WWF Prime Time Wrestling March 27th, 1989 Hosts: Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby "the Brain" Heenan
The Return of Piper's Pit (shown first on Superstars and repeated here): Wow two years ago ha-ha, two years ago I was out on this stage saying my final goodbyes declaring the end of Piper's Pit, and now finally it's back (fans cheer)! You know when I left I went to Hollywood shooting They Live and Hell Comes to Frogtown ha, it was great, had a lot of fun, and then I got a call if I wanted to come to the WWF to make an appearance as some guest celebrity for Wrestlemania V.
Lo and behold what did I see instead? Two years ago at this very stage I saw Hulkamania running wild as it was, and now, what happened to you Hulkster? Maybe someone needs to slap you silly so you could remember who you were ha and I would love to see Ric Flair do it o man Ric Flair, are you kidding me, who would've thought in a million years that the Nature Boy would be in the WWF ha man what a crazy two years it has been. But you know from all the crazy, whether it's Rick Rude teasing another man's wife, and Macho Madness ha I wouldn't want to be messing with him right now ha, with all that I saw something worse.
I saw a multi-millionaire pay his way to the top of the ladder. I saw a guy, who pays guys to do his dirty work and when I saw it at The Main Event man, Andre snapped ha and then at Saturday Night's Main Event I invited myself in to talk to Mr. Tunney and after seeing what happened to Andre, I knew I just knew I had to get back in the ring one more time. I had to get back in and help Andre the Giant, help everyone who has been used and abused and in everyway possible embarassed by this son of a (bleep) who calls himself the Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase.
Ted Dibiase I don't even remember you man ha you weren't even here two years ago and what a mark you've made man ha but at Wrestlemania V (out comes Andre the Giant)...my goodness ladies gentlemen, Andre the Giant! How are you doing buddy (gets a pop)?
Andre: Big John Studd, Mr. Dibiase at Wrestlemania V Roddy Piper and I are ready for you and I will squeeze you little dollar man, and you Big John Studd, I'm going to bodyslam you and send you to the depths of the earth. Piper: That's right Trump Plaza's going to erupt ha, we're going to make it big in Atlantic City with Dibiase's money ha and the whole world will be watching me and Andre kick your a(bleep)s!! (drops mic and they leave) Most of the show was about Wrestlemania V feuds and there highlights. Matches:
The Brain Busters (w/J.J Dillon) (c) def. The Bolsheviks via pinfall to retain the WWF Intercontinental Championship The Young Stallions def. jobbers via pinfall King Hercules def. jobber via pinfall

Randy: Ooo ya Hulk Hogan you got to give him credit for what he's done in the WWF ya but the dark path he took ya I know what everyone is thinking and I will get my hands on Hulk Hogan even at Wrestlemania V I want to find him ya but there's a bit of Bad News left ya a guy who cost me my match against Hogan a guy who thinks he can use the race card to get his way ya... Hall: But it's got to be more than that because you and Hogan really have some unfinished business. Randy: Ooo you know Hulk showed his true colors ya when he cost me the World title ya, he hurt Miss Elizabeth... Hall: But she's still managing him and she'll will be in his corner I mean why can't she just escape? I mean I've seen managers leave there guys. Randy: Stockholm syndrome (audience laughs)...ya that's what I think it is but Hogan knows if he tries anything ya he sleeps sometime right? Ric Flair or Hulk Hogan? You betcha it ain't gonna be Hogan. Hall: Well maybe you should've asked for a title shot... Randy: Well why don't you ask the audience out here what they would think of the Macho Man going for the belt...(they all cheer) ya there with me and the world is with me ya, Elizabeth will be by my side, Hulk Hogan is going to cry like a baby and soon all will be well in the world ya!!!! Wrestlemania V Trump Plaza logo and theme are shown and the crowd is ready to go. The National Anthem was played during the pre-show to save time. Gorilla: Welcome to the jam packed Trump Plaza for Wrestlemania V and what a show we've got for you! I'm Gorilla Monsoon... Jesse: I'm Jesse "the Body" Ventura and tonight we are going to see an end to Ric Flair's career because I got a feeling that Hulk Hogan's going to make sure he leaves tonight along with the Brainbusters who will lose their tag titles. Gorilla: We've got so much action for you tonight and look at the celebrities here we got Donald Trump, Run-DMC and Morton Downey Jr...(Rockers music is on) and we're ready to begin! _________________________________________________________________ The Rockers & The Bushwhackers vs. The Fabulous Rougeaus & Rhythm and Blues (w/Jimmy Hart) in an Eight-man Tag match
The show starts off as a fast pace Eight-man tag match. Jimmy Hart is announced as the official manager of the Fabulous Rougeaus. The Honkytonk Man manages to get a pin on Bushwhacker Luke with the Shake Rattle n' Roll finisher for the win. Winner: The Fabulous Rougeaus & Rhythm and Blues via pinfall_________________________________________________________________ Brutus Beefcake vs. Mr. Perfect in Singles competition
Beefcake gets into the ring while Perfect was waiting for him. This was more of a technical match than a traditional spoof that was Beefcake's usual style. Perfect manages to get the upset with the perfectplex finisher. Winner: Mr. Perfect via pinfall
Beefcake gets really angry and can't believe he lost. He knocks down Mr. Perfect and goes for his barber set before Perfect is able to get away in time. _________________________________________________________________ Strike Force vs. The Twin Towers (w/Slick) in a Tag team match
