I bought 4 elites the other day and they all had big qc issues. The one I wanted most was Tyler Breeze and he had a split on his crotch wide enough to wedge a screwdriver in when I got him out of the box and glue all over the back of his leg from that huge split. I didn't see stuff like that until this last year and now many figures have fused joints, warped parts, bad paint, etc.

I don't get it. Quality is supposedly going down, yet I haven't had any issues. In all the years I've been buying Mattel (since day 1), I've had ONE come from Ringside that looked bad. Face printing is supposed to be a disaster, yet mine have all been great. I actually prefer it usually. They say "prices going up but quality going down". Yet we're getting interchangeable hands and the occasionally multiple faces for the same price they were before. Complaints about distribution, yet 9 times out of 10, that has more to do with the stores than it does Mattel. They say "too many big names missing", yet I could barely name ten figures I'd want we haven't gotten or that aren't in the works. They complain about Exclusives yet complain we aren't getting more new names a year. Now they claim that Hasbro can do better. Well Hasbro would have the same issues. No thanks, grass ain't always greener. I’m still lost at so many directing anger towards distribution. Mattel makes the product and ships it to whoever paid for an order. The only thing they can do is put pressure on the buyer to get it from the warehouse to the locations, but with so many other companies fighting for space, they can’t get too ugly with the buyers or they could give that shelf space to someone else. They have to manage expectations just like we do, only we can’t seem to do that in a tactful manner anymore. I don't disagree, though I will say that as you mentioned, these companies are all fighting for space. If Hasbro's account managers are getting their products from warehouse to store and Mattel isn't, then that is very much a huge issue for Mattel that falls squarely on their shoulders. But distribution goes a lot deeper than products not making it from distribution center to store. In the last 18 months Mattel has has failed line after failed line that had limited or no presence at brick and mortar retail. The DM line died a slow death as stores slowly stopped carrying the last few figures. The EG line was in some Walmarts and some smaller retailers. Target picked it up 3/4 of the way through the year, but by that point the line had been killed. The EM sets are only available online, and aside from the Hardys have been heavily discounted thus far. When products aren't being ordered, that is a far, far bigger issue than products that are ordered and then distributed irregularly. Mattel isn't producing toys that retailers find appealing - which means they've either totally misread the market, or aren't communicating with major retail partners when designing product. In the grand scheme of things that is going to have a much bigger impact on collectors than smudged paint or ugly parts choices.

Waaaaaay more quality control issues than ever before. Which by the way, people used to tear Jakks apart for but Mattel got free passes on for years.
Bad distribution. I've never had any problems finding Marvel Legends or Star Wars Black Series figures. The Flashbacks have been a huge pain the ass.

Why the slow burning heel turn on Mattel? For the first five or six years, they could do no wrong. Now, more than ever, everyone assumes Hasbro can do a better job. These STILL are THE best wrestling action figures ever created, distribution issues aside. Tis the holiday season of giving. Let us rejoice and spread goodwill among the men and women of Mattel... I personally don’t hate Mattel I just don’t like that I can’t get flashbacks in the uk, here’s hoping if it changed to hasbro (or whoever) then I may be able to Purchase flashbacks (probs not)

I’m just gonna be honest here,..Bill rubs me the wrong way. Am I the only one? .......(No Zeus for you!) Not really. He's just a designer and gets nervous when speaking in public. He goes out of his way to interact with fans when it's not a part of his job and he doesn't have to at all.

While I have only had quality control issues on a few figures out of the 125 figures I have, I'm ok with that. It happens, I suppose. But for me, I think my interest is just getting lost due to the difficulty in getting the Legends I want and the fact that they don't release very many really cool ones anymore. And the ones they do are kind of so-so -- new Dude Love and Sting.
It's hit sometimes (like the new Dusty and Harley) but the new direction with the chase Legends just frustrates me. It makes me want to stop collecting and just be happy with the full shelves i already have, haha.

The quality seems to have slipped hugely and prices increase is most likely the reason. Basics look like figures from the pound shop more and more, less articulation and more bland. I think the bad distribution contribute to the frustration. UK seem to miss an elite a set there's barely any new waves coming into the UK. The choice of exclusives and making figures that will never make shelves which in turn means high secondary market prices and makes it more difficult to get who you want. All in all it is just the figures themselves I believe. Looking at a few basics I bought the other day the one that stands out is a red attire Neville which must be 2 years old, the rest just feel cheap and low quality. It's not necessarily Mattel's fault, they try and make it work best they can but in this Day & Age it's hard to control the prices to be reasonable and distribution while main the quality but then we feel hard done by as we aren't getting the satisfaction out of the products which isn't our fault either. It's just the world that we live in unfortunately.

