Not sure about female talent in the retro form - as we didn’t have any in the original hasbro line it’s a bit hard to compare with nothing to compare it to However what I would say is if they’re going down that route imo Sherri should’ve had the accolade of being first - before the women’s evolution she was peerless. She was great in a lacklustre and under represented women’s division back when she won the title from moolah. Then moving to the manager role Everyone she was with she elevated (with maybe the exception of macho who she definitely complemented). HBK gimmick was vastly enhanced with her, she added charisma to a M$M which otherwise would’ve been stale snd passed its sell by date. Then alundra who was the first on a mainstream usa platform (certainly WWF) to wrestle a non-moolah style deserves to be represented. I understand the importance of Wendy in terms of the stage MTV provided etc and the rock n wrestling thing but to me I just think there would be better options to do / reveal first Fair point, but I don't think women in the Hasbro line was something that would have ever been considered. Admittedly, I'm younger than the Hasbro line, I was born in February 1995, but when I was a kid in that late 90s/early 2000s timeframe there was a pretty hard-line on boys toys vs. girls toys, I have to imagine that existed 5-10 years prior and was probably stronger. Hasbro was a children's toy line, I doubt they ever thought a woman's figure would sell, and no one wanted their action figures called "dolls." I know Elizabeth was in the LJN line but Liz was huge and they loved doing managers Interesting point - maybe it depended on the toy line? Maybe they just didn’t do women because there was so little options snd the development cost wasn’t worth it? But toy toys in general When I was in prime ‘toy playing’ say 5-12 it was late 80s to mid 90s and I definitely had girls in my toy lines MOTU with she-ra, Teela, evil lynn, Thundercats with cheetara etc Princess Leia was THE ultimate badass with a take no crap attitude. In a new hope luke was a bit whiny and immature and when she grabs the blaster snd starts shooting it’s awesome. So it’s no surprise she was on that toy line too. To date mattel have done the best women figures imo, I have the black dress jakks Sherri and it doesn’t compare to mattel, so I’m sure they’ll do a decent job. It’s just a figure done in a certain style with no reference point feels hard to judge

I figured they'd make more Hogans being an anchor, but I don't know why Richter is the first female for the line. Maybe her contract was expiring so they needed to pump her out. Without Lauper she's at the bottom of my wants list.

Had Hasbros gone with WWF into the Attitude era, they would have made women. Sunny, Sable, Marlena/Terri, Chyna, Luna, Jacqueline, Tori, Lita, Debra, Ivory, Trish, Stephanie McMahon, etc.

Sherri was a boss she would sell and make guys sell, but it does feel like in that Hasbro era the WWF featured a lot less women's wrestling in general. I'm sure kids wanted Liz to go with their Macho Man's, I would have, but I can see a board room of what were most likely adult male designers in 1990 saying, "ahh mom's won't buy their kids the girl and the boys won't pick it if they can only have one or two"

By the time the license ran out, that style of figure was very outdated. They’d have had to do a full refresh by about 1996 to keep up with other toy lines.

I am not hating there being a Wendy Richter figure, but there was easily at least 50 freaking guys I would have wanted before her. Hell, Sherri and a (sorry to sound like a broken record) long tights Macho King would have been a much better first lady in the line way to go about things.
So far this relaunch as been mostly good for me, I liked series one and three and think the NWO figures look great and I am excited for series 4. Series two was a huge miss for me and I have to say that another Hogan and Richter do not exactly have my super excited. It may change when I actually see the figures to be fair.
Also, to go back to a long tights Macho King/Man. they could do a WrestleMania VI deal where we get a long tights Macho King with Sherri and then a Dusty with a Liz, that way you get to use a female mold twice in one set and it would be two heavy hitters.

I honestly don't mind Wendi Richter. I wasn't too excited about a lone Volkoff being in series 2, but otherwise I love that set (same goes for Orton and series 1). I can't wait to see who else is in this set, and I'm actually pretty excited they are finally making a retro Hogan. I'm hoping Andre is in that set, too.

I don’t get why they didn’t go with the grey Taker they have shown us a couple of years ago. Everybody would have been happy with that release…

I was a hugh Hulkster Fan as a kid. So, every Hulk Retro is welcome. Wendy seems just to be the appetizer for Sherry and Elisabeth. So bring em on.

Why would they use an unfinished purple taker? These photos were taken well after that figure would have been produced. And there aren't any other older series figs pictured in this display.
I would still take a grey gloves taker at some point. It would fill a spot on my shelf for Taker, figuring he was so big Hasbro probably would have released him in some variation almost every year.
I think there actually was skuttlebut over the years that Hasbro would have done another grey gloves version since he would have been due another figure, but he wouldn't have debuted the purple in time to get that into one of the next sets after the orange card.

Agreed. A hatless Undertaker with a different action move was something I expected every new wave. Weird we never got one, so a Mattel variant seems kind of a no brainer. I will most likely repaint this one and give him the extra headscult of the upcoming Amazon Ultimate that come with Gooker.

Did we ever see the grey 92 Taker from the front? To me that's the biggest casualty of the line, and I think we only got a picture of him from behind in a retro ring that was canned. I think this was the closest we got to seeing it from the front: Taker was supposed to be released on his own, not with the ring, but plans changed. Found this on p29 of this thread. Doesn’t look like an unfinished purple figure but more like an unfinished grey variant that needs a repaint of the hatband.

I do think a grey Undertaker was planned. I asked Steve in the Q&A if any retros besides Enzo and Cesaro got deep into the planning stages only to go unreleased and the only other figure he could recall was the possibility of a grey Undertaker. I do find that particular example to be an oddity though. To me grey glove Undertaker is shorter, red hair Undertaker, tho he did throw back to the look at WM13. His hair was also kinda long by WM9, but idk I feel like a great grey Taker needs a different head and not just paint over the purple hat strap.

100 days til SDCC. It’ll be here before you know it. Hopefully we see the next 2 RSC 2 packs. The rest of the Hogan/Wendy set and the set after that. At a minimum!

The grey Undertaker however looks to have been planned and canceled for whatever reason. The tie makes it very obvious.

Would anyone else be up for a 4-pack of Warrior, Savage, Hogan and Brutus all in their red and yellow gear? From summer 1992 and early 1993. I feel like that’d be the ultimate retro Survicor Series team.