An anticipated tag team match, Strike Force show they have much stamina taking on the bigger Big Boss Man and Akeem. During the match, as Rick Martel begs for a tag and barely gets a chance to wrestle, he takes out his frustration and mocks Tito who manages to drag himself close enough for the tag. Martel leaves Tito Santana behind. Big Boss Man gets the sidewalk slam as Akeem lands the big slaps for the win. Winner: The Twin Towers via pinfall_________________________________________________________________ The Ultimate Warrior vs. Terry Taylor (w/Heenan) in Singles competitionFor the Warrior it was more of a squash for him as he does several clotheslines and shoulderblocks. Heenan tries to interfere during the match several times, but Warrior manages to get him in the middle of the ring with a botched Gorilla press, hurting the Warrior in the process. The referee calls for the bell. Winner: Terry Taylor via DQ.Gorilla: I can't believe the Ultimate Warrior lost! Well this one's over Jess... Jesse: Heenan looks like he was going to break earlier on when I saw him but it looks like the Warrior broke him in half in the middle of the ring! _________________________________________________________________ Ric Flair, J.J Dillon and the Brainbusters interview with Mean Gene: Gene: Gentlemen later tonight the Nature Boy Ric Flair will be defending the WWF Heavyweight Championship against the Incredible Hulk Hogan, but before that we are moments away from the Brainbusters defending there WWF Tag Team Championships against the Hart Foundation. Arn: We got a lot going on with everyone on our backs, they don't want us here they say we aren't welcome, well I say I don't give a damn because the Brainbusters are going to continue on fighting... Tully: That's right, but I got to say Arn, we got to watch our backs while they're all after us. Arn: And the Hart Foundation is just one of the many to fall. Flair: Wooooo! This is going to be the greatest night of all of our careers, the greatest moment when I step into the ring with Hulk Hogan as we clash as two of the biggest names out there, when I lock up with you Hulk Hogan it's going to be the worst night of your life and with J.J Dillon by my side and the Brainbusters watching the match, I'm going to have to have a stroke before I let you pin me, I'm going to have to be buried six feet under before you make me submit, I'm going to have to be run over by a truck before you bring me down to the mat, you'd have to have crashland my jet into a waistland before I'm going to leave here tonight without the greatest prize in professional wrestling wooo!! Dillion: If I was a betting man, and I know I am, I'd walk out with these three as the manager of champions, true champions of the world. I could feel the momentum going in, side by side with these three men, I just know what the Hart Foundation are all about, what an Anvil feels like and what it is to have a Hart, but you don't got Hearts, you don't got brains either as the Brainbusters are going to pull'em outta ya and you Hulk Hogan, zoom in that camera closer (signals "four" fingers for the Four Horsemen)....you better listen up, you think you're so sly trying to pull a fast one in the contract signing but rest assured, after my man Ric Flair is done with you, you're going to be running for your life. Hear my words, running, because that's the man you've become, one of the most beloved men in the world, now a coward chasing after money and old dreams. _________________________________________________________________ The Brainbusters (w/J.J Dillon) (c) vs. The Hart Foundation (w/Jimmy Hart) for the WWF Tag Team ChampionshipsArn goes first with the Anvil. Tully and Hart are next. Later in the match, the Fabulous Rougeaus, Greg Valentine, Honkytonk Man and even the Bolsheviks all walk out to ring side and Gorilla says it's turned into a lumberjack match. Arn and Tully manage to get Bret into the Spike piledriver position, but Jimmy Hart distracts the referee as three of the tag teams from the outside beat up on Arn and Tully. Arn and Tully however manage to quickly leave the ring to regroup. The referee notices them all and they run off. The ref is about to call for the bell, but Arn and Tully run back in to go after Hart and Anvil. The ref is confused on who the legal man is as Arn manages to get the spinning spinebuster finisher on Anvil for the pin and win. Winner: The Brainbusters via pinfall to retain the WWF Tag Team Championships_________________________________________________________________ Magnificent Muraco vs. Harley Race in a Retirement Match. Bobby Heenan is in the back in the medic room recuperating from his attack by the Warrior as Harley Race comes to his aid and asks how he is. Muraco brings in some edibles for Heenan. Race and Muraco see each other and start going at it before the match could even begin. Heenan is shouting for them to stop. Race and Muraco start going into the hallways as other WWF Superstars start to surround them shouting "fight" in a juvenile fashion. Heenan limps with a backache and tells them both to stop. Suddenly Race shoves Muraco into Heenan as Heenan falls down. Race apologizes and Heenan says he wants nothing to do with both of them. He calls out security and security guards in the stadium take them both out of the arena. Winner: No contestGorilla: It looks to me that both men have retired! Jesse: What a humiliating way to go but I gotta be honest, I feel for Heenan these fools couldn't get along in the Heenan family and security did the right thing. _________________________________________________________________ TO BE CONTINUED

- So Harley Race and Don Muraco are both gone because the Retirement Match ends in a No Contest I mean I definitely did not expect this result but at the same time if that means both superstars are gone I can somehow see Race going back to WCW while Muraco I think he will most likely end up there too or if they are both done as wrestlers then I mean if that was their last match then that was kind of a bittersweet way to end their careers
- Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard retaining their WWF Tag Team Championships beating The Hart Foundation...I mean now that they have done that I mean what if Flair somehow ends up losing the main event and he ends up losing the title to Hogan? Then that means wouldn't Arn and Tully leave the WWF with the titles or would the titles be vacated then in that regard? I mean Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard this was their first WrestleMania and in their first Mania they manage to beat a legit tag team The Hart Foundation Bret and Anvil to retain their titles I mean if that doesn't legitimize them as top guys here in the WWF I don't know what does
- Ultimate Warrior losing against Terry Taylor all be it by DQ...I mean yeah sure Taylor may have won the match on a technicality but the whole match he was getting his ass kicked more or less by Warrior and if it hadn't been for Heenan interfering causing the DQ then Warrior would have won this match but post-match I would say Heenan more or less paid for it he got what he deserved
- The Twin Towers Bossman and Akeem The One Man Gang beating Strike Force...I mean Rick Martel more or less turned on Tito Santana here in the match he barely got into the match because let's face it there has been tension between him and Tito for a while now and here at Mania it finally all came to a head with Rick walking out on Tito but it pretty much will solidify his heel turn with him becoming "The Model" whereas Tito I am sure he will somehow make or try to make Rick Martel pay for turning on him
- Mr. Perfect with a huge win beating Brutus The Barber Beefcake I mean Perfect has been on a roll I mean he just continues to keep winning match after match with victory after victory being piled up but with that being said I do wonder what is next for Perfect? Perhaps him setting his sights on either the WWF Intercontinental Championship or setting his sights on the WWF Championship
- The Fabolous Rougeaus and Rhythm & Blues beating The Bushwhackers and The Rockers I mean this was a perfect way to open up Mania way to liven the crowd

Wrestlemania V PART 2 of 3 Demolition vs. The Powers of Pain (w/Mr. Fuji) in a Tornado Tag MatchIn this rare grudge match, Demolition get in followed by the Powers of Pain. Since it's a Tornado match, there are no tags and all four are in the ring at the same time. It's an all out brawl with Ax and Barbarian going at it in one corner and Smash and Warlord going at it in another, with a switch of opponents later on. Later in the match, Mr. Fuji runs in while the referee is trying to handle the difficulty style of the match itself, and tosses white powder into Smash, but Smash ducked in time as it gets into Barbarian's eyes as Smash and Ax both manage to clothesline Warlord to the outside and double team Barbarian with the elbow drop finisher. Winner: Demolition via pinfall__________________________________________ Mean Gene with Big John Studd and Ted Dibiase with Virgil and Sherri: Gene: With me at this time is a man who claims to be the real giant of professional wrestling and his tag team partner the Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase. Dibiase: Did you hear that Andre? The real giant of professional wrestling this is him Big John Studd! Gene: Wait a minute now I didn't say... Dibiase: It doesn't matter what you say because tonight, when the big man and myself get into the ring we'll end Andre the Giant's career once and for all because it's time for him to go. Studd: Fee Fie Foe Fum I'm coming after you Andre to take your place as the true Giant, the one and only Giant of wrestling. Dibiase: And as for you Roddy Piper, you got the nerve to try to make a return. You haven't wrestled in two years! Two years! You're not ready, you're too hollywood and like any celebrity, they'll be brought to there knees if the price is right if you know what I mean (laughs) Gene: Sensational Sherri, I must ask we are moments away from your match with the Ladies World Champion, Rockin' Robin. Sherri: It's been far too long, she's held that title of mine but she better keep it shined up for me tonight when I win it back (laughs) Dibiase: Let's go! Gene: Wait all of you are going? __________________________________________ Rockin' Robin (c) vs. Sensational Sherri (w/Ted Dibiase, Virgil, Studd) for the WWF Ladies World ChampionshipThe referee is an unknown in the ring. Rockin' Robin gets in the ring first followed by Sensational Sherri who walks out with Ted Dibiase, Virgil and Big John Studd. Gorilla says this is completely unfair and Studd has no business being out here. The match is fast paced between the two, but every time Robin tries to get the pinfall, Virgil interferes. Later Sherri manages to get a smallpackage, but Robin had her hands on the ropes during the pin as the referee calls for the bell. Winner: Sensational Sherri via pinfall to become the NEW Ladies World Champion
Ted Dibiase gets in the ring with Virgil and Studd to celebrate the championship win with Sherri. Gorilla believes the referee got paid off during the match. Jesse says that the ref is a rookie and made a rookie mistake, nothing new. __________________________________________ Mean Gene with Bad News Brown (in regular clothing as per Harlem street rules): Gene: I'm here at this time... Brown: (takes the mic away from Gene) Gimme that you all listen up, next up is my match with the Macho Man and it's a Harlem street fight, anything goes in this match there are no disqualifications or countouts, it's an all out war and I will be the one left standing got it. All you need to know boy is that tonight I'm going to show Randy Savage what Harlem's about. There's going to be a pool of blood after I'm done with him and kids you need to close your eyes because it's about to get ugly Gene: (gets the mic back) I haven't heard from the Macho Man but the match up is next. __________________________________________ Randy "Macho Man" Savage vs. Bad News Brown in a Harlem Street FightBad News Brown comes down to aisle with much heat. Randy's music is on and nobody comes out. Suddenly the crowd notices someone in jeans and a hoodie in the crowd and runs into the ring. Brown is waiting as the hooded figure starts beating up on Brown. The hoodie is