If I recall correctly, there were a fair few who were moaning about ‘another undertaker’ and ‘Vader being horrible’ when these were first revealed…..funny how that’s gone quiet.
But I think that’s what’s quite unique about retros; it seems that quite often I may feel a little disappointed at certain aspects when each set is revealed - but once I get them in hand I tend to love them!

Mattel has the answer to the "who wants what kind of Retros" question -- that would be the actual sales figures.
I guess they will adjust accordingly, based on that. If they don't, I guess sales are probably even. I know I won't be picking up the next set - but if many others do, Mattel has no reason to mostly produce New Gen/Attitude Era talent

The Hasbro Hogans are plentiful and far better than this one, nobody wanted an Ali and very few a Wendy. Ideally we would get talent who haven’t had retros before either by Mattel or Hasbro but I get that it depends on deals etc. If they’re already running out of talent ideas then they’d be better pausing or reducing set numbers until they can sign some different talent.

No disrespect, but personally I totally disagree - I’m more than happy with the choices for the next set, although whilst at the same time acknowledging that there are also other wrestlers that I would probably prefer to be made. But I have no interest in the attitude era - and so I am not fussed about people from that era.

This just goes to show how people want different things in/from the line... I love the upcoming set with Ali and Richter (Ali in particular is an awesome Retro addition!). I also want/think there should be a mixture of guys that were in the Hasbro line, along with ones who haven't had Retros before. Especially main-eventers like Hogan, Macho, Andre etc. (not everyone has or collects the original Hasbros).

I’m not so sure the Hasbros are in scale with the Hasbros. LOL. That’s not to take anything away from them at all, but - especially height wise - they didn’t exactly have a ton of science when it comes to their molds. Weight wise, they certainly attempted to add variety. Figures like Yoko and the Natural Disasters were some of the best in the entire line. Really hoping Mattel takes a stab at a new heavier figure mold at some point.

Yeah, I suppose it depends on who/ how many guys of similar size that they have signed in order to warrant the cost of making a new mold - I would assume that they might feel there’s not enough to warrant it. I anticipate getting an OMG with the Vader/Tugboat mold, if it’s true that he’s been signed. Personally, I would like a new Duggan style mold, one that is thicker set but maybe not quite as muscular - something for a decent Harley Race.

I was one of the people that was not sold on getting another purple Undertaker. But… I was wrong. It’s better than the first one. Holding it next to the first one, the color is much better this time. I’m actually surprised at how much I like it.

I remember being in like first grade and thinking that it was weird. I wish they would’ve repainted the green suited body with black at some point. And don’t get me started on Rick Rude. Also don’t get me started on Mattel still not giving us a better Rick Rude.

This post is exactly right -- the original Hasbro line had a lot of scale issues, but we still loved them.
Look how small Million Dollar Man was, Taker wasn't that much bigger than much shorter wrestlers, etc.
On the flip side, when they really changed up molds like Yoko, the bigger bodies, it was so much fun. Giant Gonzales is still one of my favorite figures of the whole line because he towered.

Ideally we would get talent who haven’t had retros before either by Mattel or Hasbro but I get that it depends on deals etc. Ali is the only one in that set I’m interested in, and not because it’s him but because it’s a ref. I became a fan of wrestling in 1991 so there isn’t much from the pre-Hasbro era I care about as a collector. I have no interest in Studd and Richter, and I’d prefer a yellow trunks Hulkster. For me, one of the things I enjoy about the retros is how they expand the line throughout the last thirty years. Stone Cold, Rock, Cena, Lesnar, New Day etc. As someone else said in the thread, I like the ones from the Hasbro and early BCA era especially. USA Lex Luger, Diesel, purple Undertaker, Goldust, Vader, those are the ones that resonate with me because they’re almost like a continuation of getting the figures as a kid. And the managers and Mean Gene are a great touch. Like Steve said, it’s impossible to please us all.

Heenan, Andre, Mr Perfect, and maybe Paul Orndorff. Not sure who else they could put in there. Hercules, Barbarian, and Haku are currently out of the question. Maybe Harley Race, iirc he was managed by Heenan at one point.

Would anyone want a Dangerous Alliance-themed wave?
I think that would be the most effective way to get an early 90s version of Heyman, Rude, Austin, and Madusa into the line.

though I'd also love a 4 Horsemen Legacy type set of Flair, Arn, Barry Windham and maybe a Brian Pillman rather than an Ole, Lex or Sid figure

I would love DA figures, but I think I would rather have an Alundra Blayze retro over Madusa (would def want a DA Madusa elite if she is still under contract). I doubt they would make both. It's too bad that Larry and Arn are no longer under contract for the 4th person. I think id rather have a WCW Simmons or Lex over Madusa from that era.
