NBC's Friday Night Videos March 20th, 1986 Celebrity Hosts: WWF personalities Jesse Ventura, Gene Okerlund, Andre the Giant and Bobby HeenanNote: For those who don't know this was NBC's attempt since 1983 to compete with MTV. Jesse: What a great line up of music we got on this show, and I got with me here the eighth wonder and Heavyweight Champion of the World, Andre the Giant along with his manager Bobby "the Brain" Heenan... Gene: Don't forget about me. I'm WWF personality Gene Okerlund. Jesse: I have no idea why Mean Gene is here, but let's take a look at the first video here... [Music Video] Gene: That was a great video don't you think Brain? Heenan: It's great but what will also be great is when Andre the Giant beats up on Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania III on March 29th, 1987. Gene: I got to ask Andre, how will you handle a man who many say was never truly beaten without someone cheating. Heenan: You want to speak to Andre you speak to me. And to speak to me you got to watch this first.... [Music Video] Jesse: I got a question Bobby Heenan, when Andre the Giant defeats Hulk Hogan, is there going to be an afterparty? Heenan: Are you kidding me? It's going to be the party of a lifetime because when Hogan is defeated Hulkamania will die with him and he'll be lower than the undercard, he'll be a nobody and we'll be partying it out after Wrestlemania III. Jesse: We'll have more after this... [Music Video] Gene: I know how the Brain wants to continue speaking for Andre but I want to ask Andre myself. Hulk Hogan says he's ready for you that he wants to take you on and I know for a fact that he's been hitting the gym more than ever to prepare for this match (Andre the whole time has a cold stare at the camera)...and how will you (suddenly Andre starts squeezing out Gene). Heenan: You ask too many questions this is not how this works and Andre will defeat Hulk Hogan because he's fifteen years undefeated, he's 7 foot 5 500 plus pounds and the greatest of all time. He's the World Heavyweight Champion so Hulk Hogan can train all he wants he won't win because he's the one who laughed at Andre, mistreated him, talked behind his back not once did he ever ask Andre for a title shot when Hulk Hogan was champion, not once. [Music Video] Jesse: I got to ask about Saturday Night's Main Event because all this talk is making me want to get back in the ring and beat up Hogan for you, but he needs to be saved for Andre. But during that match (highlights shown of the Battle Royal) Andre the Giant tossed the first one out of the ring of the battle royal, threw Hulk Hogan over the ropes like Hulk Hogan was a nobody. (Andre finally let's go of Gene who is grasping for air) Heenan: And that's only a sample of what's to come at Wrestlemania III. Jesse: I can't wait for it! [Music Video] Gene: As I try to catch my breath I want to ask you Bobby Heenan...I want to ask (tries to get the mic to Heenan but Andre doesn't let him as Gene can't get around him)... Heenan: You need to keep your mouth shut.

WWF Wrestling Challenge March 23rd, 1987 Hosts: Gorilla Monsoon and Lord Alfred HayesThe Snake Pit with Hulk Hogan: Jake: In all my years I've never seen such a match up between two titans, two of the biggest Superstars of professional wrestling, and we'll all get to witness it going down at the Pontiac Silverdome on March 29th, when Hulk Hogan challenges the World Heavyweight Champion Andre the Giant...perhaps the biggest match in history. So I want to bring out Hulk Hogan.... Hogan: (comes out) You know something Jake the Snake dude, ever since the World title was taken away from me from that nasty weasel Bobby Heenan, ever since than I thought a man like Andre the Giant was the right man to carry the World title to newer heights, to cleanse it to purify the title so that one day just one day when Andre retires years from now, I would get it back. But after seeing Andre with weasel man I just knew I had to do it. I have to fight I have to do this man... Jake: But what about all the doubters, all the people who've been telling me that there is no way Hulk Hogan can do it the man's 7 foot 5, 500 plus pounds the undefeated the unbeatable, just how Hulk I got to know how will you do it? Hogan: I don't know if I could beat Andre, I don't know if I could lift him up, I don't know how I'll bring him down I don't even know if he could fall...but how could I know how would I know if I never tried man, and as long as I try and push my self than I will know I will know his limits and my own. Jake: But what about what happened at Saturday Night's Main Event, you were the first one out of that battle royal and you're not one easy guy to throw out believe me and Andre did it so quickly. Hogan: That's why I got to know if I could do it if I could beat him in the middle of the ring so at Wrestlemania III one of his will walk away with the World Heavyweight Championship...but Jake dude I won't make it easy for him for one bit. Jake: I don't doubt that ladies and gentlemen Hulk Hogan (Hogan poses), best of luck Hulkster! Matches:Hillbilly Jim def. Dino Bravo via Countout
Sivi Afi def. jobber via pinfall
Demolition (w/Mr. Fuji) def. jobbers via pinfall