off and it's Randy Savage. The Macho Man lands several punches, but Brown over powers him as he starts to punch him out on the mat. Savage pushes him aside and Brown jumps him. Savage counters with a high knee kick, Brown goes for a ghettoblaster and lands it as Randy falls to the outside. Brown and Randy are on the outside landing punches and kicks on each other back and forth. Brown smashes Randy into the apron. Randy shoves Brown into the ring post. Brown rams Randy into the railings. Randy smashes one of the crowd's chairs over Brown's back when he was turned. Randy and Brown are back in the ring. Brown tries to keep Randy down, but Randy goes for the legs trying to get in a submission move and the figure-four, but Brown kicks him out of the ring again. Brown is on the offensive and rams Randy's head on the announce table. Both men's foreheads are cut as little blood is noticable. Brown finds a table underneath the ring and sets it up. Randy jumps on top of the announce table and double axes Brown into the other table as they both fall. Both men are out of it till Randy is finally up. Brown is hurt and decides to go up the aisle steps to leave ringside. Randy goes after him and smashes his head on the steps. Brown counters and goes for a bodyslam on the steps, but Randy rolls him down on the concrete with a reversal and the pin for the win. Winner: Randy Savage via pinfall
__________________________________________ Mean Gene with the Incredible Hulk Hogan and Elizabeth Gene: With me at this time is the Incredible Hulk Hogan and his lovely manager Elizabeth and whoa (Liz is in a skimpy outfit) ummm... Hogan: See I told you he'd like it haha... Gene: You do realize that Randy Savage is on his way back here? Hogan: Pff give me a break brother. I saw that match, he got lucky and he'll never be the same again after that one hah. Gene: Now this outfit is you know what this is between you and the Macho Man, I don't want to even be here honestly. Hogan: No it's not, this is about Ric Flair. Who does this JJ Dillion guy think he is? Suddenly the Macho Man starts shouting nearby and Hogan looks around and wonders where he is. Randy jumps in and grabs a steel object attacking Hogan right across the face. Randy goes nuts as WWF Officials stop him. Hogan is out of it on the floor as Elizabeth cries out for Randy. Gene: I can't believe this folks we gotta go to the next match! __________________________________________ King Hercules vs. Ricky "the Dragon" Steamboat for the King's CrownA classic match between these two though no Bobby Heenan with Hercules, Steamboat gets the early advantage, but Hercules overpowers him during the match. Later on Ricky Steamboat manages to hit a crossbody from the top rope for the roll up and win. Winner: Ricky "the Dragon" Steamboat via pinfall and NEW King of the WWFThe crowd goes wild as Ricky celebrates with the crown held up high. Gorilla is already calling him "the Dragon King". __________________________________________ Gene: My goodness what a night it has been Hulk Hogan is back in his dressing room and this doesn't look good for the challenger for the World Heavyweight Championship later tonight when he faces Ric Flair... Heenan: (gets in) I can't believe I missed the match! I can't believe all of this! I won't I just refuse to stay behind for Rick Rude's title match. I can't believe all of this! Don Muraco and Harley Race are back with jackets on looking like they were drinking. Heenan: How did you guys get back in? Muraco: Please take us back we'll make things right. Heenan: What? Race: Please! We're friends now! (they hug though they didnt' really want too) Heenan: This is a madhouse I'm outta here! (Race and Muraco follow him pleading for him to take them back) Gene: It just seems that way! __________________________________________ TO BE CONTINUED

Wrestlemania V PART 3 of 3 Rick Rude (w/Heenan) (c) vs. Jake "the Snake" Roberts (w/Cheryl Roberts) in a Snake Pit match for the WWF Intercontinental ChampionshipA "pit" with snakes is set up in one corner of the ring. The objective of the match is to toss the opponent into the pit and the referee does a three count, the gimmicky rules are announced by Howard Finkel. According to a shoot from Jake Roberts, snake handlers used de-vemonized live snakes and mostly rubber snakes placing them in the pit even though the camera made it seem the pit was something out of a Raiders of the Ark movie. Jake "the Snake" Roberts with his wife Cheryl Roberts gets into the ring first and takes out Damien, placing him into the pit though Jesse says that's unfair. Two snake handlers will make sure the snakes don't get loose on the outside. Rick Rude walks out with a limping Bobby Heenan. Rude passes the Intercontinental title to the referee and the match begins. Early in the match Roberts tosses Rude into the pit but Rude jumps out in time. Later in the match, Rude gets the Rude Awakening and drags Roberts towards the pit. Rude shows fear of the snakes but decides to slam him into it, but Roberts counters with a DDT into the pit itself and Damien climbs over Rude as the referee does a three count for the win. Winner: Jake "the Snake" Roberts via pit, and NEW WWF Intercontinental Champion(Note I know the image is another title but it's the only kind I could find close enough) The snake handlers get Rude out of the pit as Heenan is shouting at them. Rude is taken out by a stretcher with Heenan having his head down in disappointment. Cheryl makes her final appearance as she celebrates Jake's title win in the ring. __________________________________________ Hacksaw Jim Duggan vs. Haku in Singles competition Heenan doesn't show up with Haku. Jim Duggan gets into the ring and Haku gets the early advantage. Duggan later beats down on Haku before Heenan finally gets to ringside. Haku gets a savate kick in, but Duggan counters it and manages a standing clothesline for the pin, but Haku's foot was on the rope. Duggan thinks he won till Haku gets the tongan death grip submission and Duggan is out cold for the win. Winner: Haku via submission.
