I would imagine they'll be in the mix for the playoffs. I'm not really sure what the experts think, but the Cards always seem to out-do their expectations when they're not great.

It's okay, Sir Didi got their backs. It's a good thing Didi exploded because Stanton and Sanchez haven't been doing anything. Besides that first game, Stanton has been a strikeout machine. The more troubling thing is the bullpen. This was supposed to be the major strength of the team, and it's been the biggest weakness through 5 games. I don't know if Boone is using them wrong or if it's just a weird bullpen slump that seems to have infected everyone but Chad Green, but it's bad. Tommy Kahnle has a 100 MPH fastball and he throws an 0-2 changeup to Denard Span IN THE ZONE....if you want to throw a changeup on 0-2 because you think he's looking fastball, that's fine, I get it, you think you can get him way out in front...but I don't understand the logic behind making it a hittable pitch! Throw the changeup LOW, if he swings and misses, GREAT. If not, it's a ball and you still have a 1-2 count. Betances already given up 2 home runs in 3 innings. Kahnle can't pitch a clean inning. Robertson served up a grandslam. Holder has been atrocious. Even Chapman has given up a run. Chad Green is really the only person I trust right now, but you don't want to burn him out so the rest of them are going to have to get it together, because the starting pitching has been pretty good, but they have 2 losses due to the bullpen. I know it's just a small sample size and hopefully just a weird little funk and hopefully they break out of it.

In Pittsburgh, the Pirates blew a 4-0 lead
In San Francisco, Cutch went 6 for 7 with 4 RBI’s,
Good thing the Pirates decided they didn’t need him anymore.

The Yankees are the scariest .500 team in the history of baseball. When they gonna' turn it on and steamroll the rest of the league?

The Yankees are playing like crap and Aaron Boone is making it waaaay worse with his awful use of the bullpen.
Maybe Stanton can't handle the pressure of playing in Stadiums with people actually in them? He'd never had a 5K game in his career until joining the Yankees and he's already had two of them in his first 10 games as a Yankee. He's so pathetic right now the Orioles walked Aaron Judge to pitch to him!
The Yankees are just digging a hole and the deeper it gets the harder it's going to be to get out. The Red Sox are off to a super hot start and they very well might be legit, so if the Yankees fall into a 8-10 game deficit in the Division, I don't care if there's 100+ games left, they might never come out of it.

The Yankees suck. The whole team is just garbage. Aaron Boone seems like he's got no clue.
Except for Severino the entire pitching rotation is awful. Tanaka is a home run factory. Sonny Gray can't get anybody out. Montgomery is inconsistent. And Sabathia is 37 so what can we really expect? He'll be on the DL multiple times this year, and when he's not on the DL he'll pitch like a 37-38 year old.
The bullpen can't hold any leads and they make deficits much worse. Kahnle has been relegated to being a mop up man, and everyone else has inconsistent at best.
The hitting has been awful as well. The team has shown ZERO clutch hitting. When they are behind the team just crawls into a hole and dies.
So far everything that can go wrong has gone wrong. I don't know if they over-performed last year and maybe the team is just not as good as we thought, or if this is just one of those situations where sometimes you just have catastrophic failure and it can't be explained?
They better get it together because so far in 2018 I have not seen one positive thing to come out of any of these games.

As someone from the UK with relatively limited baseball knowledge, can someone tell me how the fixtures are decided?
With football, everyone plays everyone twice, once home and once away per season with the league officials drawing up when exactly each game takes place.
I know in baseball everyone plays 162 games but not every team plays each other each season, I noticed there is no Red Sox vs Cubs game this season for example. Who decides who plays who?