Hogan: I can just feel the energy at the Silverdome, I can feel it inside me and all the Hulksters out there brother who feel it and that's what I need because when it's all set and done when I win the World title brother Hulkamania will run wilder than ever before so Andre say goodbye to that belt of yours, it's going back to where it really belongs (poses). ________________________________________________ King Harley Race (w/Heenan) vs. Hillbilly Jim (w/Haiti Kid & Little Beaver) in a Loser Must Bow matchDuring the match from time to time the Haiti Kid and Little Beaver interfere helping Jim get the upper hand. Hogan starts to get angry and the bell rings to a huge pop. Hulk walks slowly towards Andre and he's Hulking up already. Hogan tears his shirt in front of Andre and tosses it aside. They're eye to eye as Andre has a grin and Hogan talks trash. Andre makes the first punch, but Hogan blocks and counters with punches. Hogan hits the ropes for a clothesline but Andre doesn't move. WWF Prime Time Wrestling April 6th, 1987 Hosts: Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby "the Brain" Heenan
Post-Wrestlemania 3 Report and Highlights Gorilla: What a Wrestlemania III that was Brain and of course the main event in which Hulk Hogan defeated the World Heavyweight Champion, Andre the Giant with the bodyslam and legdrop to become the New Heavyweight Champion of the World (Heenan is silent)...well Brain you've been quite, I want to know how you feel about Andre's World title loss? Heenan: (shakes head) There is nothing to say. Gorilla: You said that Wrestlemania was going to be the end of Hulkamania, but now it's stronger than ever (laughs). Look at how disappointed you were look at this image after Andre lost the World title: Heenan: (gets angry) you can laugh all you want because Andre the Giant is not done, like I told you before Andre is retraining in the gym, working out and getting himself back in shape. Hulk Hogan only won by a fluke, watch the whole match and see it when it comes out on Coliseum Home Video and watch how Andre had conquered Hulk Hogan. Hogan got lucky, that's all it is. Gorilla: Well folks the Brain here invited me to see Andre getting ready for a rematch and I wasn't surprised at all with what we saw...let's roll the footage: Gorilla and Heenan are in a forest and Heenan gives Gorilla a bunch of "bananas", while Gorilla is asking where the gym is. They start following trails of bananas and Heenan said they're for the Gorilla because he likes bananas. Heenan runs away from the forest leaving Gorilla on his own with the cameraman. Gorilla: Is that how you treat a friend Brain? I still consider you a friend even if we have our disagreements. Heenan: You're the one laughing at me, but you won't be laughing when Andre returns and gets the World title back to where it belongs. Perhaps Andre underestimated Hulk Hogan, it happens to veterans, but he won't this time he never will and he'll beat him fair and square. Gorilla: Of course Andre underestimated the Hulkster heck he was trying to get the DQ and Countout victory so that he could keep the World title! Heenan: No he was just testing Hulk, just testing him. Gorilla: O give me a break. Matches: Blackjack Mulligan def. Tiger Chung Lee via pinfall

But this isn't about Wrestlemania anymore, this is about my man, Butch Reed the next Heavyweight contender for the World title. Reed: I want Hogan and I'm gonna get him. I'm gonna beat all the yellow and red out of him to the point that you won't even know who he is. Jake: After seeing how Hulk Hogan body-slammed Andre the Giant to become the WWF World Heavyweight Champion a second time, it got me thinking about how many guys in the back want a title shot. One of these guys is the "Natural" Butch Reed who thinks he could just make it to the top just with the snap of his finger (Slick and Reed walk out). Well here they come. Reed: What did you say boy? Jake: I need to be honest, there are a lot of guys in the back who want a World Heavyweight title shot, and I'm sure Andre the Giant wants a rematch, but like I said I got to be honest and I don't think Butch Reed is the number one contender. Slick: Andre the Giant can have his rematch, but until he asks for one, my man here the Natural Butch Reed has what it takes to take on Hulk Hogan. Reed: That's right I'm coming for you Hulk Hogan boy. Jake: (laughs) Now come on you are probably not even in the top 10.... Reed: (is about to hit Jake, but Slick stops him) You got a lot of guts boy... Slick: Now now we don't need any trouble here Snake man, (laughs) all we're asking is for a chance a shot at the gold, is there anything wrong with that? Jake: Well you do got a point but we'll have to hear it from the Hulkster himself. Slick: My man Butch Reed is ready more than ready to take on the champ... Reed: I've been ready my whole life, I've been fighting since day one and yes I do deserve to be at the top because only the best can be at the top boy! I'll prove it to Hulk Hogan I'll prove it to the world when I beat him bloody. Jake: Well good luck with that.

I'm talking about Hulk Hogan! Hogan: (comes out) Well you know something Jake the Snake dude, Wrestlemania III was the icing on the cake for Hulkamania, as all the Hulksters saw it, they saw how one could not only defy odds but do the impossible brother as I lifted the Giant over my head brother and slammed him to the mat my whole world has changed I can see more clearly with wide eyes opened! Jake: Well now that you're the Heavyweight Champion of the World and congratulations on that victory, there are a lot of contenders wanting a shot at championship gold. I want to first ask would you accept a rematch with Andre the Giant? Hogan: Brother I know I can beat him I know it now, and yes I would accept a rematch. Jake: What a match that would be, but I know someone else who wants one so badly, though I don't think they're deserving of a shot, but the doctor of style Slick thinks otherwise...the Natural Butch Reed as issued out a challenge to you Hulk... Hogan: O I'll take him on I'll take on anyone because I could just feel the energy, I'm stronger than ever before and if Butch Reed thinks he can take on the Hulkster, let him think so brother because when I'm done with him, he'll be sorry he ever tried to mess with me.

