The bottom line is this, Bret screwed Bret. Had he done his job the screwjob would’ve never happened The bottom line is this, Bret was in his legal right to not done the job. If Vince would have followed the law the screwjob never would have happened.

If Vince would have followed the law the screwjob never would have happened. If you grant a guy creative control over his last month in your company, you shouldn't be too surprised if he has a strong opinion regarding the outcome of his final match in the company he has worked for the last 13 years. Bret wasn't looking to "bury" people on his way out the door, but most of the "Bret screwed Bret" crowd probably doesn't even realize he had that clause in his contract. The guy earned some say over how he went out. Vince agreed otherwise this wouldn't have been included in the deal.

They strapped the rocket to the wrong brother. Owen was and always will be better than Bret. Equal wrestling skill with far superior charisma and mic skills.

You left a bit out Me: "Do you want a photo wit me or not?" Hitman: "Sure."[/quote] What was the context of the situation? Was this at an autograph session and he was ignoring you and you said what you quoted? If it was at an autograph session there should have at least been an assistant guiding you and Bret on what to do. If it was a free random meet you probably could have approached it a little better. But I'm guessing it was a paid meet and greet. Bret is very quiet at those to the point that a fan might think he's rude or stand offish. But if you read enough about him or watch enough documentaries you know just how much the "Hitman" character is and his involvement with making the fans appreciate the character and signing autographs is part of that. He understands it but maybe just doesn't come across well enough about it. But then again... I have been to enough autograph sessions to realize, if the fan is afraid of starting a quality conversation with the wrestler, the wrestler will come off as standoffish. A lot of negative autograph session reports I read are honestly based on the fan being nervous or just wanting the autograph and not taking the chance to speak up. I realize I know nothing about your situation but I sure am interested in reading more than what you quoted earlier, if there is anything more.

Oh ok, sounded legit but without a backstory. I am still interested in hearing your story.

By most accounts, Owen never really wanted it. He wasn't as committed to the business as Bret since he was more of a family man. Wrestling was life for Bret. Wrestling was a job for Owen.

Owen and Bret were near equal in-ring, but I'd give the edge to Bret. Owen was better on the mic and a tremendous chicken heel, but I struggle to see him able to convincingly play another type of character. As a babyface he can do white meat, but I don't see evidence of anything else. His serious heel turn when he snaps is highly overrated to me. The Black Hart stuff could have maybe shown something more, but unfortunately it was cut pretty short. This all being said though, layering his career Bret showed he can do Owen's shtick pretty good. His whiny heel take is some of the best wrestling storytelling ever. His mic work improved by the point too. I don't think Owen could have gone the distance.

Big fan of The Hart Foundation and one of few good things during the WWF New Generation Era, but often comes across as a bitter old man in recent years and I lost some respect for him after reading his autobiography Him cheating on his wife repeatedly was both shocking and disappointing to me.