Heenan celebrates with Haku in the ring. __________________________________________ Gene: With me at this time is the one and only Rowdy Roddy Piper who is moments away from his tag team match but where is Andre? Piper: Andre is in the back ha you know you gotta make sure your custom sized gear is all in shape for a giant of a man ha.. Gene: How will you be ready to face off against the likes of Ted Dibiase and Big John Studd who claims to be the real Giant of professional wrestling? Piper: Ha Ted Dibiase you know I've never faced him in the ring so I can't say how it'll be like ha and Big John is a big man surely but Andre is the bigger giant ha and it's gonna take a whole lot more than bucks and giants to bring me down. Gene: What will you do after this match is over? Piper: Go back to hollywood ha or maybe continue on a wrestling career ha we'll have to see how it goes tonight because it's true I haven't been in the ring in two years, but you don't need to be out of shape to know how to beat a man and damn it I know how to do just that! Gene: What a match this is going to be back to you Gorilla! __________________________________________ Andre the Giant & Rowdy Roddy Piper vs. Ted Dibiase & Big John Studd (w/Virgil & Sherri) in a Tag team matchTed Dibiase's theme plays and he walks out with Studd, Virgil and the new Ladies World Champion, Sensational Sherri. Roddy Piper's theme plays and out he comes with Andre the Giant. Both men are in the ring. The two tag teams argue with each other on who should go first. Dibiase and Piper go at it first. The crowd is into it as they grapple and Piper goes off on Dibiase with jabs and scratches and eye raking. Piper makes the tag to Andre who finally gets his hand on Dibiase and lifts him with a chokehold and drops him to the corner for Dibiase to make the tag. Studd is in and he lands punches on Andre, but Andre manages to counter him and land punches and chops. He tags in Piper as Piper goes on the offensive on Studd as he manages to toss him over the ropes as Studd is stunned and can't believe Piper did that. Later in the match even as Sherri and Virgil tried to interfere, all four men end up in the ring. Dibiase gets the Million Dollar Dream on Piper, but Andre manages to bodyslam Studd who is out cold. Andre headbutts Dibiase from behind and lands his suplex finisher for the pin and win. Winner: Andre the Giant & Rowdy Roddy Piper via pinfall__________________________________________ Gene: I'm here outside of the dressing room of the Incredible Hulk Hogan to try to get a word about his upcoming match but it seems that Hulk Hogan doesn't want to talk. The match is soon to begin and I've got word that Randy Savage has been held by security and Miss Elizabeth is nowhere to be found...wait the door is opening. Hulk: (his head bandaged) Get in man...get in... Gene: Hulkster what in the world is going on? Hulk: You won't believe it, it's all true, but I got a plan, you trust me right? Gene: Trust is earned I mean look.... Hulk: Get that camera guy out of here.... Gene: Okay? (stays behind) __________________________________________ The "Nature Boy" Ric Flair (w/J.J Dillon) (c) vs. The "Incredible" Hulk Hogan for the WWF World Heavyweight Championship in a No DQ and No Countout match.
Ric Flair's theme is played and he comes out with J.J Dillon. Flair gets in the ring, displaying the World title for the crowd who are waiting. Gorilla says to Jesse that the champion should be out last and Jesse says that finally Gorilla agrees with him about the rules. Next Hulk Hogan comes out without Elizabeth upset and gets in the ring, posing for those who give him the most heat. He rips his shirt and stands face to face with Flair. Hogan shoves Flair, Flair shoves him back, Hogan knocks him down with a shoulderblock, but Flair doesn't sell it and is up again as Hogan is surprised. Flair starts to strut and shouts Wooo along with the crowd. Hogan punches him, Flair blocks and lands constant chops as Hogan gets to the corner. Flair whips Hogan to the next corner and goes for a clothesline only to be met with a boot. Hogan goes for a quick pin at two. Hogan gets Flair up, but Flair counters with an armlock and chinlock, as Hogan reverses and gets an armlock on Flair and shoves him. Flair goes for the offensive, but Hogan blocks with punches. Flair counters with a german suplex. Hogan is back up as Flair hits a high knee kick into Hogan as Hogan backs into a corner. Flair chops away with the crowd counting. Flair gets to the top for the ten punch, but Hogan at ease drops him to the outside. Hogan stands in the middle shaking his head. He starts to shout at JJ Dillon about a "takeover". Dillion smiles. Flair is back in and they grapple, Flair lands kicks and works on Hogan's legs. He does a shinbreaker and goes for the figure-four early on. He locks it on but Hogan breaks at the ropes. The Brainbusters walk out and stand beside Dillon. Even Gorilla says that it's strange that they're out here. Hogan tolls to the outside as Flair follows him. They land punches and go at it till Barry Windham suddenly makes an apperance from the crowd (Note: Windham returned to the WWF in June, but in this timeline he joins early and in '88 was the fourth Horsemen in NWA). Jesse says he definitely knows who that is and that's Barry Windham from the former WWF Tag Team Champions the US Express. Gorilla says he's one of the original "Four" along with