As someone from the UK with relatively limited baseball knowledge, can someone tell me how the fixtures are decided? With football, everyone plays everyone twice, once home and once away per season with the league officials drawing up when exactly each game takes place. I know in baseball everyone plays 162 games but not every team plays each other each season, I noticed there is no Red Sox vs Cubs game this season for example. Who decides who plays who? American League and National League are kept separate but there is at least one interleague game a day because there are 15 teams in each league. Red Sox vs Cubs would be an interleague series but it doesnt happen this season because I guess it doesnt fit the schedule. The only guaranteed interleague series that happen every season are regional rivals series like Yankees vs Mets, White Sox vs Cubs, Twins vs Brewers, Athletics vs Giants, etc.

The Red Sox got no-hit by some scrubby guy from the Athletics I would take getting no-hit every 20 games if I could be 17 - 3 in between each one.

He'll get it going eventually, and when he does it's going to be a bloodbath. Yanks are scoring great right now without him. Imagine what it would be like if he was actually hitting? I think he'll be fine.

Imagine what it can be like with a healthy Bird. Tyler Austin has done a great job tho. We have the good problem of not knowing what to do with people when they’re healthy. I just hope they don’t try to force Drury as the main third baseman whenever he comes back.

I just hope they don’t try to force Drury as the main third baseman whenever he comes back. What I would do is when Drury comes back, get rid of Neil Walker. The guy has been absolute trash. You can't take Miguel Andujar off the team or out of the lineup, he's been on fire. When Bird comes back, I think you send down Austin just because a healthy Bird is a better option, but if Bird has issues or gets injured again, then I have no problem going with Tyler Austin as the starting first basemen. The thing with Bird and Austin is they can't be on the same team because Austin can't be rotting away on the bench and I'd rather him staying sharp and playing every day in AAA than rotting on the bench up here. I would use Drury as backup 3B when Andujar needs a day off, and as a backup first basemen for either Bird or Austin. Torreyes has it covered backing up 2nd and short. Other than that, just let the team roll. Sonny Gray is really the only consistent problem with the team. A few more awful ones and I'd consider giving Chance Adams a shot. Justus Sheffield just got promoted to AAA, so I think going with Chance Adams first is the way to go. And obviously as always the Yanks will probably be looking at the SP market at the deadline, and DEFINITELY the FA class after the season.

I mentioned to a friend that I think Walker is struggling in part because he missed most of spring training. Most of the players who signed really late are struggling. I would agree tho, release him. I don’t watch every game, but when’s the last time he even played?

Anybody else watching the Yanks game and wondering what the heck happened with that “double play?” Why wouldn’t we just challenge the play to get it corrected?

Hopefully Montgomery doesn't need Tommy John. Any time anybody has anything elbow related it usually doesn't end well.
German did a great job in relief though and if they stretch him out he could be a good fill in if they don't want to promote Chance Adams (who is not pitching well at AAA).
Yanks will clearly be looking to make a trade at the deadline for a starter.

Couple wild days for the Yanks, but they’ve continued to come out on top. Lose a 3-0 lead to Houston and come back from 5-3 in the 9th, and lose a 5-0 lead to Cleveland, blow 6-5 in the 9th, but still get a walk-off hit in the bottom of the 9th. I’m just gonna keep enjoying this stretch of wins while it lasts.
