I'm kind of underwhelmed by this line at the moment. I've picked up everything since Mattel started doing these, so I guess I'll still buy out of inertia.
The lack of proper molds and tooling is a problem as mentioned above. Plus, I'm not really sure what the point of this line is anymore. We're getting a lot of guys that we already had Hasbros for. That's not all on Mattel, a lot of the wrestlers I want to see in Hasbro form are not under deals. But it feels off getting earlier versions of Bret, Hogan, etc.
It would have been great to see this line focus on more 90s stuff, from the New Generation where Hasbros stopped, through the Attitude Era. Going backwards to the 80s is strange because that era is full of guys in plain color tights. Not as toyetic. The 90s were full of colorful, toyetic designs, which is why the old figures worked so well. I'm not opposed to getting someone new like Bob Orton, but when we're only getting a handful of these a year, it does take the wind out from under the sail.

Wow! That’s surprising to see Billy Gunn, but, 100% welcomed! I’m all in for DX retros! I hope we get to see a few more upcoming figures.

Love Chyna, Road Dogg and Billy Gunn but that Triple H is so meh for me. An improvement off the original retro but if you have two long-tights Triple H's you still kinda have no Triple H's in my opinion. Not asking anyone to agree because I get this is more "accurate," not disputing that. I just would have almost rather have seen X-Pac if that was the choice but I know they wanted a top guy. It's just like a step above using Rocky Maivia as your "top guy," for me. I grew up with top guy Triple H and I can't be 100% pleased with these other figures of him until we get it.

Hopefully the actual Billy Gunn figure will be taller than Road Dogg because otherwise that’s a perfect figure for him I think.
I’m happy to get a new DX Triple H - despite not being strictly needed then it’s tough to have a DX set without him, so it was really either in gear like that or street clothes, which wouldn’t really fit with the others.
I hope that X-Pac is going to be the first reveal of the next bundle so I can line him up next to DX in order.
I guess we’ll see the other two in the Hogan set appear on display tomorrow or over the weekend.

DX wasn't really what I was hoping for, at least not post Shawn DX. I'd of rather gotten WCW guys from RSC, or at least 97' DX with a Shawn if they could actually pull it off and do him justice.

Surprised it's Studd as I was certain Orndorff would make the set but Studd is obviously a great choice for a WM1 set.

At this point all I can really do is laugh. The only two figures I really didn't want were a second long tights Triple H and ref Ali.
Some days the world tells you you should have stayed in bed lol. Studd is cool and a good pick for WM1

Studd looks good, just thought it should be Orndorf, rather have Studd and Orndorf and no Ali.

Studd looks great - they've gone for the obvious formula and it looks all the better for it (though looking at that angle then the Hogan face reminds me of Bruce Forsyth  ). Ali with the microphone is interesting - did he get on the mic at WM1? If not then I guess it's a free accessory, though if the bundle had the extra budget for an accessory then I'd have tried to get Hogan the title belt instead. |
