Survivor Series Showdown 1989 
Your hosts- Gorilla Monsoon,Bobby Heenan,Roddy Piper (in studio),Vince McMahon/Jesse Ventura on commentary This is all the in studio segments of the show.Classic.
Tito Santana vs Big Boss Man- Tito is representing the ''Dream Team'' while Boss Man is representing the ''Enforcers''. Decent speed vs power match here. Tito with the win after Dusty nails the Boss Man with the nightstick behind the refs back.
We get an ''update'' segment recapping the Brain Busters losing the tag belts the prior week to Demolition.
Bushwhacker Butch vs Mr. Perfect- Butch is representing ''Roddy's Rowdies'' and Perfect is representing the ''Rude's Brood". Terrible match here that not even Perfect could save. Perfect Plex ends this one.
Control center segment with Sean Mooney!....Who?
Hercules vs ''Macho King'' Randy Savage-Savage would get that title after defeating Jim Duggan not long before this.Herc is representing the ''2x4s'' and Savage is representing the ''King's Court''. Not terrible like the previous match was but still not very good.The King with the win after hitting Herc with Queen Sherri's purse. Bow down to the King!Dig It!
Next up is the Survivor Series Report with Mean Gene!These segments never get old.
Ultimate Warrior vs Tully Blanchard- Warrior is representing the ''Warriors'' and Tully is representing the ''Heenan Family''(The best SSeries team IMO  )This would be the last appearance for Tully as he was let go right after this for drug issues.Total one sided match here as Warrior pretty much squashes him for about 6 minutes. It's a DQ finish however as Arn comes in to attack Warrior leading to a big brawl between the teams.
Ted DiBiase vs Demolition Smash-$ Man represents the ''Million Dollar Team'' and Smash represents the ''Hulkamaniacs''. Decent main event here but it was slow at times.Zeus attacks Smash on the outside leading to Dibiase getting the win.
Final Thoughts- None of the matches here are must see but for the overall hype of the main PPV the WWF did a job well done here. On top of that it's only 90 minutes long.Verdict-Recommended

great job, I remember watching this when it aired! No stunning matches but great stars and a brilliant job hyping the survivor series - Great Days (god I miss them)!! Best time to be a fan without question. |

Royal Rumble 1994 
Your hosts- Vince McMahon and Ted DiBiase
Tatanka vs Bam Bam Bigelow-Ludvig Borga was scheduled to face Tatanka here but got injured at an MSG house show right before this. Solid opener here as they both had chemistry plus the crowd here in Providence RI was hot for it. Tatanka with the win after a crossbody from the top. That's revenge from that hair cut he got from Bigelow the previous Summer!
The Quebecers vs Bret and Owen Hart for the WWF Tag Titles- Standard tag match here but this was all about the post match stuff. The seeds were planted at the previous SSeries and here we with the big moment. Quebecers retain the belts after the ref stops the match due to Bret's knee injury he got earlier in the match. We get the post match heel turn from Owen where he kicks Bret's leg(out of his leg) to great heat. The evil laugh by DiBiase on commentary is the icing on the cake. Just a great all around turn here and one of my favorites in history. Here's Owen's post match classic interview... Just a big moment here that would start their classic feud along with the great matches they would have at Mania X and SSlam of this year.
Razor Ramon vs IRS for the WWF IC Title-J.R. and Gorilla Monsoon are on commentary here as Vince/$ Man head over to radio WWF.Not a bad match here but the ending was never in doubt. HBK comes out near the end to help Irwin get the win and new champ! but NO as another ref comes down and explains the situation and the match is restarted. Razor would get the win not long after with the Razors Edge. This would lead to the infamous ladder match at WM X to see who is the undisputed IC Champ.
Yokozuna vs Undertaker for the WWF World Title in a casket match-Yep it's this match.The one on one stuff was really only like 5 minutes long until we get a crap ton of heels come out to prevent Taker from winning from the likes of Crush,Adam Bomb, Bigelow,Jarrett, even the Great Kabuki! It just gets real ridiculous as you got like 10 guys on 1 and still Taker is fighting them off like it's nothing. The end comes when the urn is stolen and opened by Yoko in which all the ''powers'' escape it making Taker helpless. They all throw him in the casket to end this....IDK what you would call this mess. The post match stuff is even more over the top as they're wheeling him up the aisle the place goes dark in which then the casket starts pouring out smoke. We then get an Undertaker promo from the inside followed by...him ascending up into the heavens!!! It's just so cheese and over the top it's gotta be seen to believe. Taker would take time off after this to heal injuries and would return at SSlam. Horrible title match. I'll leave it at that.
30 man Royal Rumble match- Decent outing here but no more than that. The big highlight for me was seeing Diesel get a chance to shine early on by throwing out 7 guys in quick fashion. The crowd here was white hot for that moment so it's no surprise Diesel would get the belt by the end of this year. I do gotta question why guys like Sparky Plugg and Mo from MOM got over 20 minutes in there but that's another story. The final two is Bret Hart(still selling the knee from earlier) and Lex Luger. The finish happens when both guys go over the top rope at the same time resulting in them being co-winners even though Lex's feet clearly hit first. This would lead to both getting a title show at Mania X. Again not a bad Rumble here but nothing to write home about.
Final Thoughts- Definitely a mixed bag here with the good stuff being good and the bad being well...real bad *cough WWF Title match *cough*. I also thought Ted DiBiase was good in the heel commentary role despite Bruce Prichard's opinion of him on SETWW. For a solid opener,Great heel turn, and a decent enough Rumble this gets a passing grade.Verdict-Recommended.
Next up on the classic reviews we'll head to Sturgis for Road Wild 1998!!

