So a group of friends, and I have a constant wrestling chat via Facebook messenger that we all talk in throughout the day. One of the topics of conversation lately has been the fact that RAW is just abysmal. There is literally nothing about RAW outside of the Nia Jax / Ronda Feud (which really isn't that great either) that makes you want to turn it on. Baron Corbin is TERRIBLE. As a "figure head" he is the worst thing RAW has ever had not named Mike Adamle, and the fact the Heath Slater is a referee is just super depressing. So, I guess I am wondering, has anyone found anything on RAW entertaining lately? What do you think of Baron Corbin, and do you think Heath deserves better?

There's enough I'm enjoying about it to keep me around. I dig corporate stooge Baron Corbin. I find him more engaging now than he's been in...well, ever. I've really enjoyed the arc of him taking the reins and abusing his power while trying to brown nose his way into a more permanent, authoritative role. I mean, yeah, the villainous authority figure this has been done to death, but this is a different enough twist on it for me to strap in and enjoy the ride. The Heath Slater thing, I think, is just a nice complimentary piece to the bigger story. It's barely a taste, but it reminds me of the days when the most focal angles had ramifications that carried all the way down the card. The fact that they've lumped Slater into this role at all leads me to believe that they have some sort of fallout of the encounter between Braun and Corbin planned, which makes that more enticing to see play out.
I mean, sure - it's nowhere near perfect. There's just as many aspects of the show I'd just as soon scrap as I would keep, but I can't think of a time when that's not been the case to some degree. I generally try and take the product with a grain of salt - I mean, wrestling, at its core, is kinda silly to begin with. If you can get past the juvenile humor and inconsistencies that come with writing a weekly episodic program on the fly, I still think there's plenty to enjoy if you've still got the urge to watch. If not? Hey, plenty of alternatives, too.

He was wasted on SmackDown, and that abysmal run with MITB, was just sad. Last night's show was better than several weeks prior. I figured Slater was gonna be Corbin's lackey ref, when he didn't disqualify Lio and then was named the referee of the main event. Just hopefully it doesn't mean Slater is gonna start screwing folks. I don't like that whole idea.

Slater reffing is just a storyline gimmick, much like Corbin being the acting GM is.

3 hours of live RAW every Monday is too unbearable nowadays. I don't really have time myself but there's still Sky plus and WWE's YouTube channel for highlights.
I normally watch the 1st hour live (rarely) and then the rest of the show whenever I'm free. I think Corbin is not too bad but overall the show is weak AF. I'd like to see Rhyno return with Slater to win the Tag Titles or for Slater to eventually win the IC Title.

It lasts way too long The same craphappens every week It feels like they remind us of what happened 10 minutes prior every half an hour 99 percent of the stuff that does happen is forgotten about within a couple of weeks The script written promos sound absolutely bloody awful The commentary is the worst it has ever been Most of the characters have zero personality
I have been watching wrestling since 1989 and honestly right now spending three hours watching RAW live is my idea of a freaking nightmare.

Raw hasn't been good for a very long time. There is not one person on Raw that nobody can really get behind in believing in them. Sure people hated Cena and Roman, but at least there were some in the crowd that cared about them. Who do you have as a great baby face now? Rollins? He doesn't have the charisma to make anyone care too much about him. Elias? I think he's bland and not exciting to watch. Brawn? You can only make the guy look weak when it comes to the big one for so long until people stop caring all together. Ok, Brawn FINALLY wins the Universal Title. Do you really care? It's like when Bray won the world title. Too little, too late. I don't like hot shotting titles, but, they really should have pulled the trigger long ago on Brawn. There are just no hero's on Raw that anyone can care about.

As beat to death as the evil authority figure can be, I like Corbin in the role because he is also a wrestler who can answer for his actions in the ring, unlike when it's Stephanie coming out and emasculating the entire roster at will or Shane doing his goofy dancing until the next major PPV when he will attempt suicide yet again.
Overall, Raw has been 50/50 for me of late. What works is working well, like Seth vs Dean and the rise of Drew McIntyre, but what is bad is really bad like any time Nia talks on the mic and the questionable booking of AoP and the odd couple of Roode/Gable in the tag division.

Corbin plays the GM role pretty damn well and he is so hateful especially when he grins. I also like how Mcintyre and Lashley are his henchmen and that gives them a pretty high spot on Raw. Truthfully I enjoy Raw and personally feel that it's booked far better than Smackdown which is watched through rose tinted glasses despite how bad it is.
Raw's worst years in my eyes were from 2007/2011 since then I have found it very enjoyable. Sure it's not perfect but it's not as bad as it's made out to be.

I think its great, I like this thing they do with big stadiums, turf fields, dividing everyone into two teams with uniforms and removing the ring and throwing around this ball...
Oh wait thats Monday Night Football. I can't comment on Raw, haven't watched it from start to finish this year.
Its easier to hear about the results and thank god that I didn't end up disappointed sitting through the same lucha house rules tag match for a month straight or have to suffer with Baron Corbin as the number one heel on the former number one wrestling show.

Well...
I think it was very boring two weeks ago. Last week was alright. And this week's was pretty good. I think RAW is suffering from a lot of injuries at the moment. They've lost Roman & Braun, their two heavy hitters. They've lost Sami, Owens, Jordan, Hardy from the upper mid-card. Triple H is hurt and off TV. So RAW is missing a lot of their key players.
I don't hate Corbin in his current role. However I will say he has been getting a tad too much TV time. But with all the injuries, I can understand why.
I think people give RAW a hard time and SD a pass sometimes for the same thing. I hear people complaining RAW doesn't use their whole roster yet praise SD for utilizing everyone. Which makes no sense considering all the talent SD doesn't use.
I think they need to do more with Finn. I think the Revival deserves more. I think they should stop giving Nia mic time. I think they should keep Jinder looking a lil better than they do. I think Seth should get more ring time. Last night was perfect. I'd like to see Dean in more matches. I'd like to see Ryder & Hawkins get tv time. Preferably as a team.
I think Bray needs to come back. Preferably to feud with Braun heading into WM. I think Drew is the future. Everything about him screams main eventer. I think RAW needs better segments with the women. I think Ronda has been fantastic. I think Nia is boring. I think Sasha needs to turn heel. I'd like to see more cruiserweights on RAW.
I think fans complain far too often. Even when WWE puts on a good show, the fans act like it's the end or the world. They're the boy who cried wolf. Then when we get a show like two weeks ago, nobody cares what they have to say.
There. That's my thoughts.
