just locking down one segment. That's pretty much it. Potentially they'll be done tomorrow, more realistically on the weekend.

I would be in favor of a regulated reply system, probably something along the lines of, a writer needs to reply to at least two pieces before they can be eligible to sign for the next show.

As long as I'm owner then we wouldn't go for something like that. While I fully agree with Brennan that I'd love for more people to go and read and offer feedback to people, because quite frankly that's the only way people are going to improve around here and if you don't want to be facing guys who are as good as you then what's the point, I'm never going to force people to go and do it. This is after all a hobby, we put enough expectations down with deadlines without adding extra stuff on top.

I'll put it in more blunt, SYE-esque terms: I want people to read and respond to pieces because absorption is the best way to become a better writer. Struggling writers will improve by reading everything. Good writers will improve by continuing to hone in on what is and isn't resonating with readers. I don't want people to r&r as a caveat of participation here, because I want to be able to continue the time honored tradition of being able to use subtle clues to determine who's actively engaged here and who might be a dink only out for themselves (eg. the writer who admitted to not reading their opponents rps on two separate occasions).

I wouldn't have gotten better without reading Drakz, Kyzer, EBR, Calvin Lee, Wayne, and Rev's stuff and picking bits and pieces I liked from each to mold into my own. Easter Egg Hunt: I did a Dead Idol roleplay that was a straight copy & paste of an old EBR roleplay, with his knowledge, when I was getting bored with Dead Idol. I won the match and no one ever picked up on it.

I'll be honest: I don't comment on RPs because I just don't have the time. I have a lot going on in my life right now and have a child to look after every moment I'm awake. I'm dyslexic, so reading takes me a long time. I do skim them, but commenting without reading something fully would be a waste and an insult. For me to truly read and reply, it'd take me close to 3 hours for just one. This probably sounds like I'm making up a bullcrapexcuse, but I'm just being honest. I will probably never reply to an RP, but that doesn't mean I'm not reading them, or kind of reading them.

Hence the "might". I'm not dim enough to think that everyone who doesn't reply is some dense chud, but they're out there, for certain.

A softly-softly approach here might be helpful. Reading and replying to roleplays will help you improve without a shadow of a doubt, people who want to improve should do so as frequently as they are able to. For some people (possibly lots, I know I did for my first 5/6 years here) responding to roleplays is an incredibly daunting process. I can't help thinking it would be a better use of your time to find and aid people who want to do it - but aren't blessed with your self-confidence - rather than castigating people who don't want to do it.

You guys know I have a kid, right?
Seriously - obviously I don't blanketly assume that everyone who doesn't read and respond to rps is a dink. As a caveat - YES, not reading anyone else's stuff makes you a class act dink, and you should not be here of that's your game. There are weeks, hell, months, where I can't get to everyone either. Don't even try and tell me the type of people I suggested/hinted/alluded to aren't among us - we all know they are.
Bottom line - more people should be at least telling one another what they like. At least once every two shows, someone pops in here commenting that the place is dead.
Be the change you want to see.
...and don't try inciting it, apparently. Eesh.

My goal is to read everyone's and provide feedback to those I think could benefit after re-acclimating myself. For me, half the fun is reading other people's especially the person you're squaring off with.
