t was announced today that UFC Heavyweight Mark Hunt has filed a civil lawsuit against the UFC, Dana White, and his UFC 200 opponent Brock Lesnar. According to the suit, the defendants "affirmatively circumvented and obstructed fair competition for their own benefit." According to MarkHunt.TV, Hunt is suing for Lesnar’s entire $2.5 million dollar purse from the UFC 200 event plus additional money earned from the PPV. Here are a few quotes from an interview Hunt did with the website:
“Yes I am suing Lesnar and the UFC for his entire purse. Cheaters deserve nothing!”
“Before the fight, I was assuming he was cheating. Look at him. There’s no way that guy makes 265 pounds. That guy is a gimp, he’s sticking needles in his ass like the rest of these cheaters. And the thing about that is, he’s sitting here saying ‘this is a fair place.’ Well, it’s not fair. These guys are cheating and they should be in court for it. [They should] lose all of their money if they’re cheating, because if I die in there, who’s going to look after my family?”
“That’s corrupt sh*t, man. These motherf*ckers should be penalised hard. Dirty, scummy, cheating scum. That’s how that monkey won his world title. He didn’t do it by doing it clean. He did it by cheating.”
“It’s only fair that if a guy gets caught cheating, he doesn’t get paid. I’m putting my life on the line when I get inside the cage, all I’m asking for is a level playing field.”

But he also got pummeled by Valesquez and Overeem, whilst on da juice. Doubt he gets the purse and anything extra.

I mean, the guy kinda has a point. I'd be upset too.

Yeah nothing will help a case more then using a whole bunch of swear words and insults to back up a lawsuit. Brock should get that money taken away from him, but it shouldn't go to his opponent.

I mean, the guy kinda has a point. I'd be upset too. Especially since Brock is actually the third or fourth guy that got popped after fighting Mark Hunt.

Like Brock even cares. He's got Vince so wrapped around his finger, he could probably get him to pay for the whole damn thing if he really wanted to.

From a legal standpoint Hunt has a case. He was cheated and might not have lost if Lesnar was clean.
But at the same time I read this and think "Just let it go dude. Move on." For some reason it makes him seem like a desperate crybaby.
One of those weird situations where the guy is right but he should just pick his battles. Seems like he's trying to stay relevant by talking about how he lost.

I'm not gonna try and justify Lesnar's steroid use, but this reeks of sour grapes to me.

No offense to this Mark Hunt guy, but I never even heard of him until I heard he was fighting Brock Lesnar.
I watched the fight and he sucked. He looked out of shape, and slow and look like he didn't belong in an MMA style environment.

Brock thinks the rules don't apply to him and this will probably go his way also.

Hasn't done much recently, but definitely one of the architects of the sport.

I wouldn't say Mark is a pioneer in the sport, but he's one hell of a fighter. He went into kickboxing as an unpolished street fighter and managed to become a champion there. Then he crossed over to MMA and managed to get wins over top guys. He always swapped wins/losses, but stayed competitive. When the UFC bought out Pride, they didn't even really want him to come over. He could have collected checks for what his contract owed just to stay home, but got in better shape (ironic, I know, considering he's still doughy) to come earn his keep. He definitely doesn't "suck", regardless of that fight.
Anyways, while I do think Mark may be expressing his disdain a bit roughly, the incident deserves this sort of reaction in order to further evolve the punishments for cheating. Sure, a year long suspension and giving up 10% of your winnings is a seriously stiff penalty for the common fighter barely pulling in 6 figures per fight. But Brock still walked away from that fight with over $2mil, and is someone who possibly had 0 intention of fighting ever again. So he cheats, pockets a fat check, and the punishment is sort of shrugged off.
It's a slippery slope overall. You can't have stiffer rules that apply only to fighters that earn more. But at the very least, something should be in place that diverts money to whomever was opposite the cheater in the cage. If a guy missing weight rewards money to the other fighter, the same should apply to getting busted for doping. I feel Mark is doing this with that end goal in mind, considering I believe his next fight has this stipulation. That's the thing though, it shouldn't be a stipulation, it should be an in stone rule moving forward.

"if I die in there, who’s going to look after my family?” I'd say it's his own fault for risking his life in a stupidly dangerous sport. I've never understood the appeal behind boxing or MMA fighting. Why would you want to watch two people genuinely trying to hurt each other? At least in pro wrestling you know they're not trying to hurt each other, and are actually trying to protect each other. I just don't get it.