Flair and the Brainbusters. Hulk Hogan smashes Flair into the apron and whips him to the railings where Windham climbs over looks at Flair and starts to brawl it out with Hogan. Hogan is caught by surprise as Windham smashes his head to the ringpost and bodyslams Hogan unto the steel steps. Hogan is badly hurt and his bandage is opened as Windham starts hugging it out with the Brainbusters and Dillon and they uphold the "four horsemen" sign. Jesse says they really are trying to take over the WWF. Flair starts to attack Hogan who is laying on the steps. He gets Hogan back into the ring as Flair gets in. Flair goes for the figure-four leglock and locks it in place as Hogan is struggling to hang on. Suddenly Bobby Heenan walks out and calls for Rick Rude, Haku, Hercules, Terry Taylor, Harley Race, Don Muraco who all come running down to ringside as the Brainbusters, Dillon and Windham get to the otherside. Hogan is almost ready to submit but uses his strength to reverse it and Flair is in pain as he breaks the hold. Flair is up and lands a knee drop. Hogan gets to a corner as Flair starts to chop, but Hogan lands punches and clotheslines him to the outside. The crowd are distracted with the outside. The Heenan family start attacking the Brainbusters and Windham and it's an all out war. WWF Officials and referees start running out and they try to break it. The referee demands they all leave to the back. Hogan follows Flair and there brawling it on the outside. Flair climbs the apron as Hogan follows Flair kicks him and manages to suplex Hogan back into the ring. Flair lands an atomic drop, and bulldogs Hogan to the mat for the pin to two. Flair starts to go for the legs again, but Hogan chokes him and lifts him up in the air with his strength he literally throws him into a corner from near the middle of the ring showing Hogan's immense strength. Hogan lands a clothesline in the corner and whips Flair to the ropes for the big boot. Hogan goes for the legdrop, but Flair rolls out of the way. Hogan grabs a hold of Flair for a bodyslam, but Flair hits him with a lowblow which Gorilla says is legal in this match. Flair gets Hogan down for another figure four only for Hogan to grab Flair's hair and turn the move into a small package for the pin and win. Winner: The Incredible Hulk Hogan via pinfall and NEW WWF World Heavyweight Champion. Flair can't believe it and gets frustrated. Hulk Hogan becomes the first three-time World champion in WWF history. Hogan celebrates with the belt and some fans even cheer him. Flair gets angry and starts attacking Hogan. Flair locks the figure-four and keeps it on for a good three minutes! Referees and whatever is left of WWF Officials try to break the hold. Flair finally breaks it and Hogan is out cold completely with blood dripping down. __________________________________________ Gene: Thank goodness for Trump Plaza security who have done a great job with breaking up the backstage fight as it was going on. And now what we've seen was one of the most anticipated matches in history go down in infamy. I know Hulk Hogan for many years, and yes he turned on his fans a big mistake I must say and his actions these past few months are unjustifiable, but he never turned against the WWF. The WWF stands for professional wrestling and o my goodness it's the Nature Boy himself (walks in). Flair: Wooo! Hulk Hogan! You may have won the match, but you'll never win the war! Gene: Ric Flair this is a different side of you I can't believe you would do this to Hulk Hogan and wait a minute I'm getting word in my earpiece here that Hulk Hogan is in critical condition as he has suffered a concussion and his leg is badly injured and may even need to go through surgery. Flair: Look at this, look at me and what I've done Wooo!! In just months after I came to the WWF I climbed to the top won the World title and faced Hulk Hogan. You don't need to win or lose against Hulk Hogan, just being able to main event Wrestlemania with him was good enough for me because I am number one and I made sure that I would stay number one Wooo! As Hulk Hogan the WWF's greatest wrestler is done I've ended his career I broke his legs! And with the Four Horsemen together again (Vince can now use the name, but not the original logos etc), Woo! We're going to take over the WWF! Gene: Are you kidding me? So it's all true you're here for this reason! Flair: No one could get rid of us, no contracts or floozy outfits are going to get rid of us! No money in the world will make us leave because I'm already rich, the Brainbusters are as tough as they come and Barry Windham Wooo!! I knew JJ Dillon would bring him in and Barry is back baby! Gene: I can't believe it this night has been just one of the wildest nights of my career here and Ric Flair I gotta say I hope someone will stop you four. Flair: (grabs a hold of Gene) Wooo! It ain't gonna be easy Hulkamania is dead! Whose gonna stop me and the Four Horsemen now! Wooo!!! Gorilla: (on commentary) I don't know what to say. Jesse: I can't believe this, as much as I wanted beat up Hulk Hogan I can't believe that the Four Horsemen planned this night all along. They wanted to embarrass the WWF, they wanted to rid of the top bill, the Incredible Hulk Hogan and they did just that. Gorilla: That's correct and hopefully we'll hear about Hulk Hogan's condition but it doesn't sound good he could be out for a long time or for good for all we know.

