No I got a few in mind to choose from to kick it off. He'll eventually be featured though.

Survivor Series 1989
Your Hosts- Gorilla Monsoon and Jesse Ventura We open up the show with various wrestlers giving thanks in a very memorable segment.
The Enforcers- Big Boss Man,Bad News Brown,Rick Martel and Honky Tonk Man vs The Dream Team-Dusty Rhodes,Tito Santana,Red Rooster,Brutus Beefcake- The Boss Man/Dusty feud started not long after SSlam so here's thbig climax. Our 1st elimination comes about 10 minutes in when Martel rolls up his former Strike Force partner Tito Santana who he turned on at WM V the previous April. These two would fight off and on until 1993. Still surprises me they never had a one on one PPV match. Good 5 minutes go by until our next elimination which is BNB after Boss Man accidently hits em leading to an argument and a walk off. I told you BNB is not a team player!!! It's identical to his walk out the previous year but it makes sense with his loner character. Just minutes later Brut-I would hit Honky with a high knee to send him packing. He got his revenge from their 1988 feud!! Beefcake gets another elimination a few minutes later in Rick Martel with a roll up. These two would have a brief feud after this which would lead into early 1990. Tag to the Rooster who in no time flat gets squashed by Boss Man to get sent packing. We're down to Dusty/Brutus vs The Boss Man. Boss Man doesn't last long as he gets eliminated pretty quickly after a crossbody by Rhodes. Post match Boss Man beats both survivors with his trusty nightstick. I also gotta point out the future Sapphire was shown on camera as a ''fan'' during this match at one point. Right after this she would become his manager and would last until a little after SSlam 90. Not a great match here but still not bad. Hot Chicago crowd also to boot.
King's Court- Macho King Randy Savage,Dino Bravo, Earthquake, Greg Valentine vs 4x4s- Jim Duggan,Bret Hart,Hercules and Ronnie Garvin- Earthquake replaces the Widowmaker aka Barry Windham who left the company shortly before this. Quake just made his debut around this time as he squashed Warrior during a strong man contest on an episode of Superstars in a memorable segment. Just nearly 4 minutes in we get our 1st elimination when Quake splashes Herc. A prelude to WM VI for the man with the chain. Next up to go is The Hammer after Duggan hits em with his signature 3 point stance clothesline. My favorite elimination of the match comes next as Dino Bravo eliminates Garvin with his side suplex. Good Riddance. Man I never liked Garvin. Next we get the true highlight of the match IMO which is Bret Hart vs Randy Savage. It wasn't a long sequence but man they worked so well in there with everything looking so perfect. You could tell Bret was going to be a mega star here. Savage eventually eliminates after hitting his flying elbow drop. We are down to Savage,Bravo and Quake against Duggan. doesn't looked good for the Glens Falls native. He fights strongly for a good few minutes before getting counted out after interference from Queen Sherri. Post match he clears the ring with his 2x4. Better than the opener here I thought mainly due to the Savage/Hart sequence and Ventura absolutely ripping into Duggan on commentary in something that never gets old. They also told a good story at the end with Duggan down 3 to 1.
The $ Team- Ted DiBiase,Zeus and Powers of Pain vs The Hulkamaniacs- Hulk Hogan,Jake Roberts, Demolition- Definitely the most solid SSeries team in the history of the event with the babyfaces here. You had World Champ Hogan and the Tag Champs Demo plus Jake? No brainer there. Just about 3 minutes in we get our 1st elimination when Zeus gets DQed for choking Hogan way past the 5 count. Zeus was terrible in the ring so I'm glad they got him outta there as quickly as possible. We get a good stretch for our next elimination when Ax gets the axe so to speak when Mr. Fuji trips him up allowing Warlord to hit a headbutt for the 3. Nice homage to the previous SSeries there when Fuji turned on Demo. Smash is next after Barbarian hits his signature top rope clothesline. Another stretch goes by until our next elimination which is POP as they are both Dqed for double teaming Hogan in the ring. Gotta love Ventura going nuts here as he saids the ref is protecting Hogan in a great rant. We are down to Jake/Hogan against DiBiase. Hogan tags out to Jake who goes on a little run until the money man stops his momentum and eliminates em with his falling fist drops. Love Ventura's line when Jake tries to rally Hogan''Your times done Jake take a walk!'' Hogan eventually does rally, hulks up and hits the big boot and leg for the win. Longest match of the night but with the names involved no shock there. Another decent outing but the ending was never in doubt. Ventura here to me was a big highlight of the match. His ranting was gold. Man was he great as a heel announcer.
Intermission time as we get interviews from Hogan/Beefcake( who get attacked by Zeus/Savage to hyper up the Cage match the following month) and Rude's Brood and Roddy's Rowdies. Again I love these classic interviews.
Rude's Brood- Rick Rude,Mr .Perfect, and the Fabulous Rougeaus vs Roddy's Rowdies- Roddy Piper, Jimmy Snuka and the Bushwackers- Piper and Snuka on the same team. Man how times have changed. I loved the Piper/Rude feud here as it started on PTW right before SSlam and would end by the time 1990 rolled around. Very underrated feud IMO. Jacques is the 1st to go not even 5 minutes in when Superfly hits em with his signature Superfly splash. His brother Raymond isn't far behind after Hot Rod hits em with a piledriver. Not looking good here for Team Rude. They rally back when Butch is eliminated after Perfect rolls em up. Luke isn't far behind as Rude eliminates him with his signature Rude Awakening. We are down to do Piper/ Snuka against Rude/Perfect. After a stretch both Rude/Piper are the next to go as both are counted out after brawling on the floor to keep their feud going. Perfect puts it away for the team after he eliminates Snuka soon after with the Perfect Plex. Worst match of the night but still entertaining with again Ventura being gold in the booth.
Heenan Family- Andre the Giant. Bobby Heenan, Haku and Arn Anderson vs The Ultimate Warriors- Ultimate Warrior, Jim Neidhart and The Rockers- Heenan replaces here Tully Blanchard here as he was released prior to the event after failing a drug test. Right out of the gate the heels attack Neidhart and Rockers until Warrior comes down and cleans house and in the process eliminates Andre after he falls to the floor and is counted out. Andre's health was real bad here so no surprise he was the 1st to go after doing very little. He would win the tag belts with Haku soon after this in what would be his farewell run in the WWF. Neidhart is the 1st to go from the babyface team a few minutes later as Haku hits his signature kick to the face which always looks crisp as hell. The highlight elimination is next for me as Bobby Heenan gets the fall on Marty Jannetty after a knee drop after they worked him over for a good few minutes. Heenan immediately tags out seconds later in a great bit. Gotta love The Brain!! Haku takes the fall next after the future HBK hits a crossbody from the top.We are down to Warrior/Michaels vs Heenan/Double A. Michaels is the next to go after Arn hits his always awesome looking spinebuster. Warrior rallies back however when he eliminates Arn with his Gorilla splash/Splash combo. Warrior and Heenan are left. Come on Bobby pull this one out!! Unfortunately he doesn't and is squashed just minuets later with the same combo. Surprised this went on last over the Hogan match but Warrior was on the verge of superstardom so I can understand why. Another dull match but Heenan was gold here as usual so for that this match gets a pass. Before we fade to black Warrior runs over a dazed Heenan in the aisle way. What the hell man??!!
Final Thoughts- Solid SSeries here for the most part with some dull matches but everything is at least watchable so in turn give this event a passing grade. Jesse Ventura is the MVP of this event though for me. He was great all show. If you love this era(like me) definitely give this a watch. Verdict- Recommended
Next time on the Classic Reviews we'll head back to Richfield Ohio for the inaugural SSeries 1987!
Until next time...Stay Classic and Happy New Year Humanoids!!

