There are better options out there at defense than Rachunek. The Rangers should try and dump Malik and sign a coupe of other defenseman.
Thomas Pock is most likely going to see a lot of time since he signed a 3-year deal recently...I also really liked what I saw from Paul Mara from an offensive standpoint.

I'd be in favor of ditching Racunek and/or Malik to get better D. I loved what I saw from Girardi this year. I also liked Pock, and I really liked Mara in his short stint with the Rangers.
I know Lundqvist will start more games next year, but I'd rather have Valiquette or Montoya play as the backup. I'd be in favor of trading Montoya. If he is a highly touted prospect, no point in keeping him around seeing as how Lundqvist is the long-term solution.
I looked up FA's online on multiple sites. BEFORE the season, these were the free agents for the Rangers:
UNRESTRICTED Brendan Shanahan Jason Ward (not on team) Jed Ortmeyer Sandis Ozolinsh (not on team) Kevin Weekes
RESTRICTED Adam Hall (not on team) Marcel Hossa Petr Prucha Colton Orr Ryan Hollweg Karel Rachunek
Hopefully they can keep Shanahan and I wouldn't mind keeping Ortmeyer as well.

The main thing i'm hoping for in the off season is Vancouver signing Scott Gomez. That'd be sweet.

The Rangers are rumored to be in talks with Henrik Lundqvist about a 7-year, $32 million contract extension.

The Rangers are rumored to be in talks with Henrik Lundqvist about a 7-year, $32 million contract extension. Where'd you hear that out of curiousity? That'd be great if that happened. He's totally worth it. Even by hockey standards I would think that he'd get more than that. Seven years is a good amount because I still think his best years are in front of him seeing as how he just completed his sophomore season. And they aren't going overboard like some other New York team.

Another Sabres fan who didn't watch hockey up until a month ago...AWESOME! oh yeah thats right, cause i didnt go to 5 home games (which is a lot cause its hard to get tickets) and i didnt travel to pittsburgh and dc to watch them play. oh yeah i forget i also didnt travel to carolina last year to watch them play in the eastern conference finals like where they are again this year. just because i dont post here doesnt mean that i dont watch hockey, i have been going since we had the aud and i go to as many games as possible. so i started watching a month ago right? just because the picture is true and ryan miller and the sabres beat your rangers doesnt mean you have to go and complain like your boy jagr...

First of all, I've never even seen you post in this thread until today. So where were you the other 7 months of the season?
Second of all, this isn't 7th grade, and Jagr isn't "my boy."
Third of all, despite what you think, Ryan Miller is not God. Nor is he close to it.

well i work full time and go to school full time so i never get a chance to actually search the whole site one day my friend told me about this, it was after the second game of this series. sorry i dont post on here but now i still start to more cause i love to talk hockey.
and yes i know ryan miller isnt god, but that picture is really funny. being from buffalo i have to support him to the fullest even though at times he can make dumb moves and decisions but he will be one the best some day. if we did have a god on this team his name would be Chris Drury (not saying this cause of game 5 but for what he did all season and everything he has done since joining the Sabres)

i was lucky enough to go to a red wings vs stars game while in detroit for wrestlemania, and i was also lucky enough to watch them blow a 3-0 lead with 10 minutes left. it was a very exciting game and the dallas won in a shootout. the red wings looked like a great team the whole game until that final 10 minutes and i give the red wings a lot of credit. but i dont like the team only because of hasek. too me he sucks and shouldnt even be playing anymore (dont really feel like getting into the whole thing but if you knew what he said about buffalo you might understand). now that they are playing my second favorite team the ducks, im hoping for the ducks to win this series so i can have my dream cup. with the return of marchant and the way pronger has been able to control the wings offense i can see them winning but i can see it going 6 or 7. either way if the sabres make it to the cup ill be doing my hardest to go to anaheim so i can finally see the pond or go to detroit cause i have family there and my uncle would try and get tickets.