WWF Prime Time Wrestling April 10th, 1989 Hosts: Gorilla Monsoon and Rowdy Roddy Piper Post-Wrestlemania SpecialGorilla: Folks we have got a lot to cover tonight and tonight my guest host is the Rowdy One! Piper: It's great to behere ha. Gorilla: But first we want to show you what transpired after Wrestlemania V went off the air with Bobby Heenan and Mean Gene Okerlund. And we'll be talking about some exclusive footage which will be available next month on Coliseum Home Video when it's out on tape and more on Wrestlemania V. _______________________________________ Wrestlemania V Interview with Mean Gene and Bobby Heenan: Gene: What a night it has been the Incredible Hulk Hogan won the WWF Heavyweight Championship for a third-time tonight, but Ric Flair has seriously injured the Hulkster. With me at this time is Bobby "the Brain" Heenan's reaction but first I got to ask you brought the Heenan family down the aisle tonight to fight with the Horsemen what was that all about? Heenan: When I saw those bafoons out there at ringside I just knew exactly what they wanted to do. As much as I wanted to see the end of Hulk Hogan's career for a long time, it should never end like this and I wanted to teach these fools a lesson. Gene: But it didn't end well as Ric Flair got what he wanted out of it all. Heenan: I'm going to get the best doctors, I'm going to get the best out there to make sure Hulk Hogan's back on his feet because he is the biggest star in WWF history I got to admit... Gene: Now hold on just a minute are you saying you want to manage the Hulkster? Heenan: If he lets me yes, I need fresh faces and the Incredible One needs my guidance and support. And Ric Flair and the so called Four Henchmen... Gene: I think it's Horsemen... Heenan: No the Four Henchmen are going to pay for what they did to Hulk Hogan and the WWF I promise you that! _______________________________________ Piper: Man the Four Henchmen I kind of like that name. Who would've thought that Ric Flair really wanted to do some damage in the WWF and boy did he do it with Hogan. I don't know if I should sympatize with the Hulkster or feel good about it, no idea. Gorilla: Well we have Jack Tunney the WWF President standing by regarding Wrestlemania V and the main event: Jack Tunney Statement: As Wrestlemania V will go down as a record-breaking pay-per-view event including the most anticipated match in history, with the result as being unanimous in that the Incredible Hulk Hogan did in fact pin the Nature Boy Ric Flair to become the WWF World Heavyweight Champion for a third-time. However, due to the actions of Ric Flair who kept the figure-four leglock on for over three minutes after the match ended, we have no choice but to fine Ric Flair for his action.
On the other hand a rematch between the two competitors seems to be an impossibility at this time. I have discussed with doctors about Hulk Hogan's condition and have discovered that he will need several months off before he could heel from his leg injury. Therefore I have no choice but to strip the Incredible Hulk Hogan of the WWF World Heavyweight Championship ineffect immediately. I will be making a decision in the near future on the vacancy of the World title and its status so that we may determine who will go down as the next WWF World Heavyweight Champion. Thank you.Gorilla: There you have it folks, Hulk Hogan is no longer the WWF World Heavyweight Champion. Piper: I think this is exactly what Ric Flair wanted. If he won the match, it was a win, if he lost it was a win for him too. I mean think about it, he practically ended Hulk Hogan's career, humiliated the WWF and now the World title is vacant and I wouldn't be surprised if he tries to go after it again ha. Gorilla: I'm sure there will be many competitors who will want a shot at championship gold, but the question is what will Jack Tunney do about this? Will it be a tournament, will be a match between the top two competitors? It's going to be a tough one. Piper: If it's a tournament, count me in if anything. Gorilla: You would want a shot? Piper: Actually I would want to make sure that Ric Flair doesn't get a chance. After two years I come to the WWF in such a wacky state, I can't believe he's shaken its foundations and I would love to win the World title no doubt. Gorilla: That would be something!

WWF Prime Time Wrestling May 1st, 1989 Host: Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby "the Brain" Heenan
Jack Tunney Statement about the WWF World Heavyweight Championship As you may already know, the World Wrestling Federation Heavyweight Championship has been vacant since Wrestlemania V after the Incredible Hulk Hogan suffered a possible career ending injury and after lengthy discussions with WWF Officials, we have come up with a solution to determine who would become the next WWF World Heavyweight Champion. The names of these top sixteen competitors where one winner will become the undisputed World Heavyweight Champion, will be revealed soon. As for the Nature Boy Ric Flair, initially we decided not to give him a chance, but after an appeal by his manager J.J Dillion was sent to us, we may allow him to compete in this tournament. Thank you. Matches:

Piper bodyslams him and goes for a chinlock and armlock, but Dibiase counters with his own holds, and whips Piper to the ropes for a scoopslam. Dibiase starts to work on the legs, but Piper is up with several punches and tosses Dibiase to the outside. Piper goes after Dibiase but Virgil tries to stop him. Piper knocks out Virgil who falls hard on the concrete. Sherri grabs a hold of her purse and swings it for Piper to duck and he grabs a hold of the purse and shoves Dibiase into Sherri. He opens the purse to reveal a whole load of cash and starts to throw it to the crowd. Dibiase gets angry and starts to punch Piper and rams his head on the steel steps. Ric Flair walks out this time with none other than Miss Elizabeth as he was out with J.J Dillon early on. Hogan says what the heck, and even Jesse says that the Macho Man is probably watching. I'm done with her. ________________________________________________________________ A red carpet gets laid out on the aisle as WWF Officials walk in and President Jack Tunney makes his way out with the WWF World Heavyweight Championship belt. Howard Finkel made the introduction with Jack Tunney and Tunney gets on the mic. I would first of all like to say congratulations to the top sixteen competitors who have worked very hard in the WWF to make it into the Tournament and wish those who have not qualified to the finals, the best of luck in their future goals, however as we all know there must be one winner as the Finals are gearing up shortly between Rowdy Roddy Piper and the Nature Boy Ric Flair. The winner will receive this title belt and become the next Undisputed WWF World Heavyweight Champion. I would like to request the Incredible Hulk Hogan who is at the announce table to present this World title belt to whomever will be the winner tonight. Thank you. ________________________________________________________________ Gene with Elizabeth: Gene: With me at this time is the lovely Miss Elizabeth and I've got to ask you it's come to all of us as a shock that you are here with the Nature Boy Ric Flair. Liz: I've been with Ric since Wrestlemania as I know he's the only one I've felt safe with ever since...well.... Gene: And what about the Macho Man? I thought he was your man? Liz: I ....