Great event! This is possibly my most watched event (after RR 92).
Opening match was good enough. I was always disappointed that Akeem wasn’t part of it, but on reflection he would have totally changed the dynamic of the match. I loved the consistency the WWF had with Martel and Santana. They never seemed to have an out and out feud but were tied to each other for years. Bad News taking a walk was great when I first saw it, but didn’t realise at the time they did that exact same spot the year before. I really enjoyed Honky getting beat with the High Knee. The other highlight of this match was the beating the Boss Man dished out at the end. Looked so great.
Next match was ok. I never really got Hacksaw Jim Duggan so glad his team lost. Savage v Bret was definitely the highlight of the match and also really enjoyed Earthquake in the match. Valentine aside never cared much for the rest of the wrestlers involved.
I remember being so annoyed at Hogan in this match with the three DQ’s in the match. That aside really enjoyable and Ventura’s commentary really enhanced it. I always thought it was a strange piece of booking leaving Dibiase v Hogan and Jake near the end. Kind of took away from the Hogan against the odds theme.
Match of the night next. I used to constantly rewind the entrance of Rude’s Brood. The three theme tunes were phenomenal. I would have loved to have seen the Brain Busters replace the Rougeau’s and that would have been the greatest team ever. But an excellent performance by all involved (even the Bushwhackers). Was a great build up to the following event with Rude coming down without Heenan. Loved the way that it was perfect and rude vs four and they got down to business, eliminating the Bushwhackers in quick fashion. I always wanted them to turn into a regular tag team.
I found the warriors team interview pretty entertaining. They were all totally out there. Would have preferred Tully to have been involved and have Heenan replace Andre. Haku, as always, put in a great performance. One of my all time favourites. Heenan as well was priceless in this match. The look on his face when he realised he was alone with the Warrior showed how great an entertainer he truly was.
Happy New Year to you and yours when it comes!

Great event. One of my favorite Survivor Series of all-time. I liked each match. The Bret/Macho moment was great, the crowd went wild when Bret tagged in and Macho backed off, great moment. Bret said in an interview after Savage's passing that Randy took him (Bret) by the hand and lead him to Vince's office saying that he wanted a feud with Bret, sadly, it never materialized. Your right about Jesse, he was gold, probably MVP of the night, though, I would also have to add Arn's name to that list. He did a lot of heavy lifting in the final match with Tully out and Andre eliminated so quickly. Also, in my opinion the best spinebuster I've ever seen. Also really liked the Rude/Perfect mishap in their tag match. Used it again in RR90. Great PPV all around.

I liked how earlier in the show they had Ventura bring up ''problems'' within the Heenan Family which they then followed it up in the main event with Heenan and Arn arguing towards the end of it. Great storytelling at it's finest.
And yeah I agree with Arn and his work at this event. Great stuff.

Ok Humanoids lets have a little fun. The 1st guy to get the spotlight on my upcoming gimmick retrospective lasted in the WWF from the Fall of 92 until the Winter of 93. Can you guess who it will be?