Mattel get nothing but gratitude from me for creating the Retro line - the pure childhood joy I had walking into a toy shop 20+ years after the Hasbro line ended and being able to buy figures like them off the pegs was an unexpectedly awesome feeling that I won’t forget. There are many, many things I’d change about that line of course, but Mattel seem to being keeping faith with it, listening to customers to some extent (the upcoming Diesel for example), and in the case of the UK they are still making the figure available here despite Smyths not carrying the line anymore, so I’m happy with them.
I don’t know the other lines well enough to comment on the details, but I have seen some great figures and accessorises in those lines so I wouldn’t argue with those who think Mattel are the best brand in terms of wrestling figures so far.
I also appreciate that Bill and Action Figure Attack are interacting with customers/fans on social media.

The QC (with almost all mass produced products) is the biggest flaw. The new FX face paint really shows how much worse it is now.
Can’t blame Mattel much for the lack of stores not keeping up with distribution.

I stopped collecting mattels a couple years ago due to money and lack of interest in the current WWE product, but I've kept up with the line on here out of curiosity and it has slowly been going downhill in a variety of ways. From distribution to quality control, to cost cutting.
No company is innocent of this. Damn, the quality of Jakks figures slipped substantially in the last few years.

I'm surprised collectors in the UK can walk straight, the amount of times they've been shafted.

listening to customers to some extent (the upcoming Diesel for example) It's their job (and any business's job) to listen to its customers and deliver what they want. It just makes financial sense. They do not deserve a pat on the back for doing obvious things. But that's where we are at - Mattel has bungled so many things, that any decent thing they do is lauded when it's just basic blocking and tackling.

I just hope Mattel hangs onto the license, would hate to start over AGAIN.

I don't hate them, but I will give you an example of a thing they do that annoys me. Surfer Sting is one of the most colorfully attired wrestlers in history. There are a multitude of colors and color combinations to choose from, and they come up with this... To be fair, it could have been a conscious decision because it's Sting's "Light" vs Undertakers "Darkness". Maybe I'm just reaching..

Im in the UK and I have no idea how I’m going to get that mitb Carmella for less than £50. Ridiculous. Mattel are poor with their distribution, that’s arguably their biggest failing. How is it for you finding marvel legends in the u.k. ? Terrible... now that TRU is no more, we don't get ANY Marvel Legends at retail. Even when TRU was around, there was no consistency and we only got the odd series here and there. And they were VERY expensive too... the last series they had (the Thor: Ragnarok wave) cost £26.99, which is ridiculous. The same thing is happening to Star Wars: The Black Series... no retail stores sell the new/current figures and (as with Marvel Legends) our only option is online or specialty/comicbook stores. Not to mention, any ML or SW store exclusive is usually much more expensive too. So I don't think Hasbro having the license would be the answer to everyone's prayers - the figures would be just as difficult to find here, if not moreso. At least with Mattel, places like Smyths have been regularly stocking the Basic and Elite figures... hopefully they will start again, once they've got rid of all their old stock.

I’m just gonna be honest here,..Bill rubs me the wrong way. Am I the only one? .......(No Zeus for you!) He's probably just camera shy. Or people shy. Who knows. But my two cents are that there are a few issues that are a constant lately with Mattel. Distribution is the biggest but that's really not Mattels fault, Let's be honest. Mattel SELLS the product to the retailers. It's the RETAILERS job to get it to us. Quality has been very iffy. And I dont mean lack of accessories or packaging. I mean the corners they had to cut with the face printing tech. I wish they could have tested it further and we would not have gotten so many misses. When it sucks, it SUCKS. Like the Mickie James or Bobby Roode but when done right, we get the beautiful new Carmella. AND then there's the basics! The now red-headed stepchild OF the red-headed stepchild. The loss of articulation (even more so on the women!) Has made me COMPLETELY quit basics. AND I used to buy as many basics as the elites! I would have preferred a .50 cent to a dollar increase to keep the basics the way they were! Ugh. Gonna cut it short cause I'm at work and I already spent 10 minutes on my phone typing this.

I'm not going to complain since Mattel really picked up what Jakks was lacking and that's purely detail and their body scale is closer to being spot on so tbf they are still good in my books.

For UK Fans it's distribution. Sure you can get them online but as you said what happens if you open it and it breaks and you have to get a refund from some Ebay seller who really doesn't want to give you a refund. And you've spent £25-40 on this figure. It's just more hassle than it's worth

Because the forum is populated with cheap people who expect the world for $20 I go to work for two hours to pay for an Elite figure I don’t expect the world, but I think it’s reasonable to expect an effigy of a human being to have two eyebrows and limbs that can move without breaking