Yeah the World Title match is bad. The match they had at that years SSeries while still bad is still wayyyy better than this one.
I'll remember this event mainly for Owen's fantastic heel turn and Diesel's performance in the main event.

The rumble will always be my favourite PPV - such a great concept.
I havenāt seen this one in a while so will base my comments from what Iāve just read and from (a very sketchy) memory.
Tatanka v Bigelow seems a fine opener. Never a fan of Tatatatanka (couldnāt resist a Heenan quote there) but Bam Bam could bring out the best in anyone.
Owen played the whinging little brother to perfection and was a great build up stemming from survivor series. I still remember the days that Vince and co could tell a great story.
The I.C. Match seemed to move the HBK/Razor storyline on and gave us that WMX match. I always liked IRS in the ring.
Iām probably in the minority here but I really enjoyed the title match. It was totally over the top with the whole UT rising up into the rafters but was pretty entertaining for me. However itās usually angles like that that non fans throw back in your face and question why you like wrestling ha ha
The rumble match was fine. I never thought Luger was the right person to lead the new generation but was a fantastic storyline to get around the āone shotā stipulation and with Fujiās hired guns to try and eliminate him. I guess the powers that be were losing faith in Lex that they hedged their bets with the joint winners. If memory serves me correctly the Hitman was getting the loudest cheers when they kept changing their minds on who won. I never noticed at the time but thatās pretty mental that Mo and Sparky spent so much time in the match. With the stipulation that whoever wins gets a title shot, itās hard to believe that either stood a chance of winning. Good job with Diesel as well

I'm looking forward to the road wild 98 review. IMO that was one of the worst wcw ppvs of all time. When people review bad ppvs it's more entertaining than the ppv itself. I actually liked the visual of them doing these shows at the annual bike rally in Sturgis. Made bad business sense however.

I still think that tag match between the Harts and The Quebecers is one of the best in terms of drama and storytelling.
The way they played up Bret injuring his knee the entire match. Jacque and Pierre built up some legitimate heat for themselves along with Johnny Polo. You could feel the frustration of Owen standing on the apron just begging for that hot tag. Then the way everything went down with Owen betraying his big brother afterwards. BEAUTIFUL. That match epitomizes the true art of professional wrestling when it is done well.