Saturday Night's Main Event May 2nd, 1987 Edmund P.J Center, Notre Dame, Indiana Hosts: Vince McMahon and Jesse "the Body" Ventura Ricky "the Dragon" Steamboat (c) def. Hercules (w/Heenan) via pinfall to retain the WWF Intercontinental Championship
The Bulldogs (w/Lou Albano) def. The Islanders (w/Heenan) in a Two out of three falls match to become the No.1 Contender for the WWF Tag Team Championships. During the match Sivi Afi comes out to help the Islanders and steals the Bulldogs dog "Matilda". Despite Davey going after him, Junkyard Dog manages to get the last fall. Davey gets the dog back, but the Islanders beat up on him and steal it again (this happened in December but happens here in the timeline early on). Randy "Macho Man" Savage (w/Elizabeth) def. Kamala the Ugandan Giant (w/Kimchee) via pinfall. A big win for Randy Savage who is slowly becoming a face as he managed to land the elbow drop from the top for the win. ________________________________________ Hulk Hogan (c) vs. The "Natural" Butch Reed (w/Slick) for the WWF World Heavyweight Championship
Butch Reed walks out with Slick and gets in the ring. The Hulkster comes out to a big pop for his first title defense since Wrestlemania. They grapple and Reed manages to push the Hulkster closer to a corner. Hulk can't believe it and they grapple again, but Hogan manages to push him to a corner fast and he goes for a clothesline, but Reed ducks and starts landing punches and whips Hogan to a corner. Reed bodyslams Hulk and starts to taunt the fans. Reed lands a backbreaker and pin to two. He goes for the piledriver, but Hulk counters and drops him. Hogan lands punches and whips him to a corner for the clothesline. Hulk does the ten punch from the top as Reed falls face first on the mat. Slick tries to get in the ring and Hogan tosses him in the ring. The referee tries to stop him Hulk threatens to punch Slick, but Reed does a knee kick on Hogan's back. Slick rolls out. Reed lands punches and does a short-arm clothesline for the pin to two. Reed whips Hogan to the ropes for a scoop slam and pin to two. Reed gets frustrated and finally lands the Spike Piledriver for the pin. Hogan kicks out at two and starts to Hulk up, he does the three punch, big boot and legdrop for the pin and win. Winner: Hulk Hogan via pinfall to retain the WWF World Heavyweight Championship________________________________________ Brutus "the Barber" Beefcake def. Adrian Adonis (w/Jimmy Hart) via sleeperhold. This marks Adonis' last match as he was fired from the WWF. In this timeline Vince kept him for this one match to push Beefcake as a babyface. It's unclear why the termination took place, it may have been that Adonis hit rock bottom and gained too much weight; not being able to perform as well. The WWF story is that he was fired for "dress code" violations (unprofessional on flights etc).

WWF Superstars of Wrestling May 30th, 1987 Hosts: Vince McMahon and Jesse "the Body" Ventura
Jesse promotes his upcoming movie "Predator" starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. Ted Dibiase is being shown again in the audience with front row seats at a recent house show where Vince says that Dibiase is interested in competing in the World Wrestling Federation. Snake Pit with King Harley Race:
Jake: You know there are some guys who can handle a high caliber match up against the Heavyweight Champion of the World, Hulk Hogan and guys who could even push Hogan to the limits and have a shot at getting the gold. One of them is a self-proclaimed King of Wrestling, a man who could very well be the next World Champion. I'm talking about Harley Race. Race: (comes out with Heenan) I'm not a self-proclaimed anything, I earn what I get I won this crown at the Wrestling Classic tournament. Jake: Alright I admit you did earn the crown, but you don't need to go prancing around like you won a world title. Heenan: The crown is bigger than you think. Jake: So why not put it on the line, because I know for a fact that Harley Race is the number one contender after Andre the Giant, for the World title. So how about we make it crown versus championship? Heenan: Harley Race doesn't need to prove he's the best because... Mr. Wonderful comes out from the back with some cheering.
Jake: Look at who we have here ladies and gentlemen Mr. Wonderful Paul Orndorff. Heenan: You have no business being out here! Paul: I have every business being out here because if you didn't betray me Heenan, if you didn't cost me the World title, I would've still been the champion of the world right now and I would've beaten Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania III. But you got greedy, you wanted a Giant who got body-slammed and humiliated, a record holding champion beaten by the Hulkster. Heenan: You got a lot of nerve, you're the one who betrayed me first, I did what I had to do. Paul: This is why if you would have me Harley Race, because like me you are one of the best in the world only with a weasel by your side (Heenan gets angry) so how about it you put your crown on the line with me I want a shot at becoming King so I could prove to Heenan that he regretted the day he doubled cross me. Race: (laughs) I'll put it on the line (Heenan disapproves) and beat you silly (leaves with Heenan). Paul: I'll like to see you try! Matches:The Islanders (w/Heenan) def.