(gets sad) I... Flair: (walks in) Wooo!!! The Nature Boy is in the finals! Wooo! Elizabeth was with me and has been at my mansion since Wrestlemania because she's never felt safe and I've made sure she was safe and will always make sure she stays safe. A man like you Macho Man sold Elizabeth that's right you sold Elizabeth to a cruel human being named Hulk Hogan.... Gene: Now that's not fair, it was a challenge... Flair: Miss Elizabeth is not for sale! Wooo!! I'm ready for my match come on Liz let's make some history and get that title belt around my waist again wooo!! Gene: My goodness back to you Gorilla. ________________________________________________________________ Rowdy Roddy Piper vs. The "Nature Boy" Ric Flair (w/Elizabeth) for the vacant Undisputed WWF World Heavyweight ChampionshipRoddy Piper is out to a big pop. Ric Flair is out next, walks out with a strut as Elizabeth follows him from behind and grabs his arm as they walk down the aisle. Gorilla says he can't believe what he's seeing and Jesse says he always knew who Elizabeth was and that she's with the wrong man. Piper and Ric Flair are face to face as Hogan stays silent for the early part of the match. They grapple and Piper starts landings fists and chops, Flair exchanges them back. Piper lands more punches and takes off his kilt. He tosses it over Flair and starts land jabs and clotheslines him to the outside. Flair is embarrased and gets back in. Piper gets a hip toss and whips Flair to a corner. The Three other Horsemen and Dillon walk down the aisle to show support for Flair. Piper notices and talks trash till Flair gets teh advantage and lands several chops and a piledriver for the pin to two. Flair gets to the top rope and lands a flying clothesline for the pin to two. He bodyslams Piper and on the second rope knee drops Piper's right leg. Flair works on the leg and goes for a shinbreaker, Piper counters and starts landing chops and jabs. Piper goes nuts on the jabs to the point that Flair drops to the outside. The Four Horsemen regroup as Elizabeth watches. Hogan finally says something to Elizabeth and he stands up. Elizabeth gets closer and slaps Hogan right across the face as Gorilla and Jesse both laugh. Hogan sits back down and says nothing. Flair is back in and Piper starts arguing with the referee about there being too many guys out here. Flair and Piper go at it back and forth with jabs or chops, but Flair manages to get Piper into a corner for the Horsemen to beat up on him. The referee notices and kicks everyone out except Elizabeth as the fans start cheering. Flair is alone with Liz on the outside, but he starts landing punches and kicks on Piper even going for a DDT and pin to two. Flair goes for the figure-four leglock and locks it on. Piper struggles and finally reverses it. Flair is up and works on the legs, but Piper kicks him face first to the turnbuckle and pulls down his tights. Flair is embarrassed as the fans laugh. Piper clotheslines him as Flair puts it back on. Piper lands jabs and a suplex. Piper gets to a second rope for a bulldog and pin to two. Piper goes for the sleeper hold finisher and locks it on. Flair is outcold but has his hands up at two. Gorilla can't believe that Flair is the first one ever to get out of Piper's sleeper like that. Flair is up and counters Piper, hits the ropes for a high knee kick but accidentally knocks the referee down. Flair gets the shinbreaker and goes for the figure-four again, but Piper gives him a hard time till suddenly Hulk Hogan grabs one of his crutches and runs into the ring very quickly as Gorilla and Jesse are both in shock. Hogan rams the crutch into Flair's back really hard it breaks. Flair is down as the crowd is on their feet. Piper rolls over him as Hogan grabs the referee to wake him up for the pin and win. Winner: Rowdy Roddy Piper via pinfall and NEW Undisputed WWF World Heavyweight Champion(Note: I know the image is the IC title, but we can imagine it being the World title) Hulk Hogan runs back outside to grab the World title belt and presents it to Roddy Piper. Piper is still dazed as Hogan leaves the ring and Piper wonders what is going on with Hogan leaving and his crutch in pieces. Roddy looks around and smiles as he lifts the belt high up and goes to the top rope to display it. The fans are going wild. Flair is badly hurt as he rolls to the outside. Liz tries to help him as WWF Officials help to bring him to the back. Jesse: Hulk Hogan was fine! That guy was fine all along what the heck! Gorilla: I can't believe it myself Jess! Well this one is going down the history books as the Rowdy One is now the new Undisputed WWF World Heavyweight Champion, what a night!

Piper wins the tournament to become WWF Champion I mean in part due to Hogan's interference but at the same time Flair not only had Liz in his corner he had JJ Dillon, the WWF Tag Team Champions Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard and he had Barry Windham the whole Horsemen group out there with him helping him out and Flair still failed he still lost well Hogan I know he had to interfere because Hogan I am sure if he wanted anyone to become WWF Champion he wanted it to be Piper instead of Flair and why? Because Hulk Hogan fears Ric Flair that's why because Flair put Hogan on the shelf forcing him to vacate that title and this was Hogan's payback his revenge on Flair but I still cannot believe Miss Elizabeth's heel turn and her aligning herself with Ric Flair of all people I mean I thought that she was Hogan's manager and now she's Flair's I mean she jumps from guy to guy first it was Macho and then Hogan and then Flair I mean I wonder what Savage will have to say about Elizabeth aligning herself with Flair? I know Hogan is done with her but with Hogan helping Piper out in order to become WWF Champion I wonder if this means Hogan has turned back into a babyface?
