You guys do remember that Brock lost his first UFC fight in less time, right?

You guys do remember that Brock lost his first UFC fight in less time, right? Brock's an entirely different animal. Brock has NCAA experience and you've gotta realize who he fought in his first UFC fight. Mir was a beast. Edit* Only mentioning his passed experience because I think you were implying Punk could come back and be a world beater.

You guys do remember that Brock lost his first UFC fight in less time, right? You're referring to the come-from-behind, hail mary kneebar Mir pulled after being instantly taken down and violently pounded by Brock after getting zero offense in? Yes I remember, most MMA fans do. Now how is that relevant to a CM Punk getting absolutely dismantled again?

Not saying he could be a world beater, but a lot of people seem to be dismissing him. I very highly doubt he'd ever get a title shot (much less win), but people are acting as if he was a total scrub. He made a bad choice early on, but held on for a good bit. He isn't going to be a big MMA star, much less a Brock Lesnar, but this whole "lol the fake wrestler got beat up, obviously none of them could do it" mentality I am seeing is ridiculous. You're referring to the come-from-behind, hail mary kneebar Mir pulled after being instantly taken down and violently pounded by Brock after getting zero offense in? Yes I remember, most MMA fans do. Now how is that relevant to a CM Punk getting absolutely dismantled again? Lesnar had the upper hand for near the entire duration, but because he wasn't being cautious and gave Mir a lot of wiggle room, he got caught. I am not really a fan of UFC, but Punk's approach just looked like a failed surprise attack, as I haven't seen someone just run in like that. It seemed like a rookie mistake. Punk also (partially) fought out of the choke. I am not saying that he is going to be a big MMA star.

He was suprised with the crowd showing him love, said he felt ready to fight. Has a lot if words of encouragement for Gall too. Hasn't talked to Dana or any big wigs just yet. He seems to be really talking down on himself major. Happy to prove everyone who said he would never step foot in the Octagon wrong. ----------------------- Good for him man, good for him. Dude should be proud of himself. Feel kinda bad for him but he seems determined as all hell to get back to training and trying to get back on that horse. Just got home, watching it now. Man...it's hard seeing him choke up and look bleary-eyed...man, it meant so much to him.

I'll give Punk another chance, You just never know. Gall was extremely underestimated and this could end up being the start of a huge run for the kid. Maybe Punk bit off a bit more than he could chew for his first fight. He blows the next fight, itll be a wrap for his UFC career.

You guys do remember that Brock lost his first UFC fight in less time, right? Frank Mir was a former Heavyweight champion. Mickey Gall is 2-0. Brock put up or shut up. The UFC had to go out there and find a guy they thought could compete with Punk. To be honest I don't think Punk is going to be able to get licensed to fight again. They had to make an exception for him to fight this time. He will go to TUF and fight exhibition fights, and get huge ratings.

Just got back from the Q. All i gotta say about the main event was WOW! I've been to a decent amount of wrestling shows, never in my life have i been in an arena where the crowd was so loud i couldn't hear myself think. It felt like the Cavs won the championship again. I thought Overeem won it at firsr, but then he let go, which BTW Overeem, Miocic did not tap at all. I'll give him the benefit of doubt for thinking he did, even though i didn't see where it made have even felt like he tapped

My problem is with the MMA Fighter vs Pro-Wrestler stigma. Punk also started 7 years older than Brock.

You guys do remember that Brock lost his first UFC fight in less time, right? Brock didn't get dominated the whole fight and then choked out... Look, I love Punk, but he's way out of his league. At his age, he shouldn't be getting into a full contact sport. Love the guy, but it's just bad for him all the way around. I respect the hell out of him for stepping in there and not making any excuses when he got his ass handed to him.

They can, but the backlash they got from their own fighters makes me believe they wont. If anything he will go where he belonged in the first place and that is The Ultimate Fighter. How they make Kimbo and Roy Nelson do it but not Punk is mind boggling. I think we all know the reason: PPV $ Maybe now the "curiosity" of his first fight is out the way, they might put him on TUF... could be the best thing to do(?) Just got home, watching it now. Man...it's hard seeing him choke up and look bleary-eyed...man, it meant so much to him. Yeah, it was tough seeing him so choked-up... people can hate him/it all they want, but the passion and dedication Punk has for MMA is admirable.

Agreed 100% SteveHulk - that and how he looked when he got to walk out, as well as his interview with Joe Rogan...there's already memes of his inspired words and I for one am a fan of his simply for sticking to his guns and giving it a go.

I've never been much of a CM Punk fan. He was a talented wrestler but never "moved the meter" for me.
However, I respect him for this. It takes a lot of guts to step in there at his age, with the spotlight on you, after leaving another lucrative profession. I can't hate on him for losing.

You win and you lose. This isn't wwe where you're pretty much guaranteed a winning debut. After all he got from people saying how he got back surgery to delay his fight, how he wouldn't go through with it, well look what happened. Just like always he proved people wrong and he stepped in that ring. These guys have trained for years and have fought before. Punk had what, probably a years total of training? Not to mention he's 37 going up against a kid in his early 20's. In a heavyweight fight that sounds like a big mistake but in the lower divisions, it's the opposite

If Punk can even win the fight to get into the house, he will be in there with 14 or 15 other guys just like Mickey Gall who are young, hungry and looking to make a name for themselves. I think Punk will get released and Bellator, WSOF or Rizin FF will sign him.

I'm not a fan or follower of UFC or MMA but the recent involvement of both Lesnar and Punk got me watching. As a wrestling fan and a fan of both men, I wanted to see both guys do well and also wanted to see Punk silence those those wrestling fans who seem be living vicariously through wanting to see Punk fail. As well as silencing those annoying, insecure UFC fans that try way too hard to prove their masculinity and think that they're telling a 3 year old child that Santa isn't real when they tell someone that wrestling is fake. The people who are still bitter about him leaving WWE and do nothing but talk about 24-7 really need to get a life. Imagine being so obsessed with someone that you buy a ppv for a sport that you don't even like just for the purpose of seeing someone lose. Pathetic. (This isn't aimed at anyone on this forum, just some parasites on Twitter who seem to live vicariously through Punk's misfortunes, they seemingly hate him but just can't shut the up about him. Really says a lot about their own lives.) Brock did a good job of putting Mark Hunt right in his place... until he failed a drug test. I followed Punk's journey over the last couple of weeks including watching the documentaries and the stuff over the weekend leading up to the fight. I watched the full fight on Twitter this morning. Punk got absolutely destroyed, which gave all the people I just talked about all the ammunition they needed. I never quite expected it to be THAT one sided. I feel like he underestimated Gall, he almost tried to intimidate him at the press conference, and then jumped in feet first, went to swing a punch and Gall was gone, the guy was lightning quick! I have a lot of respect for Mickey Gall, the guy seems extremely humble and showed maximum respect to Punk the entire time leading up to the fight and after it.

CM Punk needs to stay at home. Respect to him but it was embarrassing to watch.

Dana White said that Punk "probably shouldn't have his next fight in the UFC".
If Punk wants to keep fighting, and UFC is no longer an option, I guess he can go to Bellator. They'll feed him a couple 'tomato cans' like they have with Lashley for most of his MMA career.
