Looks like they are stepping up their game a bit. Lawler looks fantastic, and that is the exact attire want for his retro figure. Nash's head sculpt is really good. Doink looks good too. And the new Hogan mold is a big step up from the old kick mold they used for previous figures (it always looked too miniature). That is the mold they should have used for Nikolai - maybe with less definded arms. I really don’t like the kicks and in general it does feel like some of the Mattel retros are too miniature, the most recent piper and any legs like that make them look like some kind of Lego toy. I want these to be as close to Hasbros as possible, anyone who says they’re supposed to be their own thing is deluded and covering up for any mishaps. |

Finally Mattel are actually understanding what we want. Love all of these even if the bodies are not what we would have chosen the characters are there. Men on a mission, Jarrett and mega maniacs Brutus would be great additions next time

The Lawler Retro is great; the only thing I would change is the top being molded rather than just painted -- as other people have said, they put more money/love into the Superstars line -- but on the whole, I think they are trying. I would also shrink the arms a bit; they are a bit too long. Other than that, I think it's really good. |

These Mattel retro reveals are something else..
Is there likely to be another reveal today to go with Lawler? I'm hoping for Owen Hart or Heenan.
Also does ZST reveal anything SDCC?
Mattel have really come up with the goods this time, I can't believe it!

So Steve confirmed that Lawler is in the second wave of 2023. Seems like a no-brainer to have Jarrett in the same bundle. I passed on the Zombie version so really hope we get one from Mattel! That would be great. Double J definitely fits the era. I'd imagine they are going to go close to his unreleased WWF Hasbro figure, with the clothesline. Other New Generation stars would be great to fill out the set. An updated Razor Ramon would be amazing, the pale blue from Royal Rumble 94 would look great. All green is another option; this way they are different from his Hasbro releases. I like the mold they used for his Scott Hall figure, looks like it works for the Razor's edge. Another Diesel would be nice, using the new Hogan mold would work. An updated Headshrinkers might now be a possibility. Maybe do their baby face run from 1994. EDIT: Just thinking about this, I wouldn't be surprised if they do a Kliq set: HBK, Razor Ramon, 123 Kid and Diesel. Kind of like the NWO exclusive sets. HBK in the punch mold like the unreleased version of him would be amazing. HBK in his 1992 gear, Razor in pale blue or all-green, Diesel with a silver top, 123 kid in his red and black from 1994/95 or purple from 1995/96.  Kliq set would be great! I'd love a 95' Diesel, updated Razor, updated Kid and Shawn. I hope RSC also gets a set of WCW guys soon after to go with the NWO guys. Luger in black is an easy layup, not sure who else they have access too atm though, if they could get the Steiners that would be epic though. Maybe Rey Jr since we have a cruiser guys in Syxx. Love the Lawler too, and glad they went with the blue/white since my custom is red/black. So now I'll have his 2 popular ring gear's from the new gen period. And wasn't expecting to see anything else announced at SDCC. And as far as Double J, despite what a few are saying I think ZST got it way better than Mattel ever would, so if he is happening, I really hope they choose a different attire, personally I would love an IYH July 95' look similar to the Major Bendie. |

That would be good for customisers who could load-up on the ladies for their projects since they said the nWo tag sets would be available separately as well as a four-figure bundle. |

It certainly suggests a women retro is coming to the line and possibly announced at SDCC!
With Lawler being a potential 1 of 4 Mega Powers would work, but my guess is JJ will feature with Lawler, or Jim Ross!
I didn't know Mattel don't have Owen Hart, that's a shame!

I would be pretty disappointed if they wasted a spot on Natalya, I think she flat out sucks. Modern men or women should be nowhere near this line.
I am very interested to see if Ringside Collectibles get more exclusives. I am loving the idea of a Kliq set. I would like Two Dudes With Attitude's and Razor and Kid from September to October 95. Although as we are getting Waltman in his Syxx getup I guess that is unlikely. Maybe they could do Two Dudes With Attitude's and Yokozuna and British Bulldog from In Your House 3.

That Lawler is really a stunning figure, what a wonderful surprise. I'm so on board with seeing women in the line, Sherri, Liz, Chyna, Trish Stratus and Lita would all be absolute musts for me. As much as I'd love to see JR come with the King, I'm assuming his deal with AEW prevents that.

WWE are never getting access to Owen whatever happens, but there might be a slight chance of Chella or ZST one day getting a chance to work with the Owen Hart Foundation, depending on their current agreement with AEW; the boss of Chella has spoken about reaching out to them before they signed with AEW. Jazwares could decide to launch a line in this style, but seems unlikely. Mattel did have access to Pillman, but not for a while now. So if not Natalya then they'd need to find a fourth person for a Hart Foundation set; Dynamite is a no go with WWE, so unless they pull a random Bruce or Keith, or maybe Stu (all of whom would need WWE Legends deals) then it would probably have to be a rival? Austin or HBK in a Hart Foundation set? |

I was super pumped about seeing Lawler. As others have said, he’s a perfect choice for the retro line. I know it’s Hasbro-like, but I just wish the crown wasn’t molded and was removable. The figure looks pretty good otherwise!

The more I think about it the more I believe we will get a Mega Powers set eventually with Sherri and Elizabeth included. That just seems to fit in so many ways. The Hart Foundation set I suggested might need to wait for Pillman to come back under a Legends deal since there isn’t an obvious fourth person without involving rivals or going modern with either Nattie or Tyson Kidd, but individual releases of Bret, Bulldog and Anvil in more random sets seems very necessary outside of the faction. But for now it’s really interesting to think about: who might they select to go with Jerry Lawler? A broadcasters set might be most obvious: -Powder blue or early Raw Vince; -Gorilla Monsoon; -Howard Finkell Maybe Bobby Heenan can go there with Monsoon, though I’d expect maybe a Heenan Family set might be more likely for him with Studd, Orndorff and short-hair Rick Rude. I’m sure we’ll get Bobby at some point anyway. They could go with a New Generation-themed set since Jerry is in ring-gear; throw-in some combination of names like: -Bulldog (shorts); -Anvil (94 heel); -Bob Backlund; -Jeff Jarrett; -Kama; -Hunter Hearst-Helmsley; -Vader; -Fatu (Make a Difference, or Sultan maybe?); -Ringmaster; …and about a dozen Bret and Shawns. And of course Mabel if he’s still available. |

They're like the Hasbro tag sets, so like the Rockers, Bushwhackers, LOD, etc. - two figures together on one card. They will be available to order separately (so you could get The Outsiders set on its own without buying the Hollywood/Syxx set if you wanted), or as a bundle like we get on Mattel Creations: both The Outsiders set and the Hollywood/Syxx set, in a special box. |
