I enjoyed the show last night with the Tag Match being my favourite. But now that Belair lost, who goes on to face Shayna? Kairi would be overkill again. Potentially Io or LeRae? Another Belair match?

I watched Take Over last night and thought the whole show was very entertaining. Undisputed Era vs War Raiders, Gargano vs Ricochet and Black vs Ciampa were all fantastic. I really did not expect Ciampa to go over the way he did, he won fair and square and that is great for his character going forward and then the ending!!!! I was torn on if Gargano was going to nail him with the belt or not. I really do not have a clue where this is going, but at this rate I would not be shocked if DIY added the tag titles to their reigns as well.
My only slight criticism of the card was the woman's title match. I really do not get the love for Bianca Belair. Sure she is strong and looks like an Amazon warrior, but I find her in ring stuff and especially her character really lame.
Another thing that was great about this show was that it only asked for two and a half hours of my time! I was entertained from start to finish and that is something I can very rarely say about the 4 and 5 hour regular WWE PPV's.

This was honestly one of the best NXT Takeovers. Although I think it got off to a slow start, it instantly switched from solid to incredible halfway through.
War Raiders VS Undisputed Era was great by the end. But I think it was a bit of a weird choice to have as the opener, because I'm just used to NXT Tag Team title matches being in the middle of the card. Regardless, I thought the match started a bit slow and dragged a little bit from beginning to middle, but then became hectic and exciting towards the end. I'm pleased with War Raiders as the new champs. Undisputed Era had a good long run, but it was time to freshen the division up. I'm surprised that Fish and Cole were absent from ringside. I can't remember any rule barring them from ringside. So why weren't they out there? That didn't make any sense.
Matt Riddle VS Kassius Ohno was better than expected. Before Takeover, I had little to no interest in this match, because we've already seen it a couple of times. But I think they did such a good job with the video package before the match, that that alone boosted my interest significantly. I always love a well put together video package. I think both guys told a good story in their match, and now the feud should be over.
Oh my, Johnny Gargano VS Ricochet! I fully expected the two to steal the show beforehand, but WOW! Definitely Match of the Year! And Johnny Gargano has finally won his first singles title in WWE, after two years of scratching and clawing! The ending spot was beautifully pulled off, and cemented his character as one who has been pushed too far over the edge.
Bianca Belair VS Shayna Baszler was really good. Until the past few months, I didn't get Bianca Belair. Now I do now, and her performance at Takeover cemented why people should care about her. I'm disappointed that she didn't dethrone Baszler, but I think Belair will definitely be a future champion one day.
To be honest, I zoned out a little bit during the main event, but I did really enjoy what I did pay attention to during Aleister Black VS Tomasso Ciampa.
And holy shit, that ending!!! Ciampa and Gargano has been the best story ever told in pro wrestling history in my opinion. And it got took to a whole new level with that one ending shot of both men standing on stage to raise their titles together. After so long of being bitter archenemies, Gargano finally seems to have joined forces with what he hated. Everyone involved should pat themselves on the back, because this story has been pulled off to perfection, and I cannot wait to see where it goes next!

I haven't watched NXT for ages, so that was the first time I've seen Belair... Not interested in seeing her again. I was hoping Baszler would strangle her with her own ridiculous, hair.

Betcha Meltzer says... "Um... yeah, it was alright, I guess." "Uhh NXT Takeover was.. But um, well hold on before i get to that i just gotta say, Omega vs Tanahashi was probably match of the century. But back to Takeover, i thought it was.......... gooood?..... like there were spots where i just uhh, but first, hold on, let me just say Omega vs Tanahashi at Wrestle Kingdom was a clinic. Soooo Takeover i don't know, it was okay, like it wasn't as good as uhhh Wrestle Kingdom next year... Uhhmm it was disappointing, i thought the tag match was... okaaaay could've gone on longer but War Machine winning was neat, you know what it kind of reminded me of? uhh, but first let me just say that i know Kenny will never go to WWE. It reminded me of, well hold on it no wait, like The Hart Foundation, nevermind. i'll give it 2 Stars. The Women's match was ehhh, uhm like why is Bianca in NXT? she should in the main event picture on RAW or Smackdown, the Women's match was deceeeent, i, uhh Shayna should drop the title, i don't know why but yeah, 1 Star. Ohno vs Riddle could've been good but like it was okaaaay. I thought that foot spot was kind neat but uhhh, it wasn't anywhere near as good as like Jericho vs Naito. Hero should should go join AEW i think uhhh, like in NXT he's just like okaaay. i'll give it 1 Star. Ricochet vs Gargano was pretty disappointing honestly, like it was uhhh, but first like did you see Ziggler said he's on hiatus? yeaaaah i think he's leaving... Kenny Omega. The match was too slow i think, the crowd was decent but i wasn't into it, like it reminded me of uhhh, uhh the Young Bucks. They had some cool spots and Johnny won so that was cool. Uhmm NJPW is idk nevemind, i guess i'll give it 2.5 Stars. The main event between uhh Ciampa and who was it again? oh yeah Black, sorry i was just thinking about New Jap, nevermind. Decent, it wasn't great like maaaan this match SUCKED, they had some cool offence but idk, it wasn't as good as Kenny vs Okada 1. uhhh, Aleister Black might be in the Rumble, oh wait what? oh he was? neat. uhh yeah Ciampa won, okay. Him and Johnny were on the stage with the belts, that was uhh okay, kinds thought of the BCOG attack. 2 Stars. Overll uhh, i'll give this Takeover like 1.5 Stars, was decent but like G1 Climax is better. |
