Everyone's saying "if they put a Hogan or someone at that level in Series 2 it would have sold!" But like... that's Bret. The lineup from series 1 wasn't actually too far off from series 2. Big star: Piper/Bret Popular midcard name: Mr T/Anvil Non wrestler: Mean Gene/Jimmy Hart Less popular midcard guy: Orton/Volkoff Series 1 sold great, and series 2 should have as well. But the execution on wave 1 was so much better. The real test is gonna be series 3, where it's Lex and 3 niche names AND the execution on all 4 is crap. Could be a line killer. But hopefully you guys still buy it so I can get a Lawler/Vader/Heenan/Mabel/Jarrett/Bearer eventually.
Yep -- I'm worried about this too. I really want Vader, Heenan, Mabel, Bearer, Jarrett -- I hope cheap execution and poor character choice doesn't kill the line.

But hopefully you guys still buy it so I can get a Lawler/Vader/Heenan/Mabel/Jarrett/Bearer eventually. Niche names for S3 yes, and designs that could and should have been executed way better yes. But, there seems to be alot of buzz around the set since it is all guys that are proper Hasbro time period and were guys that had been planned but never released. And I'd disagree with everyone saying S2 was weaker than S!. S1 was pure mid 80's, besides I guess Gene who would fit anywhere up til 93', but another thing is Hasbro never did managers or announcers, so it's not something that got me excited. I was into Wave 2 though, just for the Hart Foundation. Wave 4 we know has Jerry Lawler, so it's automatically better than Wave 1 IMO. And we don't know how many of Wave 1 or Wave 2 were produced, Mattel said they made more of Wave 2 since Wave 1 was so hot, but we don't know how many more. So maybe they intended to produce enough for them to last a few weeks before selling out. More money in their pockets, so would make sense to make more if you think they'll sell, even if it takes a few weeks. That being said, I really wish they would listen to input from collectors and give us some better details on guys going forward, even if it means a slightly higher price point. I think Lawler does look great, so maybe there is hope they will go that route.

I think considering the timing of the hasbro lines the choices since reboot have been good
You can’t go all out and do all your big names in the first couple series cos the line will die out fast.
Also if you go past early new gen into latter day then attitude era people complain it’s not comparable with the original line
You’ll never please everyone with the line, choices etc but I think they’re doing a good job

Brian Myers on this week's major pod had a great idea. They should have done Nikolai in black trunks with the dollar signs on the side. I get they made him to go with the Iron Shield, but a New Generation Corporation Nikolai probably would have swayed me on this set.

So almost a week since "Delivery" and still no Retros, response from Fedex, response from Mattel Creations OR a response from Mattel.
At what point do I just dispute the charge?

‼️ LOVE reading this. ‼️ Thanks for the reply; really appreciate the care you are taking with the line. Can you share anything about how the performance of this bundle is being viewed inside Mattel? Are they comfortable holding stock this long, or do we need to see sell-outs at a rate similar to the first set to keep the line viable on Mattel Creations? I'm sure you can understand the paranoia of collectors with this line given what happened with it before The set sold great. We made more, sold more, added more first time Retro buyers. All existing plans for the line are still full steam ahead.

I know a lot of people would love to see more Hogan's, Bret's, Macho's, and Warriors, but this shows the line is still viable by filling in gaps with various unmade figures and extending the timeline both ways. I do hope we see a few re-dos (Long Tights Macho, Short Hair Rick Rude, Saudi Slaughter, Heel Jake) along with missing figures and hopefully more New Generation. Also putting it out there I would love to see a No Holds Barred 2 pack so we can get a Rip Hogan along with Zeus which would be great to display both loose and MOC

A No Holds Barred two pack would be awesome - i thought the elite 2pack was so cool, but I only collect Hasbro/ retro style so couldn’t justify buying it. And I’d be totally on board fit the others you mentioned - Heel Slaughter and Jake, and Rick Rude needs a figure more than anybody (but please please please don’t use the Austin body - I feel like the only one that works is the Sheik body).

I need a heel Jake late 91' blue trunks would be great. And I've always wanted a Zues, and preferably a SummerSlam 89' Macho Man in silver trunks to go with him too. Maybe a 4-pack NHB theme set? Zues, Macho, Hogan and Beefcake all in Summerslam gear. Or just a Rip and Zues 2-pack would be good too, maybe that could be a RSC set?

Surely we will have a Hennan, would also love a Elizabeth or Sherri.. The non wrestler aspect works well.. Still not received my wave 2! Encouraging news the retros will continue for some time yet!

Got mine in a few days ago. Still feels bittersweet. I wish Jimmy was skinnier, Wish Jim had a different head/body, and Volkoff would have been better with a removable hat but it’s more true to the Hasbros to keep it on…my only issue with that is that he needed a red jacket/shirt to really make it work. Bret ended up being better in person though and much different from the Hasbro figures so I’m happy with it. http://instagram.com/p/CiioWkyOKrY I included some side by side photos with custom figures to kind of help compare. The quality control on these figures seems better. The last set had dust or residue on the figures as well as scuffs. The worst offenses that I noticed with these was Anvil’s heart logo placement and the awkward bubble placement of Volkoff. This must have been the only way to make it fit in that box…otherwise that’s a real failure from Mattel and further proof that they are cutting too many corners with this line.

I'd like to see the Triangle of Terror (Slaughter, Mustafa and Adnan) with Hulk Hogan as a wave
they've already got the Warrior so they'd be complimenting that figure with the rest of the Summerslam 91 headline match

I know they will come but Hasbro can’t be beaten on these in my view and I see the Retros/Chellas/Zombies as a chance to add to and fill in the gaps of the Hasbro line, not remakes. There are exceptions though, the purple Taker was a good addition and I would be in favour of a heel Jake with the punching spring arm action the same as the Hasbro, it suited Jake so well and would be a great thing for Mattel to do.

Yes, that Undertaker was sure one they actually hit a home run with. It's the exact attire most would have wanted for him to reflect him starting in late 94' and figure was executed so good, everything molded and detailed as it should have been.

I don't get this comment neither, you put Hogan in and do a real good job on him, I'm picturing something like Hasbro #3 but in the attire he wore out at WM7. He would need to be done right though, I wouldn't want just a repaint of the one they're doing for Hollywood Hogan. And people have been wanting the Iraqi Slots. Hogan and Slots would sell the set, the other 2 would just tag along.

Would like Hogan in the Desert Storm match attire if they did that set. I'm sure it would just be Hogan/Warrior and Sarge/Sheik from SummerSlam 91, though. We don't have Adnan as an Elite. Safe to say he's not an option for a Retro.
