I was really surprised at how aggressive and reckless Werdum was in that first round against Browne... if he fights like that against Miocic, Cain or JDS, he's gonna get KTFO'd again.

So funny to see Punk get beat down like that. That was a worse performance than a Kimbo Slice fight honestly. He walked into that takedown like he'd never trained a day in his life lmfao what was he doing for the past couple years man? Whatever it was Im starting to doubt it was training for an MMA debut.

Dana White said that Punk "probably shouldn't have his next fight in the UFC". If Punk wants to keep fighting, and UFC is no longer an option, I guess he can go to Bellator. They'll feed him a couple 'tomato cans' like they have with Lashley for most of his MMA career. Lashley at least had some prior competition experience, and a clue. Based on his performance last night, I feel like it'd be hard to find anyone that would be a tomato can compared to Punk.

He was never going to win with only 2 years of training, let's face it these guys fight for years before their first match and work the way up the ladder, something that punk never did.

My well-documented personal feelings for Punk aside, I'll give Punk credit for having balls, but there's a fine line between guts and stupidity. He tripped over it and landed on his ear. I've been training for two years, and if I planned on fighting as anything more than a hobby, I certainly wouldn't get in there after only two years of heavy training. You don't watch the entire series of the crocodile hunter, go to the zoo and talk to a trainer, and wrestle around with a stuffed animal and then just hop into the lake and start hitting GTS and little kicks on crocodiles. Obviously his training was FAR more than that, but come on. He's getting a little too much credit for his bravery and not enough flack for his arrogance.

It was Dana White who offered him the contract to fight in the UFC after Punk just made a passing mention he was interested in fighting, so of course he was going to take that opportunity. Logically, he shouldve turned it down to avoid embarassment and not only that, Punk probably lost money on this venture. He hasnt had a big payday since quitting the WWE, training with Duke Roufus isnt cheap and he had to move to Milwaukee.

I'm proud of Punk for trying and his words after his loss have no less meaning just because other people have said them before. Better to face the loss with your head up then crying or making excuses. I have a lot of respect for Micky Gall. He handled being overlooked for a good majority of the build up to the fight and proved a point that he is more than just CM Punk's debut match.
I wish Punk started at a smaller scale and as a CM Punk supporter I wish the outcome was different but it is what it is and hopefully he can grow from it. it was a good business opportunity for UFC so I'm not surprised Dana was willing to throw him in so early.

King Bálor (CM)™Agreed. Dude won me over in his debut and even further against Mark Hunt. ... Sadly it seems Overeem is claiming Stipe tapped during the guillotine attempt. He's on crack! And I like Overeem...probably next best heavyweight next to Stipe. He is by far the best heavyweight in the divison right now...not even close. I wont give him that honor just yet. Lets see if he can take out guys like Cain or JDS 1st. I think Cain is on the downside of his career. He is by far the best heavyweight in the divison right now...not even close. Hmmm... he may be be the best, but to say it's not even close is going a bit far. JDS has a win over him, so it would be really interesting to see a rematch. And you can never count out Cain Velasquez... when he's "on", he looks unstoppable. Ideally, I'd like Miocic/JDS 2 and Cain/Werdum 2 (on the same card!), with the winners to meet each other. I think the JDS fight makes the most sense. Gives Miocic a chance to avenge his loss. Gives UFC a chance to build a fight. The man to beat Miocic is coming for the belt.

I willing to bet money that Punk never had or has any interest in bouncing around PRO/AM MMA shows while working on the craft and getting experience.. I think he did this for the exposure and as an opportunity and as a paycheck. We'll see what happens moving forward.. WHAT IF?! Vince and Dana have a good relationship.. How great of a conspiracy theory would it be if Vince asked Dana to reach out to CM Punk and offer him a chance to fight. Vince knowing CM Punk knew Punk's ego would immediately jump on the opportunity.. Give him to one of Dana's up and coming young prospects and BAM. Vince is enjoying more sweet sweet petty revenge.

Besides Stipe Miocic getting a nice KO this show sucked. Werdum can't get the next title after that gong show of a fight with forever gate keeper Travis Browne.

Punk was paid 500,000 for the fight. I'd take the beating he got for 500k. The guy that beat him up only got 30k.

I KNOW this was all about money but there are tons of other great MMA fighters out there that actually deserve to be in the UFC. Its comical to me that he gets praise for this. Yes, he had balls in taking the chance, and was very smart in making his money but if he continues this, I don't see it being good for him

The released amount(s) was 15 for the fight and 15 for the win. Other payouts - Alistair Overeem ($800,000 plus a $50,000 bonus for performance) and UFC Heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic ($600,0000 plus a $50,000 performance bonus).

Mickey Gall was only on the show because of CM Punk and even if he was fighting somebody else, he wouldve gotten the same amount.
